This was my first visit to this campground after the complete renovation. All sites are now full hookup. All are back in, level, asphalt, and plenty long for the tow vehicle to be out of the street while unhooking. There is also a paved parking space adjoining each camper pad so you can really park 2 vehicles. The picnic tables are on a concrete pad and there is a pea gravel tent pad also. Most have easy access to Ramon Lake just behind your campsite and are suitable to tie up your fishing boat on the bank and walk up the hill to your campsite. The playground appears to have been renovated also. A large grassy field is also available for games. This is a small campground and is not close to any entertainment or restaurant. Perfect if you plan to fish or just let the kids, or grandkids, play while you relax. $37.57 per night with tax is a little high. The Arkansas State Parks are all priced from a single price list based on the type of site. So, a full hookup site on the water is the same price everywhere regardless of the amenities, or lack of amenities, at the park itself. I recommend this park if you are using a senior discount or just need to be in the south-central Arkansas area for a few days. All the sites on the water have some shade. The sites near the highway have shade all day and felt several degrees cooler but the road noise might bother some people. You can hear trucks on the highway for about 1/2 mile in each direction as they pass by the park on highway 63. Over the air TV and cell service (AT&T) is limited but does work. In summary, the park upgrade has brought the campsites to a level equal to anything else available in the state. - minidilbert

The sites and hookups are nothing special. There is plenty of dirt and pine straw except for the road and RV pads which are asphalt. The playground and walking trail were enjoyed by the grandchildren. This is a good place to turn the kids loose and let them play and ride their bikes. The visitor center and store is good. There are boats and bicycles for rent and a propane bottle exchange. - minidilbert

Quite small shady park!! Just the way we like it! There were lots of squirrels (ate out of husbands hand) and deer (saw at least 10 a day)! Park sites were paved and clean and all grounds were well maintained. The only reason I didn't give a 10 was because it is a long walk up and down hill to the water! We rented boat and did catch fish!! Will go back again!! - sjall242

Small campground in a small town. Good place to stay overnight. New owners are in the process's of buying the place. Modem hookup at the office. All gravel spots fairly level. Quiet with friendly staff. Two shower rooms very clean. - jjturtle2001

Hampton is a small town near El Dorado, Fordyce, and Camden, Arkansas. It is not off a major highway, but if you are traveling in that area, it's a nice little campground. While there, we drove to Camden and visited some Civil War sites and went deer hunting. We used it as a base, and were not expecting to "camp" there. (although you could if you wanted BUT,--no picnic tables or fire rings though. We camped there three nights over Thanksgiving, and there were several 5th wheels and Travel Trailers that were there for deer hunting. Deer hunting is a huge sport in this area, this time of year. We felt very comfortable there in our 40' motor home. The owners were very accommodating. We wish there were more of these campgrounds along the roads in America. There are no cabins, pools, rental bicycles etc, but it's a nice place to park, and the price is fair for what you get. They had a very nice laundry room. This is a "no frills" park, but if you get down that way, it's a good place for any type RV. - reddie
