Nice big spaces, clean, quiet. Our CSR made me feel like it was a 'chore' to check me in. Make sure to ASK for a park brochure at the Visitor's Center so you know about things to do in the park. Bathrooms need a complete overhaul but they were usable. There was a space heater in the women's bathroom plugged into an outlet right at the sink-that was unsafe. We would return. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We kayaked the Clear Creek River at McHood Park. Once you get past the graffiti on the rocks it's a beautiful paddle! Visit Little Painted Desert, Petrified National Forest and Winslow for "Standing on the corner..". The park has a visitor center, couple trails and ruins to tour.

This is a very nice State Park campground with full hookups in season. During the winter they turn off the water. Easy to navigate for big rigs and the pull through site we were in was plenty big for the motor home and Jeep. Took a look at the showers but didn't use them. They looked clean and functional. Perfect stop for an overnight as we were just passing through. Close to I-40. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Access to the park is easy from I-40. The paved road into the park is a little rough. Perimeter roads are paved as are the sites. Our site came with a permanently mounted Grill, Fire Pit and Metal Table as well as 30 Amp Power and a water spigot (that was turned off). You must drive to the visitor center (not easily walk-able from the campground) to check in. I would advise a drive through the park to choose a spot first. Be aware that not all sites have power. No sites have sewer. Water is turned off during the cold season. 50 Amp only at the few Pull Thru sites. Note also that it can get very windy here usually blowing from the SSW and it can come up fast. You might want your door on the lee side. The washroom is poorly located at the top of the second loop. There are no pathways that lead to it and walking through the brush is not recommended. A trash bin is located at the dump station and there is no recycling program. Check in was quick and informative. We noted that there is a camp host on-site but did not see a person perform any duties during the three days were there. There is no pet area and we noticed a lot of dog droppings about. We discovered a couple of "Cow Pies" on our table when we arrived. Perhaps someone wanted to dry them out to burn. We believe the service facilities are poorly laid out. No maintenance takes place (other than the washrooms were somewhat clean). There are no services, restaurants, or groceries within walking distance. Winslow is about 15 minutes away and all services can be found there. We paid $20.00 night and feel that the value is just fair. There is not much else to choose from in the area but we will look hard before we would return. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The painted desert and petrified forest are a little far from here but can be done. A visit to Standing on a Corner Park is a must if you have ever heard the Eagles song "Takin it easy". The ruins, we found to be a little disappointing and could not be reached by foot from the campground. A visit to the Giant Crater ( half hour drive) is a must. There is a Walmart in Winslow.

Agree with previous review not much to do except see the ruins, but is was very quite and relaxing. I would not recommend site 20. It is probability the most unlevel site at the CG. The connections at the pull-thru sites are on the wrong side. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here during the off-season. Water at sites not available (13 degree temps in the morning). Potable water available at drum station/entrance. Electric only during off-season. Heated restrooms and showers. Beautiful, rugged country. Definitely want to return during warmer weather and visit the Ruins, etc. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Loved staying here! Only stayed one night but easily could have 2-3. Quiet and very clean. Not much to do around the park but very relaxing. Only thing is no full hookups. Only water and electric. Well worth a visit on the way through Arizona We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Basic stopover for 1 night or 2 if you want to explore the ruins. Far enough off the freeway so that it is quiet at night. Our Site was a pullthru blacktop site with water and electric, a picnic table and a fire pit. Area is high desert open with no trees. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

A nice park just outside Winslow, AZ. Sites were spacious and all had good views of the valley and surrounding mountains. We had to move from our reserved spot because it was so far out of level and a tree prevented us from positioning the rig close enough to the water and electric connections. the second spot was a little more level, but at least we could reach the hookups. There's a convenient dump station at the exit of the campground. The camp hosts were extremely friendly and cooperative. They know the spots can challenge for longer rigs so they're pretty flexible about which way you drive through the loops... it was easier to drive the "wrong" way on the road to get into our second site, and they had no problem with that. It's a good spot to spend a few nights if you're passing through. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Winslow is kind of a sad little town, but you have to at least see Standin' on the Corner Park, especially if you're an Eagles / Glenn Frey fan. Some fun souvenir shops to browse through if you have the time to kill.

This would be great if it had sewer and trees. But it is the high desert, so it is good to be grateful to have water and electric. Campground hosts were on top of it from 7 a.m. until after 7 p.m. Friendly, concerned, helpful, and the guy was quite talkative. Sites were clean, restrooms good. Little trees and not much shade, but they try. Spaces are spread apart, it is very quiet at night, and during the day depending on the neighbors. I found it very peaceful. I'd return but I think I won't want to see the sights near here again. Night skies are starry. The water is very good here, no chemical tastes. Plenty of hiking and sightseeing nearby. Beautiful desert park with a lot of history.Very nice visitor center with friendly & informative park rangers & host. Many trails to hike and ruins to see. Sites are paved level sites with table & fire pit. W&E only (30amps at back-ins - 50 amp pull thrus). Beautiful sun sets. 2nd time here and would definitely return. Only given 9 because it does not have sewer hook up. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice state park with a lot of room between sites and large enough sites for our 41 foot fifth wheel. Although the park doesn't have sewer on the sites we stayed in site 39 and it did have a sewer connection which was nice. We would stay there again if visiting the area. Very close to Winslow and only about a mile off the highway but highway noise was not a problem at all. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Very nice park with large sites and good separation between sites. Conveniently located right off I-40, but not close enough to the interstate for the noise to be an issue. Close to Winslow which is a fun little town to visit, especially to get a picture "Standing on the corner". The desert sunsets are beautiful here! About a mile from I-40, this state park was clean and quiet, the perfect overnight stop on our road trip. There were only 3 sites occupied the night we were there. The restrooms were as clean as you would expect for a state park. Shower rooms were separate from the bathrooms, and looked clean. We didn't use them. Hookups are on the passenger side, but we didn't have any trouble reaching under the rig to connect the electricity. Clear night sky, you can see lots of stars. We'd like to return when it's warmer to explore the ruins. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent state park. Water ,30 and 50 amp electrical with some sites with sewer. Located north of Winslow, the park is the site of an old Hopi ancestral settlement. Visitor Center has several exhibits and the staff is outstanding at providing information for guests. Also ranger guided tours to pictographs and the old pueblo sites. About 20 minutes north is what is called the Little Painted Desert. Make a trip up to Hopi and go to Second Mesa. The Visitor Center/Restaurant offers an excellent Blue Taco, a local specialty. Park is dog friendly and camp hosts friendly. Star gazing is outstanding. We make it a regular stop as we travel on I-40 in Arizona. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Travel Trailer.
