Beautiful park! The drive up and down is a bit daunting. The park itself is fantastic. Take time to eat at the lodge and hike to the top. If you need diesel, get it before heading up. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

First time to Mt Magazine State Park. This is the highest point in Arkansas. There is a ~8 mile road that climbs the mountain. We have a 26' Motorhome and everything was fine - though you had to go slow around the hairpin turns. There are not very many campsites (maybe 20), but they all seem well spaced out. There are a lot of trees that make Satellite difficult, but we did get a good amount of OTA channels. ATT service was fine, Sprint was bad. There are a number of nice hiking trails. Once is a paved road right next to the campground that has tremedous views of the River Valley. It was very pretty when we were there are the leaves where changing in the Fall. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Motorhome.

The campground was perfect. Quiet, with lots of trees and a decent amount of space between sites. The campground was only about half full. I fell in love with this park and I bet you will too. Check in at the Visitor Center first, even if you have reservations. Mount Magazine State Park is a hikers paradise. If you enjoy hiking, be sure to find time to visit this park. Arkansas' highest point, Signal Mountain, 2753' is the highest point around. Including higher than the high point in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Nebraska, Florida and maybe one or two others. Only .4 mile hike from the trail head, this trail connects you to your choice of several other trails. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Other reviews cover the park very well, so this is more about a big rig in the park. The park is very spacious with plenty of room to maneuver a large motor home. Our RV is 43' and site #5 was long enough for a big rig with a 50a service. I could not back all the way into the site due to the extreme slope of the pad, with 2 boards under the front jacks I could not level the home. Had to pull up 7' and put 3 boards under the right front jack, and 2 under the left. This left my front right wheel 4" off the ground. The back right wheel was just touching the ground. The other 50a site seemed to be more level. The trip up the mountain from Paris was no problem but does have a lot of 30-35 mph curves. I was told this was the preferred route for big rigs. Up on the mountain is lots of hiking and biking trails. I'm a Jeep guy and found some really good easy dirt roads at the bottom of the mountain. I would recommend Spring lake road to the lake. There are other trails off the road that are also a lot of fun. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Motorhome.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds. It is always beautiful and clean. There is hiking and biking galore!! All 15 campsites have full hookups, grills, fire pits and tons of trees. It is always quiet and peaceful there. The best part is that it is 10-12 degrees cooler up there than down in town. I highly recommend it! We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in site #2 and I had to raise the driver's side 3" inches to get level side to side and had to lower the nose about 4 inches below hitch height to get front to back. As with most of the sites there, #2 is short. I have a 30' travel trailer with a crew cab pickup. When I backed in all the way, the nose of my truck was still in the road. The site is terraced and has a good size wooden picnic table and a generously sized tent pad. The whole site is covered with 1/2 inch chat. It rained quite a bit and the wooden picnic table stayed wet, so make sure you have something to put on the seats to keep your pants from getting wet after a rain. The site is very shady, as is the rest of the park. It is quiet most of the time, but nothing was obtrusive. My biggest complaint is the showers. The mildew smell is strong to me and there is mildew growing on the shower benches and walls. The floors, commodes and sinks were always clean though. It takes about 30 minutes to get off the mountain to get to Paris for supplies, so plan accordingly. All in all, we love this campground and would not hesitate to stay there again. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

We camp to get away and we like campsites that are large and quiet - which we found at Mt. Magazine. We did not try the restaurant at the lodge, but it's pretty much the only place to get a meal out. Be sure and catch the sunset on the west side of the mountain, and the sunrise at Sunrise rock. We'll be going back in the fall. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Take groceries with you. There are a couple of grocery stores in Paris, but it's a 30-minute drive. Lots of hiking trails.

Overall Rating:

A very pleasant campground. If you are not a confident driver the drive up the mountain from Havana might be challenging but we are a very large rig and had no issues other than a few low hanging branches. The campground is small and has been very quiet during our stay (school is in session). A mix of RVs and tent campers. We camped in the longest site and one of two with 50 amp. The electric is not the most robust but we have had no issues and the breeze really helps keep things cool. All of the sites have some shade and many are well spaced from their neighbor. The actual site is quite large with plenty of room for camp chairs and the barbeque, plus a tent pad. The interior roads are a little narrow but we had no issue with a 38 foot fifth wheel and a semi tractor. Our site is not level and looking around that may be a frequent complaint. Another potential negative is very spotty cell phone service although the MiFi is working well. We have Verizon. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a nice small campground with spacious sites. Lots of hiking trails including the trail to the highest point in Arkansas which is right across the street from the campground. The restrooms were clean with hot showers. Great views from the lodge and they have various ranger programs on the weekends. The food at the lodge is OK, breakfast was better than dinner. There is a gas station in Cove Creek at the bottom of the mountain which has very good hamburgers, it is only about 10 minutes away. We will stay here again if in the area. Overall Rating:

We enjoyed the park's views, backroad bicycling, birdlife, botanical richness, and breezes. Site was spacious, hookups good, although park rules were prohibiting use of onsite sewers, yet charging for sewer because we reserved a sewered site. (We had to directly contact the State of Arkansas park director in Little Rock for a refund, and the director was unaware the sewer system was not operational in the park, caused by a Barbie Doll in one of the lines.). Food at the lodge was really good. The swimming pool is off limits to campers, so a cool hose spray was the only way to cool off in the hot summer afternoons. That was disappointing. Make sure you have plenty of fuel before leaving Paris or Havana, it's a long way to walk to town. One concern was venomous snakes. We saw timber rattlesnakes, and copperheads were said to be common. We were careful on trails. Yellow jackets found every available water droplet from our AC unit, somewhat a nuisance. Overall, we thought the park was nice, but it caters to the lodge tenants, not the RVers, and that was a turn off for us. We would not return in the summer, but might consider a visit in cooler months. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Travel Trailer.

When we arrived at the park, the beautiful foliage was almost breathtaking. I chose a 50 amp site because I thought it was surely designed for a big motorhome and would be fairly level. Wrong! Our site was 70 feet long, and if we had pulled forward about 35 feet, we might have been a little more level, but we backed up to be near the connections. We had blocks under the jacks, the wheels, and our front wheels were still off the ground, which we do not like. When sites are being redone, as these have been fairly recently, how much trouble is it with a bulldozer in there to level the sites? The lodge was extremely nice with beautiful views and a good restaurant. They offered a computer room with fast wi-fi. The lodge had a beautiful indoor pool and fitness center, which only hotel guests are allowed to use, even though I offered to pay. We enjoyed our stay and the beautiful scenery. Not sure whether we'll be back or not. We camped at Mount Magazine State Park in a Motorhome.
