We had reserved the campsite at the top of the second loop turnaround referenced by another camper as scary. Well, it was a bit more difficult to back uphill but once we made it, we leveled and were tucked under good shade with an excellent view. The lake had heron, Canada goose and various ducks so our dog enjoyed the "squirrel TV " view out the big window with the waterfowl adding to the experience. Nice park, good sites, and we would return again. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

We live in a 45' motorhome. If you are big stay in the first loop the second has a scary sloped turnaround. I was SO happy i was not in it when my husband drove around the loop. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Since my husband is handicapped, I had called to find out which site was near the restrooms. The information was not shown on the campsite map on their website. It took two calls, since I left a message on the first one which was not returned. With the second call, I was able to determine which site would be best for us. Upon arrival we had a reservation for site 32 but there was no tag showing it was reserved. I found a ranger and he told me to just take it and he would be down later with the paper, but he never showed. Other than those problems and the restrooms/showers not being as clean as desired, our three day visit was quite nice. I do wish that each site had water. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

The park is delightful. The gate attendant even remembered our names. First loops have lake cove views, some actually on the shore, for splashes and waders. There sits the small but well equipped playground. The last loop has completely shaded spots with view of open lake. Separated by trees and shrubs, that loop's spots are closer together, but are wide and complete with picnic tables and fire rings. Prevailing breeze is from the SW, so virtually all the sites benefit from its refreshing affects. Fresh water refill faucets available at several sites, including the dump station. Clean, tidy, picturesque, and understandably heavily utilized on summer weekends, so reservations are a good idea. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Travel Trailer.

We had a very nice site, no sewer or water connection but the electric was 50 amp. The only problem I had with this campground was there was all the trash and litter left behind at the campsites. We have hosted for COE parks, and our job was to clean up campsites. When we reported the mess, the host here said, "It's the campers' responsibility to do that." We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

We always enjoy staying at this campground. Some sites are very near the water with great views, but most without shade. Some sites are more wooded without water views but nicely shaded. Most sites are fairly level. Our site was open so no problem with satellite. We had very good Verizon voice and data. The gate attendants were very nice and helpful. When we were there, it was very busy on the weekend, but the weekdays were very quiet. Most sites can be reserved, although a few are first-come. Reservations would be advisable during the busy season and definitely on the weekend. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a marina and restaurant within the recreation area. There are many things to do, from outdoor recreation, to indoor venues. I highly recommend the Crystal Bridges Museum in Bentonville.

This was a great place to spend a week. There are a lot of sites that overlook the lake and some that are back in the trees. The park is split into three different sections with some having little to no trees for shade, and some having lots of trees for shade. The lady who checked us in, a day early I might add, was as nice and pleasant as any we have run across. She was helpful and very efficient. The only down side to this park was the lack of restrooms. There is only one restroom and it is in the first section of the park. Two showers and were very clean. So if you are camping in a tent, keep in mind limited restroom facilities. Nice COE Park. We were in site 58 which had a nice view of lake. Site a little short for 28 ft trailer and truck. The 2 showers were a drive away. The park could use additional showers at this end of park. We're here to visit Bentonville and Eureka Springs. If you're a senior, you can't beat COE parks for the price. Very nice COE park. Beautiful view of a lake. Several nice paved sites. I reserved our site in advance and chose poorly. Most of the sites are really nice. Our site had a little curve in the middle. very low hanging branches at the entrance and a little shelter at the end. There is a front half, an exit road and then the back half. I recommend the front half because the turn around for the back half is on a pretty good hillside. Scared me but got through it ok. If they trimmed up the trees throughout it would be an excellent campground. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

The rate reflects a 50% senior discount. We have stayed at this park about 3 times over the last few years. It is a nice COE park on Beaver Lake. It is starting to show some signs of neglect, probably due to budget restrictions, but still nice. This visit the lake is lower so not quite as great but still nice with some waterfront sites. The sites are paved and most are OK level, but some are sloped. The park is not far off the interstate and not too difficult to get to, but lots of traffic. There are lots of businesses in the area. We were able to get satellite television at our site (number 15) and Verizon phone and air card worked well. This could well be a destination park. A nice place to spend a week or two. It is a great birding site. We will definitely stay here again. We camped at Hickory Creek Park COE in a Motorhome.
