Beautiful State Park. The visitor center is excellent with it fresh water fish tanks and a movie room with history of the area. The camping areas are well maintained. As one reviewer pointed out the even numbers for sites 2 thru 12 are best. Site 10 is tops in my open. Appears there is only 1 bath house for this group of sites. 1 shower and 2 toilets. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great park. A10-16 (even numbers) have amazing views and gorgeous sunsets. We stayed in A13 which had great views but no afternoon shade (the rest of 1-16 have good afternoon shade). Sites are level with good hookups. Very clean park. Visitor center is wonderful with lots to do and see. We rented kayaks, very reasonable. Nice swim beach, but it's quite a hike from the camp sites (we took the car). Nice playground. Would also stay in 34-40 (even numbers), water side with a decent view. Above 40 is right on top of the marina. Sites in that area are much closer together. We will definitely put this on our list of frequent places to go. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Second time here and it's one of our favorites. Swimming, biking, great staff. Beautiful sites on the water. Note: this is a dry county and the nearest liquor store is 26 miles one way. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in Loop A site 4. It was close to the lake, just steps down. Adequate space between campers. Not too much through traffic. Quiet at night. Gnats were getting annoying. Picnic table and fire pit were in what I consider the right places for this site. Pad was plenty long for 5th wheel and truck. Rangers drive through enough. Trash bins readily available. TV Antenna reception was not good, think we got 4 channels. State parks charge enough for their sites they could provide free wifi. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Stayed here for 3 nights to motorcycle the area. Still cannot believe that I had full hookups for this price. The campsites have beautiful views of the lake. There is a large picnic area, playground, and marina all in the campground area. Roads are paved and in reasonable condition. Sites are landscaped and terraced as needed. So your unit may be on a level slightly above or below your picnic table and fire ring. There are 6 unisex bathrooms that have a toilet, sink, and shower in a 10' by 10' room with deadbolt. Could have used a large bench seat, but overall perfect for young families. The park office has numerous aquariums and displays that are very well done and all ages could spend a half hour in them. There are Youtube videos that show sites to help you in your selection. This site held a 40' 5th wheel, crew cab pickup, and two touring motorcycles, and still had room to spare. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent location for up to 4 motorcycle rides that the park office suggests in a booklet. The Pig Tail National Scenic Byway or as they call the Ozark Run is in the top 5 motorcycle rides in the USA.

Overall Rating:

Lake Dardanelle (correct spelling) is a jewel among the many dams, lakes, hiking trails and campgrounds that dot the McClellan-Kerr Arkansas River Navigation System. Through Oklahoma and Arkansas, dams artificially deepen and widen the modest sized Arkansas River to build it into a commercially navigable body of water. The design enables river traffic to overcome an elevation difference of 420 feet between the Mississippi River and the Tulsa, OK Port of Catoosa. Along the section of the Arkansas River that carries the McClellan-Kerr channel, the river sustains commercial barge traffic and offers passenger and recreational use and is a series of reservoirs. Total length of the system is 445 miles. Lake Dardanelle exceeds 34,000 acres in size and is created from the Arkansas River by the Dardanelle Lock and Dam. Lake Dardanelle has over 300 miles of shoreline. The Ozark and Ouachita Mountains also offer great scenery and have mountain springs and recreation parks in abundance. The mountains of the Ozarks and Ouachitas are abundant in wildlife. The bald eagle often uses this area for wintering and can be found here from late fall to early spring. The campground at the State Park is right on the Lake and offers great views of Lake Dardanelle and the mountains to the west. We were there in March, so traffic was light. The park offers a Senior Discount for those over 62. Posted prices, before discount, ran from $22 to $30/night. The discount applies to residents and non-residents. Loop C might be a bit noisy in the summer as the marina is nearby, but in March it was very quiet and peaceful. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is a great park which we really enjoyed. The rate includes a senior discount which is kindly offered by Arkansas for both in and out of state residents. Roads to the park and inside the park are all very good and getting into our site was absolutely no problem. Our site was right on beautiful Lake Dardanelle with great views of the lake, nearby marina, and mountains across the lake for background. The site was spacious with plenty of parking area and had full hook ups that all worked well. A fire pit and picnic table were also on site. Our site was level, but not all sites appeared to be, especially on sites off the lake so pick carefully. While we did not use the restrooms they were very clean and modern. The park itself is lovely. It has a beautiful visitors center with an interesting small museum. The visitors center is also the campground check in and the staff was very friendly and full of knowledge of the park and the area. A long pier behind the visitors center is good for fishing. While it was quiet in November I would image that this is a very busy and popular park in the summer. I noticed dozens and dozens of boat trailer parking spaces near the boat ramp, but this activity should not bother campers which are away from the boat ramps. Overall this is a special park that we would camp at again. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby Russellville is a nice town with plenty of shopping. If you love good Italian food you won't be disappointed in La Villa Italian Restaurant a couple of miles from the park. The food was very reasonable and excellent. While the restaurant itself is not fancy and does not have beer, wine, or any liquor, the food was so good that it made up for these shortcomings.

