Located very close yet outside the bustle of Grand Canyon National Park, this primitive campground is perfect for those who enjoy boondocking. Access roads and sites are paved, and ours was a very long, spacious pull-thru. The Campground Host pleasantly reassigned us from site #18 which is terribly downhill to #23 which was reasonably level. There are no hookups, not even a spigot for refilling the RV fresh water tank or sewer dump (though both are supposedly available a few miles away in Tusayan. There is no WiFi, but the Verizon signal was adequate for 3G. We did not used the bathrooms, and there are no laundry facilities. The bargain price is net of $20 Senior Pass Discount and 9$ online transaction fee, and makes this park a great value, especially for a spot so close to the grandeur of the Grand Canyon. Needless to say, this park would have a much higher rating if it also has hookups and/or WiFI. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

USFS campground just outside the South Rim had big pull through, spacious sites with forest views, and critters for the dog to spy (elk). Wild flowers were in bloom. The camp host was gracious and helpful and even posted a sign giving directions to free dry camping when the park filled. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

The best thing was the total darkness at night -- never seen the milky Way so bright! Close enough to Grand Canyon NP to serve as a good base for going there. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

We were met by the camp host while trying to figure out how to get to our reserved spot, #16. That spot turned out to have too much of a slope for us and so he told us to find a spot we liked and move to it. We chose #45. We did have to pay for this additional site. No utilities, but as far as we could tell there were no generator hours. We used the generator as needed when preparing meals. There are several elk that wander through the campground grazing. If it is a clear night be sure to take the time to sit outside and watch the stars. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

We discovered this campground by accident, and ended up turning our 3-day stay at the Grand Canyon into a 2-week stay! Definitely come with full/empty tanks and a generator/solar/propane stocked. There are no services here, no water, no dump. There are spigots a walk inside each loop of the park where you can collect drinking/cooking water. Water is very scarce here, we saw the potable water truck delivering more water for these spigots every other day. The toilets are new vault toilets and kept very clean. Potable water to refill tanks, dump, showers, and laundry can all be obtained at Camper Services at the Grand Canyon Village. Showers were $2 for 8 minutes. If you need anything more, you're pretty out of luck - you have to drive to Santa Fe for anything else, including cheaper gas. Weather was cooler here in the national forest vs the park, must be all the shade from the trees and breeze. Quiet hours are 10pm-6am, but the camp host suggested to try not to turn on generators past 8pm out of respect for other campers. Host was very helpful here, they drive around every couple hours to check on things. Sites are very spacious and can feel like you're by yourself. All sites have a concrete picnic table and nice fire pit with grill. Many of the pull-thru sites are pretty short or steeply curved, and most sites are sloped so just expect some leveling. We saw elk here on several occasions. Half the sites are reservable online, the rest are first-come first-serve and you can stay a max of 14 days. Most people only say 1-2 nights so chances are good if you arrive early. Some nights (mid-week and weekends) the campground was full. Lastly, we work online so Verizon LTE data coverage is a must - we got great connection here! Hard to find in this area other than in Tusayan and at the south rim. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are 2 grocery stores: Tusayan and Grand Canyon Village. The one in the village has better prices and more selection, so try to pick up your things there before leaving the park. The fast food in Tusayan is very overpriced, try to avoid at all costs.

Forest Service campgrounds just south of Grand Canyon. Quiet, peaceful, private spots, pull throughs, Most need reservations but we camped here on a Monday - Wednesday. Nice place, wildlife and starry, starry nights! We would camp here again. In my opinion these forest service camps are less crowded and bigger spaces than NPS. But you are not in the park. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Travel Trailer.

