This park seems overated. Yes, it's on the river, which is nice. But other than that, it's average at best. Gravel interior roads with a mix of gravel and concrete sites (I paid extra for concrete). It seemed like there were two "sections". One loop close to the river, and another loop a little further back (with unobstructed views across a field). Biggest problem I had was that there only TWO combination bath/showers (unisex) for the entire loop. That's inadequate. The location is off the beaten path in West Memphis. Between I-40 and the park, there are some questionable areas (Two WMPD officers hanging out near the entrance). The park is far enough down the road that it's sort of isolated and probably fairly safe, despite the police presence. Unless your thing is being adjacent to the river, it's easy to find a nicer park for less money. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

I look forward to coming back here and staying a few days sometime when the weather is good. It was too cold to stay this time, down in the low 20s. The campground is right on the river, very spacious, lots of room to walk. Its off the beaten track so be sure to study those directions on their website and then its easy to find. This looks like a work in progress so quite bare bones now but there is an area of concrete pad sites. When they finish this project, it will be incredible, in my opinion. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

We really liked staying here. Unique park right on the banks of the Mississippi. Most sites with views and plenty of benches for sitting on the bank. Bathhouse a little walk away (we were in the south loop) -we did not use it. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Great treehouse (chairs in it ) right on the river bank. Be sure to climb up and check out the view! Note: this is not the treehouse marked on the camp map.

The park is nice and the staff very helpful. Believe me when I say this though......get supplies and groceries BEFORE you get to the park. It is located in a terrible neighborhood! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Very interesting RV Park if you are able to get a site along the Mississippi River. Sites were level. Grassed area along the river was an enjoyable gathering place for campers to watch barge traffic and visit. Very active part of the river. We had a full hook-up site. We would stay here again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Our second stay here and we enjoyed it very much. Spacious sites with grass and gravel, some with concrete pads. Huge open grassy area to walk dogs or fly a kite. Enjoy watching the river, barges and boats. The road coming in is a little rough - just slow down and it's fine. FREE laundry and the machines are new and clean. We didn't use the restrooms. Wifi wasn't very good but Verizon hotspot was LTE and strong. We will return if in the area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Try Williams Bar-B-Q nearby at Broadway and 14th for a great pulled pork sandwich with cole slaw. It was so good we went back and got another one before we left! Civil Rights museum is excellent.

Stayed here to visit Memphis. About 15 min to Beale St. Very clean large park on the Mississippi River. We had a riverfront site that gave us a wonderful view of the river. Enjoyed watching the barges slowly move up and down the river. Large, level sites. We had concrete pad but many are crushed gravel. Shaded spots limited but that was a bonus this time of year. Was very dusty due to lack of rain but certainly not fault of campground. Will definitely return. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

This was an overnight stay for us on our way West. The CG is a few miles from the highway - not too far. Use the directions provided by the CG, not your gps. Our site was a pull through that was spacious and level with a view of the Mississippi River. There is plenty of space to walk along the river bank, sit on a bench, and watch the commercial traffic go buy. It's a great spot to spend a few days and visit Memphis if you are so inclined. West Memphis - not so much.
We would certainly stay here again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Big rig friendly with level sites and easy access from I40 or I55. Beautiful view of Mississippi River from many sites. No dog park but large field to walk dog. Campground had the best laundry of any campground we have visited and they were free. Showers were large with hot water and pressure. The roads were crushed rock making our Rv and truck very dirty. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Walmart was 3 miles away but not much else near campground. Memphis is a great place to visit 8 miles away and Beale Street is very interesting. Bass Pro Shop at the Pyramid and Mud Island River Park is very interesting and closer than Beale Street.

We were right on the river and our section was free of trees, so we had good satellite TV access (this would not be true of riverside sites in the other section). Utilities worked well, although we did get one brief electrical alarm. WIFI worked well most of the time with our signal amplifier. There were several times, though, when bandwidth hogs prevented access. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

We were looking for a campground that would be convenient to downtown Memphis TN while we attended a 4-day event. We're self contained and don't use the facilities except for an occasional shower. We stayed here for a week in October.

This campground was great. It's a huge field on the Mississippi River with 3 sections to the campground - 'on the river south' sites were mostly full sun, 'on the river north' had partial shade and 'in the trees' were mostly shady, less so nearest the river. Most sites were lined up like diagonal parking spots yet were relatively large providing some privacy and views of the river. There was free laundry. The shower was excellent. The free wifi was not usable. There was good ATT and Verizon coverage. The campground staff were friendly and helpful. The park was clean and well maintained. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

If you plan to visit Memphis, there were several helpful brochures in the campground office. We used Uber ($12) for the 15-minute commute to Memphis.

Our first time here - have tried to visit previously but flooding along the Mississippi caused us to change our plans.
This park is right on the bank and the front rows offer excellent views of the river traffic. It was a little scary following the road over the levee to the campground - it was in very rough condition. But once in the campground the roads were fine and very easy to navigate.
We would definitely come here again! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Price reflects back row in the woods farthest away from the river. Easy access from I40 and I55. Neat to see tug boats and barges go up and down the river. No cable but decent OTA. Okay Verizon signal. Some sites have concrete pads while others are gravel. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

The drive into the park is through an industrial part of West Memphis, but once you drive over the levee and into the wooded park, it is another world. You are right on the bank of the Mississippi. There are 3 parking areas; two along the river out in the open and a third set back in the trees. We stayed in the trees for the cool shade with full hookups and it was a little quieter since the tug boats on the river can be a bit noisy. Our only complaint was that most of the interior roads are gravel and can get a bit dusty. We ended up staying 3 days and visiting Beale Street and Graceland. We would definitely go back when in the Memphis area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Take a quick 10 minute drive to downtown Memphis and check out Beale Street, then a two block walk to the Gibson guitar factory (make a reservation for the hourly tour since they fill up fast). Parking behind the Gibson factory is only $5 all day - half the price of surrounding lots. And don't miss the Peabody Hotel ducks - a few blocks the other side of Beale Street. The Bass Pro Shops Pyramid along the river is also an interesting walk through but is a drive from Beale Street.

The only thing good to say about this campground is, "It has a great view of the Mississippi River." When we were escorted to our campsite, there was a small lake on the port side of the campsite. The shore water connection was leaking. The escort said someone would come fix it. They never arrived in our two day stay. The sewer system is poorly vented. A strong sewer smell permeated the downwind side of the campground. Yukkkk! The grass areas were so full of dog crap that you had to watch were you are walking. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.