Overall Rating:

The lake has two campgrounds, Dardanelle Area, on the south side, which is remotely located and has none of the major amenities of the north side. On the north side is the Russellville Area which has a Gift shop, Bass Fishing Pavilion, Interpretative Center, Showers, Full Hookups and some with Water and Electric only. We made reservations for site #57 which was a small pull through on a D loop which is tiny. We were in this site for 3 days and then asked if we could move to Site #44 C Loop, a Full Hookup site on the water which was just unbelievable. The showers are very new, clean and work well. Excellent in fact. Showers have a toilet in each shower room, sink and place to sit down and change, or park your stuff. Hot water was awesome and they were free. Free showers are nice if you have had to feed quarters before. Site #57 was tight between a two trees and the reservation system only allows a rig up to 24ft since it is short. We jockeyed the trailer in at a strange angle to buy us the most room, and still had space for the truck to park in front or behind it. We choose not to be straight in the slot, but pushed the nose a little closer to the road. The site required 3" of leveling on the table side, and we cranked the tongue down as far as possible, which made us level. Site #44 was much better, being one that had a fence around it, stairs to a picnic area below it, and was just 25ft off the water. #44 had full hookup, so we could take advantage of that and not having to dump. This site was perfectly level, and huge. Easy to get a very long rig in there and even leave the truck hooked up, or have space for a bus, and tow behind, or a third vehicle also. Site had a picnic table by the trailer, but the fire ring was down the steps between the water and the site. There is also a sidewalk/path between the site and water, but it was below the fence (2 ft tall) around the site so it still felt cozy and secure. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Travel Trailer.

An exceptional state park, with large well mowed grass fields with lots of shade trees, right by the Arkansaw River/lake, with a view of the mountains north and south , and in the distance you see the cooling tower of a nuclear plant. A very nice vistors center with several large fresh water fish aquariums, kayak and motor boat ramps, a beach, a playground, and lots of areas along the water for whatever. There are three camping areas, One on a peninsular best for large A RVs, and a smaller site RV area with EWS on both sides of a road one side on the water, the other on a slight slope and some of these not too level. The water side ones had built up sites with interesting wooden fence borders and multilevel patios. The last up hill cg area was without EW as far as I could see. The bathhouse for the 2d cg had seven unisex large rooms with sink, toilet and shower and was very clean and attractive. I think this is the nicest state park cg I have ever seen. The only negative was some unlevel sites needing lots of leveling. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

A first-class state park with lots of sites with lake views and full hookups. There is a nuclear power plant across the water and a nuclear evacuation route out of the park, if that is a concern. However, we pulled into the par this year and 10 minutes later, the entire park lost electricity for over 5 hours. Temps were around 100 degrees and most of the folks in fifth-wheels had no AC. We heard it was a transformer problem, nothing to do with the plant. The A and C loops have most of the lake views. Shopping about 10 minutes away in Russleville. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

Nature center really nice. Lots of info and interactivity. Docks, piers into lake nice walking areas. Great fishing right off bank of lake. Marina nearby. Within 20-25 miles two other great Arkansas State Parks: Mt Nebo (wonderful mountain hiking trails, with views of Lake Dardnelle below), and Mt Magazine (more mountain trails, great lodge). Worth a long enough stay to enjoy the area.

The camp host was very friendly. The site was reserved and had a tag with our name to ensure we had the correct site. We had site 11, which like most of the sites, was not a pull through. The back in site was a bit tough to get into as the road is quite narrow and the sites across from us were full, with extra vehicles parked in front of their trailers. Our site was waterfront, but next time we would prefer one of the even numbered sites which are lakefront, specifically site 16 which is a pull through. The sites are asphalt with a grill, fireplace, picnic table and gravel tent site. Mature shade trees and grass separate the sites. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This state park has 2 sections, Russellville Area and Dardanelle Area. The Russellville Area is the only one that offers 50 amp FHU, but we drove through the other park to see how it compared and it was really nice too, but 30 amp and no sewer. Since we wanted to stay for 1 week, we opted for the 50 amp FHU section. Our site was in Camp Area A, which is set up nicely for larger rigs and our site was right on the shore of Lake Dardanelle. This is a beautiful park, and most of the sites in Camp Area A are right on the water, with picture perfect sunsets. The sites are paved, reasonably spaced, with a nice gravel patio area, picnic table and a post for lanterns. Bathrooms were reasonably clean and the staff were very friendly. The visitor center has over 7,000 gallons of fresh water aquariums featuring fish found in the lake, a live bee hive, and other interesting exhibits. The park is a short drive to downtown Russellville for quick access to shopping, movie theater. and restaurants. We would definitely stay here again, but would suggest to anyone wishing to come to make a reservation. This is a very popular summer vacation destination and with good reason. We camped at Lake Dardanelle State Park in a Motorhome.

If you like to walk or bike, Bona Dea Trails and Sanctuary is just minutes from Lake Dardanelle State Park, with the entrance on Lakefront Drive. Some of the trails are paved and some are more rustic for hikers. Because the day we went it was hot, it was nice to ride our bikes under the canopies of the trees and we packed a lunch to eat in the picnic area.

Beautiful park on Lake Dardanelle! Only problem we had was getting into the space. They rented us one that they said would fit our 36' motor home--no way! So they found us another one and the maintenance man helped us maneuver into the space. We took a walk the next morning along the lake and around the grounds--just beautiful!