Park is big rig friendly. Pay at fee station, or you can reserve online. Camp host was helpful in recommending site for us. Some sites do have an incline or are sloped slightly to one side. You should arrive at this park with water tank filled and grey/black tanks empty, as there are no hookups. There are vault toilets, but no showers. There are water faucets throughout the park where you can get small amounts of water, but you're not supposed to hook up your water hose to the faucets. The water for the park has to be brought in from several miles away. Verizon service worked well here. There are trails throughout the park. We saw elk very near our site. This park is approximately 4 miles from the Grand Canyon fee entrance, so it's a great alternative to the pricier full service campgrounds near or in the Grand Canyon park if you can boondock for a few days. We'll return to this park. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

What a campground should be. Nice large sites well away from other sites. Nice large pine trees. Paved roads through out the campground and most of the sites are paved as well. Sites are not always level but we made it work. No dump station available and minimal water so as others state come with full water and empty gray and black water. We stayed at site 16 which was a nice pull through site. We reserved site ahead of time so our fee reflects the extra 9 dollars to reserve, first come first serve is $10.00. Would definitely stay at this campground again when visiting Grand Canyon as location is just down the road from the Grand Canyon Entrance and the town of Tusayan. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Travel Trailer.

This is a great campground with wonderful hosts. We have a 40 ft motorhome and tow a car and we had no problems accessing this campground. The trees were all trimmed back nicely from the road. There is a one way traffic loop through the campground. This puts some of the sites on the wrong side of your RV door. The campground host escorted us in the wrong way so we would be setup correctly in the campsite. Drinking water is available, but you are not allowed to fill up your RV. There is a free dump station inside Grand Canyon NP. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

OK. First, no hookups. In return, you get lots of space between sites, typically 100 feet or more, good shade, campfires, all the things I love about NFS campgrounds. The trailer sites inside the Grand Canyon park are very close, almost no separation, and no trees. The other commercial RV park is also tight with little vegetation, if any (we drove through it). Ten-x is about 6 miles outside the Grand Canyon, but well worth it. The toilets were the cleanest pit style I've ever seen and didn't even smell. We would definitely return here. Our reserved site was not very level, but the very nice campground hosts moved u, even letting us go the wrong way on the loop to get the patio side towards the picnic table. National forest campground with level sites and water available at very inconvenient spaces away from the road. Very nice setting, very close to the GC, but lacking signage if you are coming from Tucysan. We would probably not stay here again because of the lack of convenient water. Great spot to boon dock while visiting the Grand Canyon. We loved our clean scenic wooded site with a concrete patio. It was very quiet the entire 5 days we stayed there. Our rig was parked on a wide asphalt pull through which allowed us room to pull out all our possessions and get reorganized. Fresh drinking water was close to our site. The bathrooms gets cleaned daily by a forest service guy with a high pressure sprayer. The camp host was super nice and helpful. You can dump at a nearby RV park. Park is located very close to the southwest entrance to Grand Canyon National Park. When we were there (late June), the campground was not crowded, but any later in the season it would be good to have reservations. Most of the big rig sites (i.e., RV greater than 30 feet) are pull-through loops off the road. Most are paved, but narrow. Few are level and most are lined with large rocks. What were the designers thinking? We had reservations for our 36-ft motorhome for a site we thought was large enough, but the camp host thought it had too much of a slope for our rig (he was right) and found us another site. Even that was a challenge to get into and we had to back out of the pull-through site when we left. But after we got settled, it was a very nice place to dry camp for a couple of days. There are lots of Ponderous pines in the area which made satellite reception impossible. But who needs TV in such a lovely setting? In summary, a nice place to spend a few days. We would stay here again. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

Now this is camping! If you can dry camp, this is the perfect campground. If your purpose is to see the Grand Canyon, this is ideal. Located about 6 miles south of the Grand Canyon entrance. Close to gas and groceries. Large, wooded sites, with lots of privacy. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Motorhome.

Primitive campground with no hook-ups or restrooms. They had clean pit toilets and water spigots spread throughout the campground. Surrounded by beautiful Ponderosa Pine trees, and only two miles or so south of the South gate of the GC entrance. Sites were fairly level and spread out compared to sites in the national park or at the Camper Village in town. Very quiet while we were there for two nights and its location made it easy to return to the canyon for sunsets or hikes or other canyon visits. We would stay here again, especially for the rate and location. We camped at Ten-X Campground - USFS in a Tent Trailer.
