Lake Catherine State Park is a very pretty state park on a reservoir in the Hot Springs area. This is the prettiest park we’ve stayed at in our current trip. Our site was right on the lake in the B loop, which is the older loop. Our site had 30 amp and water, but the water was on the wrong side, and we needed almost exactly 50 feet of hose to get to it. All of the water hookups in the B loop were the same. The C loop is newer, has larger pads, sewer hookups, and hookups are more conventionally arranged. In our small class C, we preferred the B loop because we had a beautiful lakefront site all to ourselves. Even on a weekday in November, the C loop was full. We felt like we were camping by a beautiful lake by ourselves. The site was paved and basically level. While we were there there was a sizable rainstorm, which is the story of our lives on this trip. A couple of sites were completely flooded, but most of the campground survived pretty well. AT&T was excellent. Verizon was passable. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

Very nice campsites and no problem with our 36' RV. Had a peaceful spot on the lake. Our site was across from power plant so when the plan was running you could hear it but not really annoying. Stayed here as we visited Hot Springs National Park and Hot Springs Off Road Park. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

Paradise !! wish we could have stayed long. We had 33'TT w. Ram 2500 extended cab plus two bassets. Had plenty of room. Campsites are beautiful, roads easy to navigate. Campground is beautiful. Bathrooms are clean and spacious. Would highly recommend this park. Our site only had water & power; some have sewer. Dump station nearby. Stop and enjoy this beautiful campground. Lots of walking trails, one lead to waterfalls & swinging bridge. Kids and pets welcome !!! We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Large, very pretty state park. Nice hilly terrain, lots of trees and a great view of the lake. Relaxing place for just a stop over or a vacation. About twenty miles out of town so come with plenty of fuel and what you plan to eat. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

The signs in the park are small and hard to find and the map they give you is sort of confusing. Drive slow and pay attention so you don't miss your section or your site.

Overall Rating:

We had the 50amp FHU back in site along the lake and I would highly recommend getting a lake site. The interior sites were decent too but the lake ones were really nice. Good solid 50 amps, flat sites. Plenty of room and didn't feel crowded at all. Interior roads are rough so take it slow. The bathrooms were clean and showers are in good condition. There's great hiking trails to a waterfall and downtown Hot Springs is fun. This is a dog friendly park with good space to hike and walk the dogs. OTA was solid and major channels came in fine. Cell was great. Pulled in over 30 d/l speeds with both Verizon and ATT unboosted. Didn't try T mobile. The only negative I can think of really is the huge factory on the other side of the lake distracts from the beauty of this place. Not much you can do about that. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

We love this park. Our view was fantastic overlooking the lake and we practically had the entire park to ourselves. The weather was pretty chilly most of the time, but we expected that. Utilities worked fine. We were in the partial hookup loop. Some reviews complained of sites being off level and I could see where that may be a problem on some sites. It would be nice if they posted photos or details of each site. Site #28 worked just fine for our 40' TT, but we wouldn't have been so lucky on some of the other ones. Verizon Mifi signal worked perfectly. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This park was one of my favorites after my first visit in 1965 and still is. Our relatively private FHU site backed up to the lake, allowing us to open our rear picture-window blinds for a wonderful view. Although it was the off-season and we had some rain, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We visited the national park in Hot Springs, but actually had as much fun just hiking and touring the old CCC-built state park buildings. Next time we visit, we will have our inflatable kayak along so we can explore more of the park, the lake, and the FISHING! We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

This lake was built by a power company in 1924 specifically to generate electricity and the "factory" there is a gas-fired power plant. Magnet Cove is one of the most famous mineral collecting areas in North America, producing barite used in heavy oil drilling mud and novaculite for "Arkansas stone" knife sharpeners. So, this is not a secluded, pristine paradise, but a century-old industrial area. Guess you have to take the "bad" with good if you want to enjoy this beautiful lake!

We stayed for 4 nights and really enjoyed visiting Hot Springs. This park is a nice, clean, quiet park with fairly large back-in asphalt spaces. Site 69 is next to the sewer processing system hidden behind a wooden fence that has a constant "humming" sound. There is a power plant directly across the lake, with distracting lights at night. The other sites in Loops A or B at the opposite end look more appealing. The trails were nice, but the waterfall was dry due to lack of rain. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We spent 2 nights there. It was very peaceful. Our site was not very good. It was not level either way do to tree roots. We didn't bring any leveling blocks and had our front end off the ground with jacks and still wasn't level. I did notice that the site next to mine (B-15) was just as bad as mine. It looked like most of the other sites were pretty good. The camp hosts were very helpful. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

We camped at Lake Catherine for 4 nights. Family members joined us in a travel trailer. They used the restrooms and showers and were amazed at their cleanliness. There are several well-marked trails including a trek to a small but picturesque waterfall. Watch out for ticks, though. Bad this spring! The park was quiet and the lake was beautiful and clean. The only spoiler was a factory or plant of some kind on the opposite shore. When life at night, even that was pretty, tho. Our site was level and easy to back into. We had 50 amp service full hookups. We did not have a tow vehicle but the site would have accommodated one easily. Would consider going there again. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Hot Springs is a fun place to visit. The historic Promenade is a great place to stroll above the crowds, and the town's architecture is beautiful. We especially enjoyed a shop there called All Things Arkansas. It's a family-owned business and everything in the shop is from Arkansas. We purchased a beautiful stained-glass lamp created by a local artist. The owner is very knowledgeable about quartz and other mineral formations native to the state.

I must say, this has to be one of the quietest & most peaceful parks I have ever visited. It is near no major highways, airports or major rail lines and we visited Sunday evening and early week in the fall, so few families were there. It was mainly older adults there enjoying the solitude. There is a power plant directly across the lake, but it is a quiet one. The staff was friendly and helpful. The park is well laid out and well kept. We stayed in a beautiful lakeside site thanks to reserving early. As I have observed at other Arkansas state parks, there are interesting tours and presentations offered by the rangers routinely. It is a relatively short drive to Hot Springs. We camped at Lake Catherine State Park in a Fifth Wheel.
