Overall Rating:

We used the reservation system and booked site 5 for our 42' class A. The park is very attractive, well maintained and has some really nice views. Roads and sites all paved and our site was almost dead level. The camp host was very friendly and helpful. We had 50 amp electric and water - no sewer. Site 5 is huge and we had ample room for everything. The only slight issue is the interior roads are one-way and had we followed that the hookups would have been on the passenger side. The camp host allowed us to go against the flow and scoot into the site the "correct" direction which put the hookups where they belong. The campground was pretty empty so I don't know if that would have been a problem had it been full. The last wonderful thing about this place is it is dark at night! And you can see the stars. We explored Winslow for a few hours and fueled at the Flying J on the way out in the morning. Wonderful little place and not only would we overnight here again we would not mind coming for 2-3 nights and look at the ruins, take a hike and enjoy Winslow a bit more. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We had dinner at the Turquoise Room in the La Posta Hotel. It was one of the original Harvey Hotels built for the railroads. It is a beautiful place, the food was excellent and the atmosphere original - we felt like we had pulled in on a train and were enjoying a dinner stop before resuming our train journey. Worth spending some time wandering around the hotel.

Overall Rating:

This state park is only about 2 miles off of I40. Roads are paved and so are all sites. Park only had about 5 RVs in it during our stay. Our site was level with some shade. Most sites have some shade, but trees are small so shade is a premium. Online reservations do not tell you that there are a few 50 amp FHUs sites. Those sites are 1, 2 and 39. Not sure if these are just for campground hosts but a camper with a tent took one of these FHUs sites while we were there. Very easy for Big Rigs to maneuver and park here. There is a nice bathhouse that seems very clean. There are two Homolovi ruin sites here. Homolovi 1 has not been excavated yet, but you can follow a trail through it. Homolovi 2 has one kivas that has been excavated to view. Verizon Cell service good. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

What Can I say? 'Standin on the corner in Winslow AZ'. Nice tourist trap. But the really must see in Winslow is the La Posada Hotel. Built in 1930 and was the last of Harvey railroad hotels. It's been restored. Great southwestern architecture and furnishing. If you do go there you might want to eat at 'The Turquoise Room' located within the hotel. Fair prices, good service and reasonable prices.

Price is for a pull-through with water and 50 amp electric. An interesting park with campsites that have incredible views. Nice hiking trails and several ruins that make you feel that you are part of native history. The only drawback is that several of the paved roads are so bad that you have to slow to 5 mph in a motorhome, which makes for a slow trip from the visitor center to the campground. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

This park is in the middle of the desert. Our daughter found a milk snake, which was cool. We're from GA where people are usually chatty. The ranger here didn't say anything besides the park rules. This is a great place for a night, but not a vacay kind of place. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great state park. It is far enough off of I-40. Water and Electric in most spots. Back in and pull through sites that spaced well. Clean showers. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice state park conveniently located just over a mile from I-40. You can see the freeway but you cannot hear it. There are 53 sites within 2 campground loops and are a mix of back-in and pull throughs. All sites are level and spacious, with water/electric only, except for site 39 which is the only site with sewer. This is the site we stayed in. Sites have picnic tables, stand up grills and fire rings, but no shade. Interior roads are paved and easy to navigate. However, they have many large horizontal cracks (maybe for water runoff?) that make the roads rough to drive over, sort of like inverted speed bumps. The area around the park is mostly open desert with very few trees. We were only able to get 7 OTA channels (4 spanish and 3 english). Verizon service was excellent. Good signage to the park. Main bathrooms were clean with three toilets per gender and had hand soap, hand dryer and even toilet seat covers. There was also a single private handicapped bathroom. There were four private showers (2 were out of order), but they were very dated and are in desperate need of a facelift (we didn't use them). No laundry facilities. Winds were ever present during our stay with gusts up to 50 mph (and blew the smoke from the nearby Tinder Fire into the park), making being outside uncomfortable. Park rangers drove through the campground regularly. There is a nice visitor's center within the park and the staff were friendly and helpful. The park also has a dump station, but we didn't use it. We liked this park and would return. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

There are two Hopi Indian ruin sites within the campground and are easily accessed with paved trails. Walmart is 3-4 miles away in Winslow. We visited the "standing on the corner" area of Winslow which was pretty cool. High winds kept us from seeing other sights in the area.

Nice big spaces, clean, quiet. Our CSR made me feel like it was a 'chore' to check me in. Make sure to ASK for a park brochure at the Visitor's Center so you know about things to do in the park. Bathrooms need a complete overhaul but they were usable. There was a space heater in the women's bathroom plugged into an outlet right at the sink-that was unsafe. We would return. Tips for other Campers:

We kayaked the Clear Creek River at McHood Park. Once you get past the graffiti on the rocks it's a beautiful paddle! Visit Little Painted Desert, Petrified National Forest and Winslow for "Standing on the corner..". The park has a visitor center, couple trails and ruins to tour.

Access to the park is easy from I-40. The paved road into the park is a little rough. Perimeter roads are paved as are the sites. Our site came with a permanently mounted Grill, Fire Pit and Metal Table as well as 30 Amp Power and a water spigot (that was turned off). You must drive to the visitor center (not easily walk-able from the campground) to check in. I would advise a drive through the park to choose a spot first. Be aware that not all sites have power. No sites have sewer. Water is turned off during the cold season. 50 Amp only at the few Pull Thru sites. Note also that it can get very windy here usually blowing from the SSW and it can come up fast. You might want your door on the lee side. The washroom is poorly located at the top of the second loop. There are no pathways that lead to it and walking through the brush is not recommended. A trash bin is located at the dump station and there is no recycling program. Check in was quick and informative. We noted that there is a camp host on-site but did not see a person perform any duties during the three days were there. There is no pet area and we noticed a lot of dog droppings about. We discovered a couple of "Cow Pies" on our table when we arrived. Perhaps someone wanted to dry them out to burn. We believe the service facilities are poorly laid out. No maintenance takes place (other than the washrooms were somewhat clean). There are no services, restaurants, or groceries within walking distance. Winslow is about 15 minutes away and all services can be found there. We paid $20.00 night and feel that the value is just fair. There is not much else to choose from in the area but we will look hard before we would return. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The painted desert and petrified forest are a little far from here but can be done. A visit to Standing on a Corner Park is a must if you have ever heard the Eagles song "Takin it easy". The ruins, we found to be a little disappointing and could not be reached by foot from the campground. A visit to the Giant Crater ( half hour drive) is a must. There is a Walmart in Winslow.

This is a very nice State Park campground with full hookups in season. During the winter they turn off the water. Easy to navigate for big rigs and the pull through site we were in was plenty big for the motor home and Jeep. Took a look at the showers but didn't use them. They looked clean and functional. Perfect stop for an overnight as we were just passing through. Close to I-40. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.

Agree with previous review not much to do except see the ruins, but is was very quite and relaxing. I would not recommend site 20. It is probability the most unlevel site at the CG. The connections at the pull-thru sites are on the wrong side. We camped at Homolovi Ruins State Park in a Motorhome.
