We stayed one night while passing through. The site was perfectly level despite being gravel and in a hilly area. Backing in was easy. The park was well maintained and clean. The lake was drained for maintenance and we were told it would remain so until after 2020. We were pleasantly surprised by the small, remote park's quality. - Tidy Boy

We adore this park! It's right in my husband home town, so is very convenient when we go home to visit family. But it's just so lovely at the park in general we look forward to going there every time we have to go home. - KimberlyCole

We love this park. Rate reflects state resident & ADA Discount. Our one and only complaint is that it's difficult to back into the disabled site because of the posts in the ground outside the bathroom/shower building. The rangers were all very friendly and helpful, yet not over intrusive. We took a nice class with one ranger on "What Trees Tell Us" and found it very informative. We can't wait to stay here again and would recommend it to anyone! - ColesCruising

I stayed for one night, just passing through the area. The staff was very friendly. I only hooked to power; I used the bathhouses for shower and bath. The park is infested with mosquitoes (this was late August 2017) and so was the bathhouse. The bathhouse need some cleaning and fumigation to get rid of the mosquitoes. The noise level is bad, they have a train that passes by and to me it seemed like it passed by every 20 min ALL night. - Canton Traveler

This has gotten to be a tired, old and run-down campground, not indicative of the many other KOA's we've stayed at. The concrete pads, like others have said are narrow and crumbling. Electrical boxes and other in-ground things prevent you from swinging wide into the site to get on the pad. For the third attempt we asked for and received a gravel site. - Mr. Camper
Jul 2017 - $50.00
We stayed here after picking up our new motor home. Kind of typical for a KOA as far as amenities go. The roads and sites were dirt and gravel and not very graded. Could have used a good dose of gravel in the sites as they tended to get large puddles in the rain. Many tall trees made satellite reception a bit tricky. There was some freeway noise, but not so much as to make sleep difficult. A decent over night stay, but not a destination park. - SargeW

Campground is very nice and the hosts were extremely helpful and courteous. The park appears to very busy, but yet there is enough room to spread out. There was plenty of ATT cell service and there was plenty of shopping areas within a reasonable distance. - DuranDDuran1

Love this park, as it is only 15 minutes from the only grandchild! We stayed here March 2016 for the first time, site 14, on lakeside. Stayed again in September 2016 for 7 days as last stop on a 4 site trip (site 26, top of hill). Stayed here again as 2nd stop on a 2 site trip (site 13 lakeside). We like the people, we like the ability to drop gray water. No sewer hookups but a easy dump station at camp exit. - Damon-Becky
Sep 2013 - $10.00
Rate reflects Senior discount. Most all previous reviews are accurate and reflect our feelings about this campground. We chose this place as convenient and inexpensive. It is also very peaceful, calm, and a wonderful place to stay for several days and explore the area. There are some downsides, which is why I gave it a 9. First, no Wi-Fi or cable. However, we did pick up local stations over the air, so we could keep up with news and weather. Second, the roads in the park are narrow and windy. Not a problem if you are comfortable with your rig, but it is slow going. Third, though they advertise "swimming" at the park, it is Not allowed currently due to too many geese swimming and using the beach. Finally, directions to the park are not clear. Do not take SR-1; this will force you to take the Craighead Forest Rd which is narrow, has tight turns and blind hills to get to the park. All this, the camp host was wonderful, the sites very level and wide, and the bathhouse clean and well maintained. As mentioned, there is free firewood at your campsite and the sites are far enough apart to be comfortable. There are woods all around and wonderful walking trails to enjoy the beauty of the natural surroundings. We would stay here again. - Too-wow
Oct 2017 - $25.00
Very easy to reserve, and they helped us to find our pull-through spot and get set up when we arrived. They gave us local area recommendations, and we enjoyed a nearby dinner. We were only there one night, passing through, and it was a great value. Quiet, clean, and easy to get in and out of. We were not there to camp long term, so we weren't concerned with facilities or amenities. We would stay there again for sure. - Ashley-RoadBloggers
Sep 2016 - $30.00
My family and I have stayed here a few times with our pets while visiting relatives. There is a few pull through spots in the front that we use. They're near the road but it's not to bad.
We call to let them know when we will be arriving and everything is always taken care of. We don't use amenities because we are running around with family.
It's convenient to shopping, churches, hospitals, gas, and many more things. If you are wanting ritzy then this might not be your place. If you are wanting convenience and nice people, it's exactly where you want to come.
If we are able, we will stay here when in this area.
Thank you Perkins RV for the kindness we have always received. - Cissis1

Got a site. Site was new but was it prepared properly. Buried my motor home to the bed. Cost $200.00 to get pulled out. Had to change sites in the rain. - Wade1946 _-
