As far as trash, the park was clean. The red rock/soil under the MH and the grey rock/soil on the roads are not something I would prefer. It is hardly rock and mostly red soil. Just a bit too dirty. You and your dog will track it all into your MH. You can also pay $41 to park tandem behind another RV or $69 to have the whole space to yourself. So you pull in and back out, looking at the rear end of another RV once parked. Too bad they just don't bring in some clean rock for at least the RV surface. It was a one night stay and the other RV park was full. I don't think I would stay here if I had a choice. You do look out to hill side the other side of the freeway. If you can handle the soil, it is OK for a one night stay. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Why this park gets more than one star baffles me. It is obviously a housing area for campers. The trailers and motorhomes are old and all have significant trash outside - - a couple intending to stay for a week drove around and took off post haste. If we had done a "drive through", we would have done the same thing. This place is awful! Williams is a wonderful town and the hour drive to the Grand Canyon are the only positives I can mention about this place. Do not believe the positive reviews about this park. I wouldn't pay more than $5 a night and actually would rather stay at a Walmart. We will never come back to this campground. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nothing to do...in the immediate area. For places to eat and shopping, you must drive into Williams, which is an adorable old town! It is so unique to just walk down "Route 66".... great stores. It is sad that I can't find one positive thing to say about this campground..

Most of the washers and dryers were broken. The cable TV for my spot did not work. I ran the cable to the next space which was vacant. This was my first time here. I did not have a reservation but they handled me just fine. This was a one night stay on the way to the Grand Canyon. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park was a great place to stay while seeing the Grand Canyon! Loved the great views of the San Francisco Peaks and Bill Williams Mountains. I would definitely come back with my family. The weather was fantastic! Also, the are really really nice staff and the prices are reasonable. Clean restrooms and showers. Lots are spacious with a sunny, open exposure.

I know where I'm staying next time I come through the area: Canyon Gateway RV Park! We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is in a great location. Its at the top of a hill that overlooks a meadow. Also it is so close to downtown that we could have walked. The amenities are clean and the staff is friendly. The rate is reasonable and my daughters appreciated the free wifi! We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed one nite. Our travel friends made the reservation. This park is one step up from a Walmart parking lot.Way too much junk laying around. No trashcans and oh that red pumice type crunchy stuff. It may be leftover lava of some type. There's a 24 hour truck stop across the street, noisy as all get out. And how about those stale free donuts? Not again. We stayed for 2 nights, and took this park based on these reviews and the website. We were disappointed. As said in other reviews, the park has many, many old, dilapidated campers. That alone shouldn't be a problem, but so many of them had so much stuff around them... junk! And the red dust was bad.. it rained while we were there, and red dirt was everywhere. When we arrived, I jokingly said that I was not happy with the weather, as we had left sunny Mesa a few hours prior, and it was sleeting there! She said - without missing a beat..." no refunds"! Our satellite worked, and the truck stop and train noises did not bother us. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Williams is a typical tourist town, with some different shops, due to its Route 66 fame. Kind of pricey, but what tourist area isn't? Dairy Queen was great, and the Safeway store was not outrageous.

This park is one of our favorites. The property is immaculate and, if you have a Passport America card, it is one of the best values around. The only (minor) drawback is the lack of grass. However, it is the high desert so it is sort of expected. We have a dog and finding a spot to go potty can be challenging. There is a train that goes by so if noise is a concern for you, it may not be a great fit. The bathrooms and showers were great and the staff is very helpful! We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Williams is a great, little town. It takes about an hour to get to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. There is a Camping World about 25 minutes east of the park, which was handy when we needed some supplies.

Don't look at the photo on the website. It's misleading. This is fine for an overnight, but not a place to stay for more than that. That said, after two days we asked for a refund for the other five days, and though they weren't happy about it, they gave it to us. They are kind people trying to do their best, but this place is right next to a huge truck stop, with lots of noise, and also near the highway and railroad tracks. We moved on. Overall Rating:

Good location in scenic area. Easy on and off I-40. Because there is a truck stop across the road it is quite noisy most of the time with trucks coming in and going out. Lava rock is used for road and site bed. It has, over time, pulverized into a fine powder. When it is dry this creates a red dust that settles on everything. Park was very busy this time of the year with people headed south and down for winter. Staff was great. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Fast food is very expensive in Williams, but local restaurants are reasonable and quite good. There is a Safeway grocery store. It can be also expensive unless you have a store card. The Grand Canyon Railroad leaves from here almost everyday. We drove to the Grand Canyon which about an hour each way. Shopping is very limited here, but Flagstaff is not that far away.

Don't be fooled by the pretty photos of red lava streets and green trees; behind the photos this park is a dump. It is about 75% filled with low income, permanent residents, living in old, dilapidated trailers and motorhomes. There no apparent effort by the management to police these residents, maintain the sites, or clean the grounds.

A sign in the office states "No Refunds." So be forewarned, If you end up parked next to white trash in an old trailer with three dogs and four kids, your tough luck. Suggest you drive through, before you pay. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

This park is located directly across the road from Love's Travel Stop. There are 18-wheelers coming and going until late at night. The noise, combined with the bright lights, gets old. I wouldn't want to be here more than one day. There was a horse trailer parked next to us that seemed to attract flies.

Sewer connection plus 20 and 30 amp electricity. Power was stable and the pedestal was clean. We camped at Canyon Gateway RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Williams is a fun town albeit with lots of Grand Canyon "rubber tomahawk-style" souvenir shops. Great steaks at Best Western on west end of town. Good breakfast & lunch at Pine Country Restaurant. Dara Thai is also good as is Red Raven Restaurant.

Artist' co-op "The Gallery in Williams" has beautiful pieces by local artists. The Joseph Robertson Gallery has wonderful native American art including pottery, weaving, metal works and, of course, paintings.
