LOVE this park, the ONLY negative is the dusty roads... Most of the sites are level, the front row is THE place to be ! Just wanted to upload some pics from our stay when we did all the touristy things... We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Good park for visiting Menphis. Right on the river. Easy in and out for big rigs. You have to go through a bit of a rundown industrial neighborhood to get there. But 20 minutes to the tourist sites and a little less for some. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

The management really cares about their visitors. I asked how they fared with the flooding this spring. He said they were under 9 feet of water for the month of March. By the time we arrived everything was cleaned up except for the "silt". We were led to our site, and enjoyed the environs and the view of the river. Utilities worked properly. Glad to stay again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This park has some of the best scenery as it sits right on the Mississippi River and you can sit on one of the many benches and watch the barges chug up and down the river all day and night. Very unique. The people that run the place are incredibly nice and while there is no enclosed dog run there is a ton of open space to walk the dogs. The sites are nice and wide with plenty of elbow room. The park DOES flood on occasion and there is a table on their website that you can monitor to see if it will affect your stay - the high water is normally in the spring months. With all of that said, I would give the park an even better rating, but our site (unlucky) #13 REALLY collected the rain, and after a downpour, ours stayed muddy with deep ruts of water much longer than any other site - or so it seemed. And while I normally like an end site (it IS nice and roomy) - this site was SO incredibly noisy with so much traffic coming and going that it was a bit hard to enjoy. And I'm NOT a picky person. BUT, we loved this park and will definitely stay again - just not in #13. And I did not use the laundry facilities but our neighbors told us they were FREE - how nice is that! The park is on the west side of Memphis so visiting Beale Street, National Civil Rights Museum, Graceland, etc. are all very convenient. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

It's not just another RV park, but one that is in a grand location on the banks of the Mississippi River. The staff works very hard to keep the grounds in good shape; if you stay for any time you will see them at work. The utilities work perfectly, there are big huge pads to park on, the laundry is FREE, the staff is friendly, and there are lots of benches to sit and watch traffic go by on the Mississippi. What a pleasure. Memphis, one of the great cities in the US, is a short drive across the river. The sum of the parts plus the Mississippi equals a great experience. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We love this park! It's right on the bank of the Mississippi River with amazing scenes of passing riverboats and tugs pushing 20 and more barges up and down the river literally right in front of you. The Memphis skyline is also in view. There is a huge grassy field in the middle of the park that is perfect for the dogs and ample other areas to walk them. The staff is helpful and friendly. We didn't try the wifi - used our hotspot. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Absolutely fantastic, peaceful place to stay. Originally only intended on an overnight stay, but ended up staying two nights, because it was so peaceful. Campground staff were terrific. The only negative was the lousy internet service. We have come to expect less than desirable service in RV parks, but this one would not even stay connected. Otherwise it is a fantastic place to stay. Even had free washers and dryers! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Tom Sawyer in a 42' fifth wheel. What a cool park. It is right on the banks of the Mississippi and we have spent hours watching the water and the barges go by. In addition is has a huge green space for strolling and dog walking and many benches on the edge of the river to enjoy the scenery. Tree shaded sites are a bit farther from the river, but still have a view. Sites on the SW riverfront have afternoon shade. Negotiating interior roads was simple. Laundry and the two bathrooms are extremely far from most sites. They were clean and roomy. Some sites are concrete and some gravel. WiFi is very slow and has been off line for most of a day. Water pressure is low, other utilities are fine. We would go out of our way to return here and would do so even if it were not close to a major city or tourist attraction. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

West Memphis is not a happening place. The Kroger is pretty good. Travel into Memphis is easy, and you can also take Uber or Lyft if you plan on drinking. The Tourist Bureau across from Bass Pro Shop allowed our friends to leave their large truck in the RV parking area and take public transportation to see the city.

One of our all time favorites in the Memphis area. We travel in a Motor Home with a Tow Car. Park is clean and well kept up. Employees are friendly and accommodating. It is right down on the Mississippi River where you can watch the barges and river boats going up and down the river. Keep Safety in mind during Rain Season during severe flooding this park can be underwater. The park owners live on site are very aware of weather safety. Off of I-55 take the Martin Luther King Exit go South to the Park. Signs are clearly marked where to turn by the Levee. Some GPS Systems have you drive through residential areas. There is a Walmart, Cracker Barrel, and Flying J Truck Stop nearby. Last year we had a flat on our Tow Car and Firestone is close by. Had us back on the road is less than 15 minutes.

