It's prime location allows this campground "flexibility" that would perhaps put other campgrounds out of business. My big beef was with the dump station. C'mon, how much care does it take to have a decent dump station? Especially one that you charge extra to use? This one had the opening elevated instead of recessed into the ground. And the flush water was just a spout (no hose) with a stripped thread so it wouldn't hold on to my hose. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Travel Trailer.

This is a rustic camp and does not show pretty. Because the location is so near Grand Canyon entrance, it is redeemed. We made reservations late so did not have sewer, only water and electric. There is easy access to the park and the village outside. No fenced area for dogs, but you can access places to walk. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Motorhome.

Recommemd the bus tour sponsored by the Grand Canyon Park. The driver was fun and knowledgeable and we were able to see the East side in a very comfortable way.

If you want to see the Grand Canyon there is a limited number of campgrounds. This one is what I would call utilitarian. It is a place to park your rig (in a dusty, gravel lot). The utilities work fine but TV use is non existent (pack DVD movies). I would recommend doing your laundry, grocery shopping and filling up your gas tank before arriving here! All prices are high. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The Grand Canyon is filled with opportunities to take trails, do photography, take jeep and donkey rides, sight see on a plane or a helicopter. I recommend the Papilon Heli Tours to really see the National Park. There are lots of turn outs in the park to take pictures. Majestic!

The park we actually wanted to stay at was booked up for the next six months. This park had lots of vacancies, but there were some issues. There was a long lineup at registration. There were not enough showers and they cost $2.00 to use. However, the park is within a short walk of many stores and is very close to Grand Canyon National Park. We were also given a nice site with no nearby neighbors. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Travel Trailer.

We enjoyed hiking a portion of the Bright Angel Trail in Grand Canyon National Park. The trail is very scenic and snakes down the side of the canyon. However, parking can be a problem. We showed up at 7:15 a.m. and got one of the few remaining parking spots.

40 foot fifth wheel. Arrived without reservation on a Tuesday May 8. They gave us a 30 amp, water only site. Pull through. Level. All gravel and very dusty. A few trees here and there but mostly wide open. Bathroom clean..didn't use showers. Water pressure ok. Each pedastal in our row (site 250) had 2-30 amp plugs and 1-20 amp, each with their own breaker, yet the post now only services one site. It appears that at one time they crammed 2 rigs in each site..each with their own 30 amp plugs! Wow...that must have been tight. Campground very quiet considering how busy it was. Sites empty and fill almost daily. Only one water spigot per site. No cable. No over air. Satellite fine. T mobile had 4 bars with 20 mg speed! Campground wifi was erratic. When busy and at night, very slow. Relatively ez to find...it's BEHIND the large strip mall, with a pizza parlor/general store and mexican restaurant. Take the first right on the roundabout just at the end of their parking lot. About 1 mile or so to Main Gate of G Canyon. Then another 15 mins. or so with traffic to the 'hole'. Huge amounts of Class C rentals everywhere and dozens of languages spoken all over. Food, fuel, attractions, tours, imax etc. all within 1 mile radius of this CC. Our site was $51 because of 30 amp/no sewer. FHU is 56. They DO charge $3 to dump on way out...kinda silly. We should receive one dump 'coupon' to be used one time on exit. Good grief but that's capitalism for you. Park camp fees (if you can even get in) are $51 at Trailer Village so it's comparable. Typical tourist area...everything's higher. Note: there are several FREE NFS dispersed camping sites just before Tusayan and again just North of Tusayan. We went in to look with just truck. Doable with big rigs if dry. Bottom line: Acceptable rv parking for sightseeing the Grand Canyon. Base camp gives you more time seeing it and a lot less driving to get there vs. staying down in Williams (which we have done) We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Fifth Wheel.

$3.50 for washer. $2.00 for dryer 40 minutes. The 30 amp outlet at our site was upside down. We had to flip it ourselves in order for our plug to fit. We thought about switching sites but the couple we looked at were upside down too. The site was pretty narrow. There's no way we could have used the fire ring since the fire would have been under our slide. But great location! Shuttle to Grand Canyon right across the street as well as restaurants and stores, including Starbucks. You don't have to drive at all. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Big park with lots of spaces. Gravel sites and ours was level. Power was good and water and sewer worked well. Park is very close to Grand Canyon and there are shuttle stops right across the street to get to the park. There were some trees but they had not leafed out yet so am not sure about shade. Park was very quiet. Easy to drive to site and lots of room to get into site. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park, sounds expensive but for the location is was a good value. Holiday Inn was $300 per night! They MUST get their electrician out there! I saw two plugs in the group camping area just sitting on the ground with wire wrapped in electrical tape! One even had no covers over the plugs. Showers had visible wires leading to the control head for the pay-as-you-scrub showers. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Motorhome.

