Great view. Long long walk to bathrooms. 2 rooms only. Had toilet shower and sink. Good hanging area. Free laundry bring own soap but is upstairs of bathroom. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Near Memphis but out of the way quiet.

Here are my notes about this park, in no particular order:

1.) Location, location, location. If you're going to downtown Memphis, this is the place to stay! It is sufficiently removed from the city of West Memphis that there are no security issues. The owners live on site and keep a very good presence, plus are quite friendly.

2.) They need to pave the roads. It looks like they're doing it in stages, which is understandable. If they complete the paving, it will be very nice. There is a wooded area at the entrance that also needs a couple of street lights.

3.) They do have a nice lighted sign when you turn off South Loop Drive, so you can find your way onto their entrance road.

4.) I'd really give this park an 8, but I add 1 for the view. There aren't many places you can sit 20' from the MS River and watch the barges. It was very educational for our daughter as we discussed how the barges work while sitting there on the park bench. (They have benches lined up by the river so you can sit and enjoy the view.) It was also nice at night, as you could see the Memphis bridges and downtown all lit up.

5.) They are re-furbishing the tree house, which is a must see. We look forward to coming back in a few months to see it completed. It looks like a great place to hide out and read a book - at least our 10 year old thought so.

6.) This is a very popular park and appeared to be sold out, even during the weekdays when we visited.

7.) You don't have to disconnect your toad. It's easy to navigate and pull right into your site, toad and all.

8.) We're already planning our next trip back. It's an awesome way to explore Memphis without staying in the city. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be sure to specify what kind of site you want. They have many different sites at different price ranges. We opted for the level concrete site near the river. They sell out nightly. So make a reservation.

We like coming to this park greatview we have been here 6 time in three years. But what I don't like the wifi never works if you pay this much to me it should work and work good. Free laundry is great but a lot of them aren't working. People let their dogs roam off their leashes so you can have someones dog run up and start barking at you in your campsite.

I do like this park. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Love the location and watching the barges go by. Very friendly staff! We had electric problems and they happily helped us after hours. The laundry being free is an added bonus. The Internet did not work and the owner needs to upgrade their system. Our overall trip was wonderful. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Lovely place to stop and unwind after a day of driving. Concrete, level sites along the riverbank. They have benches so that you can relax and watch the river traffic. Lots of open grassy areas to walk the dogs. We had very hot temperatures so next time I would ask to be placed in the riverfront area with the trees. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is one of the best RV Parks I have reviewed. There is a range of sites available from back-in with shade to riverside pull-through on concrete pad. My site was on a concrete pad within 50 feet of the river bank and 80 feet to the water. The interior roads are mostly gravel so there will be a little dust. Office personnel were great. They led me to my site, picked up trash at the site several times a day, and loaned me a ladder to get on top of the camper to do a roof patch. Prices for cokes and ice in the office were very reasonable. I stayed 4 days and will probably return to this park just to sit and watch the barges go up and down the river. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Go see the new Bass Pro store in the Pyramid across the river in Memphis. Mud Island was also educational and fun.

Getting to this park takes you down a sketchy neighborhood that might make you think about turning around, but I'm glad we kept going. After getting to the entrance and driving through a tree lined road you will find the park right on the river. It's wonderful to watch all the boat traffic. There are 3 sections..motorhome, 5th wheel and monthly. The 5th wheel side is situated so you can watch the river from your back window and the motorhome side is the opposite. We stayed 2 rows back and it was still great. Lots of benches by the water and a huge, huge grassy area for pets. Bathroom was clean and they have free laundry. I would stay here again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We have stayed here before. We get the sites right by the river so we can watch the barges so by. It is an excellent campground for what we do. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We made a reservation several months ago for a gravel site for $28. When we checked in we were given a paved site on the river for $40. It was one of only 3 sites left in the park. It wasn't until later after we were set up that we remembered that we should only have been charged $28. We enjoyed the view of the river so we did not complain. The site was level but when it rained the site flooded. The internal roads are mostly gravel, in good shape and easy to navigate. The riverfront has convenient benches to sit and enjoy the river traffic. The campground was easy to find following the directions on their website. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

As was mentioned the area you drive through (briefly) is not so hot but this campground is a gem. We had a paved site right on the river. The site was level, the water, electric and sewer good, and the view fantastic. No cable but there are many TV stations. The wifi can be so-so at times, but given the location on the river, it can't be beat! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

There is a super Walmart within 5 miles

Once again I am not as impressed with this park as many reviewers. There are FHU sites in all 3 sections of the park. Those in the trees seem to be occupied by extended stay customers. About half the sites in the open sections near the river give good views of the river. After decades of seeing river barges from this park and two other RV parks in Caruthersville, MO and Vidalia, LA, I don't see the fascination others rave about. Then there are the continuing negative remarks about the area you have to drive through to get to the park. Please tell me why it is "sketchy". The sites are a decent size and, except for the section where the sites are in the trees, most sites appear to be satellite friendly. Although you can get a good number of over the air stations from Memphis, there is no cable TV. Their 802.11 system worked OK for us. I see nothing recreational for kids in the park. The location and free laundry are the only things that make this park above ordinary. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

What a great location on the mississippi river!!! We were here for 7 nights. Great folks in the registration, very helpful and great to chat with, my hats off to the staff. Bath/showers while clean could use some interior cosmetic updating and some chairs. Sites were good size and plenty of fire wood from scrap wood washed on shore. Little windy while we were there but still very nice. Memphis attractions were overall ok . Graceland is worth the visit. This location is great for visiting the overall Memphis area and plenty of stores near by.

Oh and the laundry and dryers are FREE and very clean !!!!! Thank you Tom Sawyer. Wifi is good did have some intial problems but the staff handled it right away. Water is fine and local channels were ok. Still overall would stay here again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The only way to be closer to the Mississippi would require a boat! We had a level sight with concrete pad in the first row along the river and enjoyed watching the river traffic from our site. There was a nice grassy area along the river with several benches and "dog stations" provided. There are no trees along the first couple of rows, but the sites at the rear of the park had lots of trees. The only issue we encountered was that the water hook-up leaked badly. We reported it to the staff, but said we would just leave it off during our stay since we had plenty of water in our tank. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Very convenient to downtown Memphis via I-40. Only about 20 minutes to Graceland via I-55.

Stayed here before and about the same. Good electric and water. Nice concrete pads that are level. Great view of the Mississippi River. Nice and quite. Gravel roads getting to your site. Easy in and out. Just a nice place to stay the night. Will stay again if passing thru. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.
