Wonderful staff and very accommodating to us. We had RV trouble and needed to make a last minute request to push our reservation out 1 day. Lucky that they had something available. We arrived, checked in, and the RV wouldn't start. Starter died right there in front of office. One of the staff stepped in to help us replace starter. Couldn't believe how quickly they were to jump in and help.
Site was nice and level and all utilities worked great. Good wifi signal.
Wonderful view of river and barge traffic. Good grassy area for dog walking. Everything is well maintained. They have both paved and gravel sites. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Once we drove over the levy - OMG. Majestic trees mingle over the road to the park. A a quaint "fishing shanty" looking wooden building and surrounding area with a sign marking the high water mark of 2011 reminds us we are on the mighty Mississippi.

We are led to our site which is separated from the beautiful river by a strip of manicured grass. The next hours spent decompressing and watching the boats and we wish we could stay here forever. Fantastic. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

What can I say about an RV park that has a fantastic view, good wifi, FREE laundry, trash pickup at my site 3x a day, and great over the air TV reception. (Honey I'm home!!) Two hookups: a first for us! We have two black tanks so that is super nice!

The office staff is very efficient, we were escorted to our site and the overall feeling is that these people are on top of things. Watching the river traffic is just plain fun. There is a good view from all sites, so do not fret.

The drive through West Memphis is a bit depressing, I would try to get fully stocked before arriving here. That is the only reason this place doesn't get a 10. We plan to head into Memphis for the day and hit Bass Pro and surrounds.

After a string of dud parks this one was a refreshing change of pace. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Very spacious, peaceful campground. Long road into the site. (A bit scary at night for 1st time visitors: very dark.) Once in the park, it is very spacious. We had a gravel site, but there were cement pads intermittent in the park. Pretty level.

The River is right there! We walked over in the morning and it was very peaceful. If it weren't for the A/C on the motorhomes right there, there would be no noise. Wildlife, birds, peaceful atmosphere. 3 sets of sites. We were in the set with very mature trees, well maintained, with river views. There was a loop out on the riverbank, but they did not have trees. Restrooms extremely clean and very nice. Great shower with nice water pressure. Only 2 of them in a loop, so we had to wait just a minute, but worth it. A/C in the restrooms. No amenities on site (no pool, etc.). Tons of mosquitos in the evening/night, which you would expect on the river. Coming from Disney, we forgot about them! Would recommend this RV park for the Memphis area. Very close to the city. There are not many to choose from, and we were very happy we found this one. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We only stayed overnight & were impressed by the friendliness and efficiency of the staff. Our receipt and papers were already filled out & waiting for me when we arrived and were escorted to our site. Second row but a good view of the river and barges. Only problem we had was electrical. I wanted a hot shower but with the 2 ACs on, the fridge, & the TV, the breaker switch popped when I turned on the hot water heater. The plug-in voltage reader was just barely in the green. N0 problems with tree limbs or bad roads as has been previously mentioned. Not an easy off and on but a good place to overnight if needed. Definitely would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

What a nice park! EXCELLENT and efficient service on check in. The weather was not good, so we couldn't explore like we wanted to, but we enjoyed the views of the river from the second row. Next time we stay here we will ask for a river site.

This place is huge and one thing I wish they had was a dog run, because they certainly have room for one. I really like when we get an escort to our site so we don't have to wander around looking for it. Water, sewer, electric all worked just fine. No electrical problems as someone else mentioned. Everything in our coach worked great.

Friendly guy who escorted us and picked up garbage at site. Getting in and out was fine and not too far from the Interstate. We will make this a definite stop anytime we head this way. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed here because of close proximity to Memphis without being in the city. Also liked the fact that the campground was actually on the Mississippi River. That being said, the staff here is all business, no warm and fuzzies here. Not exactly rude, just efficient and dismissive. We only stayed two nights and spent the majority of our time in Memphis.
Campground is close to I-40 and just over the river from Memphis so location was a plus. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Started early with breakfast at The Peabody with the absolute best French Press coffee and cheese grits! Then promptly at 11 am, the ducks walk the red carpet to the fountain in the middle of the lobby. The Peabody is a grand old hotel steeped in tradition, and the ducks are an enjoyable part of that history.
Also visited Sun Studios, Graceland and Beale Street. All were enjoyable and worth seeing, but I must say our Peabody experience is what we will remember about Memphis.

The location is great with a beautiful view of the Mississippi River. The site was nice and level and the utilities were good. The wifi was very weak in our location. The gravel road in and out were very dusty. But overall this is a nice park. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Kind of scary on the road in, but campground is nice and has a great view along Mississippi River. Stay away from wooded sites, choose river front. Sites are spacious and offer some shade. This was our first stop on what is planned to be a 6-12 month full time adventure with the family. The sites were partly shaded and right on the river. It would have been nice to just sit by the water and watch the barges go by. I got pulled away to Memphis for an unexpected job interview, but my family enjoyed their time here.

The only reason for 8 stars for us, is there are no amenities for children. That might make it a 12/10 for some people, but if we had stayed longer we would have needed to go somewhere to let them burn off energy.

The park was very convenient for going into Memphis, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it for a Memphis vacation. Another nice touch was the free laundry, although we hadn't accumulated any by the time we were here. That would be a nice benefit to have for a longer stay. There were dual sewer connections I didn't see until after I dumped my mid-tank and moved to the rear one. That's a nice touch.

Overall we enjoyed it and would come back again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

I give this campground the highest rating for what you get for your money. They have spacious sites, all utilities that work great but it's the view! Location, etc! You're right on the Mighty Mississippi River where barges run day and night delivering goods up or down the river. If you are in a fifth wheel or trailer you are parked with the windows toward the river and a motor home is windshield to the river view. If your not into the view, there are sites up in the trees where shade is abundant. We have been here before and would go back in a minute! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We love this RV park! Right on the Mississippi river, seeing the barges come and go, nice level sites, free laundry - what more can you ask for? This is our second stay, two years apart and I am so happy it was as serene as I remembered. We had to change our plans so got a second row site instead of a front row site facing the Mississippi River, however we could still see the river even with RVs in front of us. The people who run the place are very nice and really do a good job of keeping it clean. We were there over July 4th and were a bit concerned over the fireworks guests were setting off in the park however for the most part the quiet time was observed. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

This is a clean, well maintained park. The staff is friendly. The sites are level and the park is designed for maximum visibility to the Mississippi River. They escort you to your site. They pick up trash several times a day. And they have been consistent over the many years we have been staying here. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Diesel fuel at the exit for this park runs about $.30/gal higher at the truck stops than any other source along the I-55 or I-40 service road. Try to fuel up at one of those if possible.
