Springhill is another well designed COE park. Campground roads were worn, but in good repair. Interior roads were easy to navigate. Sites were not all level, but we were able to level easily. Many sites were directly along a creek which feeds into the Arkansas River with great views. Some things showed wear, including the picnic table on our site. Fishing and mountain biking are popular in this park. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Fort Smith offered a number of activities for understanding the history of the area and its relationship to the "Indian Territories" (modern day Oklahoma). Don't miss the National Historic Site with its excellent presentations on the role of Fort Smith in the settlement of the west. In addition, we found good shopping, entertainment and dining in the region.

What a little gem of a place. Am afraid to write a good review because that will send folks here. Loop A has nice river views and quiet. Only 30 amps on this loop. Loop B is nice but the spaces look very uneven and some looked unusable. When making reservations be sure to check that the site has water some do not. Close to Ft Smith. We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

When booking this site I was mainly looking for value and didn't expect much for just $9.00 but were we ever surprised! I had chosen a spot that backed up to the water and the site and park are beautiful! Couldn't have asked for more. Even if we had to pay the full rate of $18.00 it would have been a good value. I just wish I could have given the park a 10 rating but it does not have sewer.

Also the park is close to Ft. Smith to go into town to tour the old fort. Very interesting and worth the time. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We enjoyed this park. Friendly Work Campers. We happened to pick one of few sites without water. But we bought an extra length of hose and shared with the neighbor, no problem. Our site was level and nice and long. We made contact with some of the volunteers through RVillage and were invited to a birthday party. Lots to see and do in Russellville which is not far. The campground was nice and quiet. Some of the sites are not very level, pick carefully. We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

Easy access to and in the park with our 40'+ RV but our back-in site (B3) was at a 90 degree angle from the road; not an overly hard site to back in but a little angle would have been nice. "B" section sites are wooded with 50 amp electric and most (but not all) sites have water. "A" section has wider paved sites with less overhead cover along the water but only 30 amp electric and most (but not all) sites have water. Very helpful and friendly woman at the front access gate / booth. Quiet at night. Only a few minutes away from Fort Smith proper. We would stay again. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We always enjoy COE campgrounds. We stayed in the "B" loop, which had 50 amp water and electric. The site was grass and stone/sand......not a problem until it rained, and it got a little mucky. The water and electric worked as it should, and we had to use our portable satellite dome as we had heavier tree cover (great for shade!). The "A" loop is mostly 30amp electric service/water, but the sites are concrete, and there is a better view of the water. We would try to stay in that section next time we are in the area. Highly recommend! We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

Stayed on the "A" site (near the lock & dam). Since it's a Corp of Engineers park none of the sites have sewer, but all in the "A" sites have both 30 & 50 amp as well as water. The dump station is near the front gate and fairly easy to get a long 5th wheel into. Very peaceful with a backwater bay behind the sites. About a five minute walk to the playground and pavilion/open grassy field. While the lock is active with a highway over the top of the dam the noise wasn't noticeable at night. The "B" side the sites are among the trees; while beautiful some are a little challenging for the longer trucks & trailers to back into. I would recommend if your in the area. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed 2 nights in a 5th wheel. We have stayed here 3 times and love it. We stayed in section A which is on a feeder to the Arkansas River. At $9/nite with a Senior Pass, it was a great deal with electric & water only. It is a few miles south of I-40 and east of I-46. Sites and roads are paved and in very good condition. Nestled in the woods with a lot of room, it was very serene. The sites are back-in with picnic tables and a fire pit. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Springhill COE has two camping areas, A and B. We spent 7 nights in site B2 ($20/night), which like many sites is quite large. 'B' side is more wooded. B16 and B18 had small shelters over their picnic tables. 'A' side has a different feel, being situated along a wide, quiet river with fewer trees and closer sites. All the A sites appeared to have double wide paved areas. Bring your mountain bike as the 10 mile mountain bike trail is a lot of fun. My kids (7&9) and I biked it in 2-3 mile segments over a few days. We camped at Springhill COE in a Travel Trailer.

This COE Park was a find! At $9/nite with a Senior Parks Pass, it was a great deal with electric & water only. It is a ways off of I-40 (about 15-20 miles to the south) but the setting can't be beat. You are located on a offshoot of the Arkansas River in the woods with a lot of room. The sites are back-in with picnic tables and a fire pit. We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

Very nice COE park. Lots of space between most sites. A few sites had dried mud on them from recent rains, but overall a good campground from which to visit the Fort Smith area. We camped at Springhill COE in a Travel Trailer.

Overall a very nice place to stay for a night or longer. I paid $10.00 per night for one of a few full-hookups spaces using a senior all America pass. Plenty of room between well shaded sites. Quiet, peaceful place but plenty of things to do for kids. We camped at Springhill COE in a Motorhome.

Shore services good. Many 30 amp only sites but there are some 50 amp. Good water pressure. We stayed in area A which is along the river bank. Sites are asphalt and easy to level. There are no planes, trains or highways near by so it is nice and quiet. Each area is a long drive from the main gate, roads are good. Satellite might be difficult at some sites. We had to put our dish almost in the neighbor's site to get reception. There is a lot of room between sites. Putting out an awning would be no problem. Showers are a pretty long way, but they are very nice. They have the toilet, sink ,and shower in each room. It is much more private. Dumpsters are in a inconvenient area. You can't drive by when leaving and deposit trash. My Sprint air card worked very well. You can use a credit card if the volunteer hosts are not there. The volunteer's can not use the computer or credit card system. The dump station is in a strange location. You have to drive off the road to leave the park and make a tight left hand turn to get into the dump area. They allow you to dump gray water with a hose at the camp sites, so we didn't use the Waste dump. Many of the camp sites have only electric, but no water. We would stay here again. Our rate reflects using the Golden Age Pass. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Friendly and helpful staff. Huge mature trees, so lots of shade after mid-March. Side A is more manicured with sites closer together, fewer trees, but close to the water. Side B is more hilly, with many trees and sites farther apart. All sites are back-in and some 90 degrees to the road, so they are more difficult to get into if you're not a skilled backer-upper. Restrooms have a push-button water supply with no control over the temp, but are reasonable, and showers are individual rooms with locks. Limited to 2 weeks per site, but extensions are possible. Very close to lots of shopping and restaurants in Fort Smith, but far enough out of town to avoid most of the noise. Military aircraft do fly over frequently, though. Mama's Cafe in nearby Barling is a must - meatloaf or chicken & dumpling specials are YUM. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice COE campground. Lots of room sites are long not all are real level. Lot of area for kids. They have water and electric but no sewer but has a dump station. Only reason I didn't give it a 10 is that it doesn't have sewer hook-ups. We camped at Springhill COE in a Fifth Wheel.
