We stayed at the park 2 nights during the week. There were only a couple of other campers there. Very quiet. It is a very small park, but very well maintained. The only reason I did not rate this park a "10" was because I considered moving to one of the sites with sewer; but when I checked the sewer at 2 other sites, the lines were backed up. Water/sewer was visible in the pipe close to the surface. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the time to visit the office where there is some great info on the town of Davidsonville. Also, walk over to the site of the former town. Really interesting. Also some nice trails.

Loved our fall stay. Had business in Jonesboro, 50 minutes away, but felt find leaving camper for a day here. Nice in the fall, they say the mosquitos have been bad in summer. But such a nice park. Some sites have sewer, all seem fairly easy to accommodate our 42 foot fifth wheeler. Nice trails. Great history. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The campsites are newly renovated. Some have sewer, some don't. Great staff. Pads level to almost level. Beautiful park. Great trails. Historical walking tour through old Davidsonville town area. Towns are 6-10 miles away. Loved watching the wildlife play about in the adjacent woods. Will got back soon! We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Walk the trails. The visitor center has a nice museum area. Get a brochure on Davidsonville and walk the township site (no remaining buildings). We are from this area, so it hard to offer suggestions. We grew up seeing it all the time. If you like to fish, they have a great fishing lake and the adjacent Black River. There are paddleboats and fishing boats that can be rented.

As others have said, this park is beautiful. All concrete pads, nice picnic tables. We parked in a back-in where our door side completely faced the woods. We loved the privacy. The staff was friendly and helpful. The trails were very nice. I wish all state parks were this nice. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Countryside driving a plus: winding roads, farms and forest, plenty of water features. In Pocahontas visit the twin square and the nearby St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church. Absolutely beautiful. One of the tons featured stops. If the church is secured just visit the office and someone will let you in. Enjoy.

Very nice greeting from lady at office. I prepaid for one night and was told which one it was beforehand. There are maps on the website so you can see where you will be. There are more pull thru's now--probably around 5 with 50 amp--so I got one of those. Depending on where your utilities are located, it might require longer hoses. Sites are hard surface and level, with picnic tables and fire rings. My 32' plus toad was accommodated OK, but I think a bigger rig plus toad might be a bit snug. Just electric and water with dump station at entrance. Interesting historical site and information to walk around. Very clean restrooms (2 showers, 3 toilets), and I was only 1 of 3 people there that evening. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Historical sites, archeological digs and re-creation of county seat. Very pretty to look at and walk. I would guess there might be mosquitos in warmer weather, so I would prepare for that. So quiet.

My wife found this park and was interested in the Old Davidsonville town site location. Since it was on our way to a rally, I called to make reservations and felt that the person I talked to was excited that I wanted to stay here. This park is a pure gem! The park is well kept, sites very level, lots of trees (I don't care about satellite reception). Of the twenty four RV sites, the first night there were only three campers, last night only us. The park is in the northwest corner of Arkansas, so I guess its mostly locals that use it, but it works for us. There is a nice small lake, level hiking trails, river access, and of course, the site of Old Davidsonville. Garbage bins are handy, picnic tables and grills at each site, and a porch swing donated by a local Good Sam chapter in 1992 sitting in the middle of the camping loop. Downside - there is only 1 50A space (we have it), but power is clean and consistent. Water has good pressure. I would stay here again, if in the area. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We have never been to an Arkansas state park campground that we did not like! This one was no exception. The shower house was nicer and cleaner than many of the pricier, private campgrounds at which we have stayed. The campground road is smooth and paved, very suitable for walking or riding your bike. The campground staff was very friendly and helpful. This is not a "fancy" campground, but if you like camping and the state park experience, this is the place for you. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Another Arkansas gem at an unbeatable rate. Nice sites, level, quiet, and shady. Well cared for restroom facilities. Friendly staff at check-in. Lots of history in the area including the Old Davidsonville town site for which the park is named. I've yet been disappointed with an Arkansas State Park. We camped at Davidsonville Historic State Park in a Motorhome.
