It's really hard to say that it was Excellent because my stay was not excellent. The location in itself was nice, but where we camped was not. In fact, we had to leave in the middle of the night. We left all of our belongings and got the first hotel room we could find. Around 9pm we were bombarded by roaches. COCKROACHES!!! They were crawling all over us and were crawling down my shirt. We couldn't get away from them. So in a panic, we left all of our things there and ran to a hotel and showered. We came back the next day to get our things. The bathrooms that were by our site, were very smelly... but they were not flushing toilets. They were outhouse style. By the swim area was a very nice bathroom with showers. It was very clean and nice. We will come back to swim, but most likely will not stay in the park. We love to camp, and do it often, but this was by far the worst experience we have ever had. And I have been in a flooded tent from it raining all night. This was gross. Roaches are nasty!

The swimming area is very nice, but be careful when entering the water. Instead of having the concrete beach incline into the water. It starts to incline, and then there is a 2 foot drop. I scraped the back of my leg because I didn't know that it dropped. And I'm short We camped at Greers Ferry Lake, Choctaw Campground (COE) in a Tent.

The rate reflects a 50% Senior Pass discount. This campground on Greers Ferry Lake has moderately easy access from U.S. Route 65; it is about 4 miles on paved but narrow roads. There are 91 electric sites and 55 non-electric. The sites in D loop 1 through 13 are 50 amp, the remainder are 30 amp. Almost all of the electric sites are reservable but the non-electric are not. The reservation window starts in Mid-May. There is no water at the sites. A few of the sites are on or near the water. Many of the sites have some significant slope. We were at the park the early part of May when all sites were walk-up. The park was not very busy with only a few campers but many fishermen. Only a couple of the loops were open. They were taking only cash or checks because the computers were not working. There is no security gate at night as there are at many Corp of Engineer parks. The attendant said that the park was well patrolled and that a gate was unnecessary. We would have been more comfortable with a gate, but did not have any problems. We never saw a patrol. There was a lot of drive-by activity during the day partly due to the layout of the park where you can drive though the campground to get to the marina, boat dock, and swimming area. The park is heavily treed so satellite can be difficult in many sites. We had a site where we could get DirecTV. Over Verizon phone and data plan worked well. We would stay here again as a night stopover. We camped at Greers Ferry Lake, Choctaw Campground (COE) in a Motorhome.
