We stayed five nights in a 40 foot fifth wheel. We loved this park. Spacious sites, great hook up, fantastic location, excellent location. The "A" loop is full hookup 50 amp sites with views of the water but not on the water. The sites are long, appear level, and most have an adjacent parking pad for your tow vehicle or toad. The "B" through "E" loops are smaller sites with electric and water but no sewer. The "F" loop where we chose to stay is full hookup, 30 amp, waterfront. While we would have preferred 50 amp due to the weather we really wanted waterfront and had, in my opinion, the very best site on that loop, site 114. The "F" loop sites are shorter and most will not have room for your tow vehicle on the pad if you are in a rig like ours. However, sites 112-114 are quite long and would work just fine if you are ok with 30 amp service. The restrooms were pretty standard campground type with the exception of the newer one marked on the map as "heated." This one was very modern, with eight individual stalls that each include toilet, sink, and shower. Very nice. We say plenty of deer. The lake was once the main channel of the Mississippi before it was dammed off. Now it is referred to as a, "natural oxbow remnant." We didn't fish but it looks like the fishing would be great. They only have one official hiking trail and it was closed for some reason. That was a shame because it looked like it would be a great walk in the woods. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We are well seasoned travelers to the Arkansas State Parks. We have visited 44 of the 52 parks, and we have RV camped in all but 3 that have campgrounds. So when we invited friends to have their first AR State Park camping experience with us at Lake Chicot State Park we thought they were in for a treat. How sadly mistaken and embarrassed we were. First the encounter at check-in was unpleasant. A park ranger in the visitor center was helpful after seeing the woman working the desk seemed all but irritated we were there interrupting her day. I ran across one other friendly park employee who was not a ranger...and that was it. Then we headed to our site. The roads in this park are abysmal compared to other AR State Parks. The sewer connection was at least 8" ABOVE ground level. We paid extra for the convenience of a sewer connection for that? I assure you we found no pleasure in working our sewer hose up and down to work our waste UP the grade to dump it. I honestly thought, perhaps, the park was getting set to close down for a complete overhaul. But not so. It is simply horribly maintained. The condition of the dock and rental watercraft was terrible. Another thing that would have been nice would have been had the unfriendly people at the visitor center check-in warn us of the utter infiltration of fire ant colonies all throughout the park. Not that they have the ability to eradicate the fire ants, but a warning that every site, the fields, trails, and all along the road are infested with fire ants would have been nice. I pity the person who comes in after dark to hook up his RV and he or his dog stumble across one of these many mounds. In summary this is the absolutely worst Arkansas State Park experience we have ever had. We had high hopes here, but they failed at every turn. Considering I have NEVER given an Arkansas State Park a negative review of any kind, I can state for certain we will not be returning to this park. Too bad...the lake was very enjoyable for kayaking and fishing. Avoid this park. The Arkansas State Park system has far too many other fine parks with beautiful, well-maintained grounds. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 1 night as a stop over for our trip back to Florida from Utah. I got tired of the private campgrounds that were basically a parking lot. This state park is a few miles off of the highway down a 2 lane farm road. It was a nice drive to the park. We did not have reservations but we were able to grab the last pull thru campsite with full hook up. The campsite was level with lots of space between campsites. It was mostly an open grassy area between campsites. The restrooms were dated but clean. Very quiet night in the park. No cell service in the park with either ATT or Verizon. Very nice park that I wish we had more time to visit. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Water spigot was at front of the site requiring two hoses, and electric at the back where it should be. Deteriorated asphalt pads made it difficult to level. Old shower house, but clean. Lots off standing water after rains. Mosquitoes! We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Motorhome.

Our site backed right up to the dock. Numerous lakeside sites with beautiful views. The road is a little narrow and we had to drive in the grass to back into our site. The little bit of inconvenience is worth the gorgeous beauty. Cypress tress growing in the lake, sunsets, and green spaces. Warning: GPS made us turn just as we crossed the Mississippi River into Arkansas. Don't turn there. Gravel roads turns into a cow pasture. Turn around. The actual road you should take is paved and you'll have beautiful views of Lake Chicot all the way to the state park. I would love to return. We camped in a travel trailer. Overall Rating:

Park grounds have been neglected and drainage is extremely poor in several loops. Park did not live up to expectations from reviews. Ditches were silted in and leaves were clogging up tiles creating perfect breeding ground for mosquitoes. It appeared as though a couple of seasons of leaves and debris had built up. The park has such potential to be really beautiful with some TLC. Picking up limbs, mowing, and digging out ditches to promote drainage would go a long way towards improvement. Poor soil mechanics has also taken its toll on some of the roads in the park. In several places the road settling has created large crevices in the middle of the road that someone could easily twist or break an ankle if they didn't watch their steps. I would only recommend camping in Loop F because of poor drainage in other loops. Park Ranger was very nice and helpful in answering questions regarding fishing rules, licensing, and use of out of state boats. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for one night in the off season. There were a few other campers but we had the park to ourselves for the most part. Not all the toilet and shower facilities were open. The one that was open was clean. Overall park is a nice setting on Lake Chicot. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here 4 nights in a motor home. The sites are spacious with FHU. There is limited TV service and no Wi-Fi Service available. One will need a long hose for water. The park is very quiet and we were there over the week-end. The park has many people using the park for fishing since it is located on Lake Chicot. Greenville, MS is just across the river (25 miles). Nice park once you get here. Eight miles of a very narrow county road. Two big rigs meeting will be dicey. We camped right on the lake. Got wifi through cellphone hotspot. All major broadcasters on the antenna. Typical of a state park. That's not a negative comment. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Motorhome.

Price reflects a $10 senior discount. Our first impression was not good. A 9 mile long, bumpy paved road to get here, and pretty dreary campground since the trees had not yet leafed out, and severe thunderstorms were in the forecast. After the pleasant staff relocated us to a waterfront site and we got settled, our opinions improved. On a nice day (ours was not) and with some leaves on the trees, this would be a very beautiful park! Full hookups, electric and sewer in the far rear, water in front. We love Lake Chicot State Park. It's quiet, clean, with large sites, and lots of wildlife. Last night we watched several deer grazing next to one of the pavilions. We always stay in the premium section but we've biked all around the park and most sights are fine unless there has been lots of rain. Some of the no frills sites tend to flood. We will be back. Don't bring your Class A here! The electric wasn't working properly, breaker tripped and it smoked. The water hydrant knob just twisted all the way off; we had no water. The after hours number got us no response (at 6pm). The pavement was so old and soft that our jacks pushed holes in it. The park is beautiful and the many campers (in smaller travel trailers - 30' and under) seemed to really enjoy themselves. Thankfully we had some water on board and a generator, as they had no working utilities for us. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Motorhome.

If you're in a Class A, just stay away. If you're in an older unit or small trailer, it's fine. They told us the site was 65', but it was only 45'. Most sites appear to be even shorter.

Very nice park with beautiful views of the lake. The sites in "F" loop have a strange configuration and you better have a long water hose since the water hook-ups are on the wrong side and at the front of the site. Some of the sewer hook-ups are in an unusual position also. Except for this, the park is great. We camped at Lake Chicot State Park in a Motorhome.
