14 full hook-up RV sites. Some back-in, some pull thru. Sites are level concrete with a gravel sitting area. Some sites are a little close, but in general they are spaced fairly well. Site 14 (back-in site) is the nicest site in the campground. It's more private than the others and has access to it's own peninsula complete with bench seat for viewing the lake or fishing. This site, like some of the others, has a metal fence around the back of the site. Someone did a nice job of spacing the utilities out so they don't interfere with slide outs, however, the sewer connection is just "stubbed up" with no threads or bayonet connection - (why?). You'll have to use the resident rock to hold your sewer hose in. Water pressure was OK at 60psi. The campground is flat and bicycle friendly. There are nice hiking/biking trails in the park, and a small swimming beach is adjacent to the campground. There are 3 tent sites in the RV area (if you like improved bathrooms), but a better pick for tent campers would be one of the 8 tent sites in the Lone Pine campground down the road (in the same park). Those are much more rustic and private. Although access to the campground is not controlled, it seems secure and park rangers were seen several times during the day. Signage in the park is good, all except the small one that tells you to check in at the Visitor's Center before setting up, and the Visitor's Center is about 4 miles before you get to the campground. Most campers just get a note from the ranger to come back to the Visitor's Center. There appears to be an active schedule of nature programs by the park. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Kayak rentals are available at the visitor's center - $20 for 8AM to 3PM, or $40 for overnight. The visitor's center also has live fishing bait and a small, but well appointed, nature center.

This is a great little campground. Every site has water views. The park rangers checked on the campground at least twice a day. Great place to go fishing either from the bank or by boat. Very beautiful place to camp. Very peaceful. Not much to do in the area but a great place to relax and get away. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Excellent small park, all sites were level with several pull through spots. Park was well kept, we were amazed at the amount of popups in the campground. Beautiful scenery and just a short drive to the Mississippi River/St. Francis River, as well as historic signs showing parts of the Louisiana purchase. If arriving at night on the long drive back to the park you could miss the entrance to the park, its right before the speed bump. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Tent Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a relatively new state park.... i believe that i read that it is the newest Arkansas state park. It is small and very nicely laid out on what appears to be a small island in the lake connected by a causeway. We really liked the park, and it was a great place for kids to explore and play with very little traffic. The only negative is that there is very little to do or places to eat in the nearby town. so if you like to set up and stay put, then this is the place for you.... if you like to set up and hit the road exploring the area... you may find yourself back at the campground after about an hour. I will say that the new visitors center is very nice with lots to look at for the kids. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is the newest state park in Arkansas and it is wonderful. Sites are all level, full hookup. Bathroom facilities consist of 4 lockable rooms, each with a toilet, sink, and shower. Very nice.

Sites are well spaced, and every one has a view of the small lake. There is a nearby swimming beach area, in addition to a boat launch ramp.

There is a nice hiking trail across the road from the campground, with signs identifying the various species of trees found in the forest, some of which are fairly old. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Motorhome.

This was our second trip up there (no phone service with verizon)! We had #4 first time and #14 last time! These are great lots & from Monday thru Wednesday we were the only ones there. We love going to the mouth of St Francis River on the Mississippi River and fishing! Caught nice size blue cats!! Love it up there! We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Travel Trailer.

While there take a drive on the old river road..that is the way the country used to be! Can drive down to Mississippi river and watch tugboats. We saw deer, turkeys, coons and other wildlife. Totally relax and unwind up there!!

I don't believe that I have ever rated a site as TEN, but this place deserves every star. The rate reflects a disabled veteran. Though it did not offer Wi-Fi my Iphone hotspot worked just fine as did the cell phone reception. Each campsite is well built and designed to survive the test of time. The sites are adjacent to the lake and it is totally quiet and peaceful with well paved access roads. We may alter our trip plans to go back through Arkansas and stay here or perhaps other state parks that are purported to be good. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Motorhome.

If this had sewer hookups and any signal at all, it would be a 10. Be prepared that even our Verizon wouldn't get enough of a signal to make a call. However, the location, though remote, was a great place. Each site is waterfront with a great view. Each campsite has a nice site, plus a tent area. The bath house is large and very clean and appeared new. We didn't use the beach area, but there was a swimming location. We launched our kayak and went around the lake. Get your supplies and gas before arriving IMHO. We would return if in the area and recommend it if you like to fish and don't need to use Verizon. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The nicest state park we have stayed at. We stayed on site one alongside the lake. Our site was very large, concrete with metal railing at the edge of the site on the water side. A very large metal picnic table was provided with a BBQ grill and a firepit. The site also provided ample parking space for a tow car and had an area for a tent. Staff communication was by phone and very friendly. Rangers were present and extremely friendly and knowledgable. All sites had good green space around them and shaded. We stayed only one night, but we will definitely return when we can stay longer. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Motorhome.

This is a small, new, state park in east central Arkansas. Very private, somewhat isolated, all sites on lake front, with reported good fishing and a swimming area. A wonderful place to just get away and relax. We have gone twice and plan on returning. In spite of the name, the park is not on the Mississippi river. We camped at Mississippi River State Park in a Motorhome.