We came here to be by the river and see tugs and barges and we sure did! The river was near flood stage and was fast and very busy. Our concrete site on the rivers edge was level and perfect size so the mat and picnic table were just out the door. It was a bit "soft" - not really muddy - but the park had just opened a couple weeks earlier after flooding. The website is a great help to let you know if the park is likely going to close due to high water. Mostly people are staying a night or two on their way back north from their winter campgrounds. Little in the way of amenities. You come here to watch river traffic! Other appreciated perks: little stations to drop your doggie-doo bags and even some bags provided and free laundry with modern large machines were very much appreciated. Everything to see in Memphis is all within a few blocks of the river so had no trouble getting around and hitting a few attractions. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

One of my favorite campgrounds EVER! It is mesmerizing sitting on the banks of the mighty Mississippi (5 feet below flood stage) and watching the river roar by and the tugs and barges challenging the waters - if you like that kind of thing. Look at it from google earth and you will see the attraction. The people are super nice and helpful. there aren't all sorts of amenities, if that's what you are looking for and don't count on WiFi (your cell service should be fine). BUT YOU CAN'T BEAT THE LOCATION! We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in the row of sites that were closest to the Mississippi river. We were probably 30 feet from the water and the view was spectacular. As their website states they are prone to flooding if the river overflows. They had just reopened a few days earlier from a flood. Be sure to contact them a day before just to make sure everything is OK. The sites are long and flat and made of concrete. We would definitely stay here again. The office lady was very friendly and courteous. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

This is a great location. It's only 10 min to downtown Memphis. Strong 50 amp FHU. Very cool view of the Mississippi. It's really fun to watch tug boats go by. Free laundry. There are 2 laundries. The 1 by the river has 2 washers and 2 dryers. The larger one closer to the office 5 or 6 washers and 5 or 6 dryers. They're large front loading, very clean and you can't beat free. The sites themselves are a mixture of some gravel and some on a pad. Spring for the pad river view sites as this place gets extremely wet during any kind of rain and has really bad drainage so it's worth it to have the pad. The nearby neighborhood is not nice at all. There's lots of run down trailers and when you're driving up to the park through the sketchy neighborhood you're going to question your judgement for being here but once you get to the park it's nice. Check out Beale St in Memphis for some fun shops and restaurants. Graceland is also fun. Cell was great. ATT and Verizon were both over 20d/l without a booster. Didn't try T mobile. The park free wifi was good enough for browsing. No cable but OTA worked fine. Walking for dogs was fine except like I said before, any rain and this place is a swamp. There is a walking trail around the campground which we didn't use due to the mud/swamp situation. Staff was responsive and friendly. Bathrooms were clean and single rooms with showers. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Only stayed for one night. If you are passing through for the night or you are looking for a small getaway, THIS IS YOUR PARK. Park is easy to find right off the highway, has a lighted sign at night, and the roads in the park are wide & clear. Most sites are easy to get into. We stayed at one of their cheaper sites, but the view was still superb. Right on the Mississippi River. Lots of room to walk around and beautiful scenary. The bath-house was very small, and there was a hefty walk to both bath houses. Only 4 bathrooms for over 100 sites. It was cold when we arrived, and the heating in one of the bathrooms didn't work. The showers were also out of hot water. While we didn't use our sewer connection, it appeared that the sewer line was filling up as I saw liquid about 5-10 feet below ground, and pouring a little waste down there made it seem that it was close to overflowing. The individual on the phone was also difficult to understand. I wouldn't stay here for any extended period of time, but it seems like a great place to get away for a few days. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stopped at the Tom Sawyer RV Park for one night and the park owners were very nice and accommodating. The sites were concrete and level, the gravel area outside of the parking pad was a little on the muddy side. Our site was right on the Mississippi River and the views were great. The trails were plentiful for walking the dogs although they were quite wet. Water, sewer, and 50 amp hook ups were very nice. WiFi was spotty but did work. No cable is provided but there is excellent antenna coverage. Bathhouses included a single stall of men and separate for women, they were clean and heated.
