Still one of our favorite NF CGs. We don't stay at the Group Area per se, but the individual campsites are in the same area, just a different loop.

This year, we found that we get slightly better cell coverage at the northwest end of the CG, near the host. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

This "Dry Camping" - so no utilities. Very nice picnic tables and fire rings. I rated the CG a ten on the merits of the questions, but be warned - there is plenty of noise from people running generators, which is frustrating, because I wouldn't take the gift of one.

I have a 19' Airstream - other campers were mostly Class A's and larger 5th wheels. the larger the "rigs" the more generator noise you'll encounter. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Literally minutes from the center of Williams. All good roads. Nicely wooded and some sites have lake views.

This is an outstanding campground for those who don't need/want utilities. There's water at each (very clean) vault toilet, but filling RVs is discouraged. The driveways and pads are all asphalt (note: can't select asphalt in Site Surface) so there's hardly any dust. There are Ponderosa pines all around that cut down wind but allow enough sunlight so solar panels work fine.

The campground is just 1.6 miles north of I-40 so it's convenient for an overnight stay vs the hassle of checking into a commercial campground . The hosts are helpful and personable except one blowhard who's annoying but harmless.

There's a dump station at Love's Truck Stop 4 miles west on I-40. They also have good fuel prices, propane, a tire shop if you need it and, of course, fast food. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Williams has done a great job of developing their own identity. First, it has great food from a good steak house (Rod's) to diners (Pine Country) to beer gardens to theme (50s) eateries.

Second, it's the "Gateway to the Grand Canyon" so there's GC themed stuff everywhere. Check out the GC Railway.

Third, Kaibab National Forest is a great place for an overnight stop or up to the 14 day limit.

Fourth, don't plan on stocking up on groceries. Prices are expensive and variety is AWOL.

I love this place! We occupied a pull-through site with our 38 foot motorhome. We were able to get DirecTV by peeking through the abundant tree coverage. Make sure you come to this campground with water in your tank and your other tanks empty. There is no dump in the park. There are new asphalt roads and site parking. The campground host was very helpful. I was surprised that you could hear so much highway noise here. Thanks for the co-mingled recycling here; wish Corps of Engineers would do likewise in their campgrounds. We would stay here again. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

This CG has 3 large group areas and also individual and double sites. It is really nice in the pines and the sites are well-spaced with many pull-throughs. We planned to stay 4 nights but liked it so much we stayed for 8. The lake was really down because of the drought conditions, but a few people were still fishing. No campfires either. Quiet and friendly hosts kept things well-maintained. We went to one of the private CGs in Williams to use their dump facilities. Dry camping with pit toilets and tables at each site. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

Best dry camping available. $9 rate reflects senior 50% discount. This campground has had a $1.5 million upgrade thanks to the government stimulus money. I think it was money well spent. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds for Dry Camping. Sites fill up after Tuesday in the summer. Short walk to a small quiet lake. Normal restroom smell in the chemical toilet. Spaces are nicely spread out. Senior discount made it $9/night. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

Dry camping at its best! Big sites with lots of room between spaces. Lots of pull throughs: mostly shady with a few in the open. Sites have tables and campfire rings, and easy access. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

If you are looking for amenities, then one of the other campgrounds in Williams would be better for you. However, if you are looking for a peaceful environment with lots of space between you and your neighbors then this is the place. Hosts were extremely friendly and helpful even as far as bringing firewood up to the site for us. We travel in a 45 footer and although the Forest Service web-site lists a 35 foot length limit, there were several sites that would accommodate us. No facilities, so load up the water tank, run the generator as necessary and enjoy. We arrived on a Thursday, managed to get a site, first come first served, and stayed over a very busy weekend when the campground was full. However because of the layout and our site location, we did not realize how busy it was. If this sounds appealing, give it a shot. If you cannot get in here are several other campgrounds in Williams that will probably have spaces available. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.

Pleasant campground only a mile or so north of I-40, on the way to Grand Canyon. The lake is very nice and fishing is allowed. Sites are fairly well spaced and largely shaded. We camped at Kaibab Nat'l Forest Kaibab Lake Group Area in a Motorhome.