I only wish I had read the reviews before reserving. The spaces are un-even dirt, gravel, and weeds. The bathroom is dirty and they charge an additional $2 to take an eight minute shower. With all the beautiful trees in the area why would they not have some shade trees around the campsites? Helicopters flying overhead nearly nonstop during the daytime. This place needs some serious maintenance. I only have two positives: the WiFi was good and I only spent two nights here. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Travelling from New Zealand, 20 day trip. Third night in USA, worst experience ever. This park does not subscribe to Good Sam or any other club, and I now know why. They will not be allowed to be members, as the park is filthy and run down. They are just harvesting all the desperate people that were unfortunate to secure a stand at the Grand Canyon National Park RV sites, and are fairly relaxed with harvesting and robbing desperate campers @ $46,00 per night, no dumping. Sites are unlevel, dirty and overgrown with weeds. No grass or trees in sight. Ablutions are horrendous, and to be charged $2.00 per person for 8 minute cold shower, and $3.00 to dump is what we loosely call "HIGHWAY ROBBERY". The only plus to this RV park is the proximity to the Grand Canyon Bus shuttle. I would never recommend any other RV campers to utilise this RV Park unless they are extremely desperate for a parking spot for one night. We stayed for two nights, and observed several other RV's opting to rather stand in parking areas around Tusayan rather than being exposed to this Park. It's a crying shame that this Park is allowed to operate under these circumstances, and give international and local tourists such a bad impression of run down / substandard facilities. Worst part is that they are allowed to harvest the overflow from the National Parks, without contribution to the system. Never again. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close as soon as possible, or invest in the infrastructure to ensure minimum hygiene standards are met and upheld until new development starts. Should not charge $2.00 per 8-minute shower under the existing conditions, in 20 days this is the only resort where additional charges were levied for a service that should be stock-standard to the daily fee. I'm absolutely appalled with this experience. You are doing the USA tourist industry harm and damage the way that you operate.

Overgrown, dirt/gravel sites. Campground not maintained well. $2/8 minute showers (not enough time to get hot water!). The office put us on a tent site under a tree. Had to ask to move us as we were in a truck camper, then our new 30 amp site had upside down receptacles, making it hard to keep our plug in. Office help not very friendly. Says wifi available on literature, but we weren't offered a Pass Word to access it. No cable. We will look elsewhere in future. We camped at Grand Canyon Camper Village in a Truck Camper.

We are here for a second night and will be leaving in the AM. The toilets have not been cleaned in 2 days that we know of and are in great need. In the women's restroom 2 of the 4 toilets have not had toilet paper for 2 days. Many of the sites seem small and ours is so narrow the picnic table is half on the neighbouring site. The grass/dirt lot is very uneven and our trailer support bottomed out as we drove in. Our trailer is only 15 feet long. The location is good as a shuttle bus is available close by for transport to the south rim. We will not return to this RV park. Note the price we paid did not include sewer hook-up. Overall Rating:

In 32 years of RVing, we have never stayed in such a run down, filthy and unsanitary campground. The bathroom sink counters are tiled, however the tiles are cracked and broken, and sections of tile were missing entirely. The toilets were a mess, the showers were dingy and cost $2.00 for 8 minutes. (we did not use them) The worst part of the campground was the sewer system, each sewer hookup has two capped 'Y' connections, you remove one of the caps and attach your sewer hose to one of the 'Y's. Whenever someone upstream from you dumped their tanks, and also when I dumped mine, the sewage pushed up the unused cap and raw sewage overflowed all over the ground, I saw this happen in three other campsites in addition to mine. Never have I experienced such an unsanitary situation. I am amazed the Board of Health has not shut this place down. I would avoid this campground at all cost. It is a shame because this place is only one mile to the Grand Canyon south rim entrance station. I strongly recommend you not stay here, but try to get a site in the Grand Canyon National Park, or at one of the campgrounds closer to Williams AZ.
