Tom Sawyer’s is on the Arkansas side of the Mississippi River, across from Memphis. It’s on the river side of the levee, and apparently floods with regularity. The current Google satellite view of the park shows it completely flooded, and our next door neighbor had had a reservation canceled earlier in the year. It’s about a 15-20 minute drive to the tourist attractions in Memphis. Your GPS will send you the wrong way at one point. If you’re looking up instead of at your GPS when the GPS tells you to make an obviously wrong right turn, you’ll notice a large sign for the park on the left. The park is kind of funky, probably as a result of the regular flooding. Water pipes stick out of the ground at funny angles, and the buildings are all on stilts. Some sites have concrete pads, and some are gravel. Site spacing is fairly close, but nearly every site has a good view of the river. All are mostly level, but may have some issues when it rains. Our site completely flooded, and we had to pull our fresh water hose and power cord out of a lake that formed in the pit our sewer connection was in. We ended up playing safe and sanitizing our fresh water system at the next campground. The campground WiFi barely works, but cell service is fine. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Graceland is a 25 minute drive, and has plenty of RV parking. The National Museum of Civil Rights is in downtown Memphis, about 15 minutes away. We were able to park our coach on the street right next to the museum.

Must stay here if you are passing thru. Many sites that are right on the Mississippi River. Watch the river traffic go by from your RV or get out and walk along the large grassy riverfront area. Friendly helpful staff. A little out of the way but worth it. spend 2 to 4 days checking out Memphis if you can spare the time. Very fun and interesting town. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Location, location, location. This great Good Sam Park sits right next to the Mississippi River where it was fun to walk the banks and watch the river traffic. Close to Memphis, but away from the city bustle, we would love to stay for a week, but only had a couple of nights this trip. The campground was full every night so a call ahead is essential particularly if you want to be assigned one of the front row, paved sites. We had a lovely long wide level 2nd row pull through to which we were escorted after a seamless checkin. Water, sewer, and electric all worked great. No cable tv but plenty of OTA. No wifi that we saw. Verizon weak but ok. Bumpy access and interior roads. We will be back to this gem behind the levee (over which we joyously drove in our Chevy! tee hee) We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We would definitely recommend this campground when you're in the area. It’s off the highway enough to feel you are camping out of the city, but close enough to get back on the interstate within minutes.

The campground’s main attraction is the river traffic on the Mississippi River. Multiple benches are set up along the riverbank for you to relax and watch life float by. For those that don’t typically like to hear Diesel engines, the tugs pushing the barge traffic can be heard lumbering by. We thought that the rumbling of the boats were quaint and enjoyed the experience.

The bathroom facilities were nice, they offer free use of their laundry and dryer facilities and the sites are spacious. The nightly rate is a bit high for the “amenities” but you are paying for the location by the river. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Stayed one night at Tom Sawyer's while visiting Memphis. Park was a short drive from the city and we found its location fairly convenient. Our site had a beautiful view of the river, but it's important to note when booking if you want a view out the front or out the back. One riverfront section faces the river, while the other riverfront section backs up to the river. Thankfully, our camper has windows on both end so our view was great either way. Would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

This camp is fairly bland except for the fact that it is right on the Mississippi River and was close to Memphis, TN. The sites are close, but even. The staff were pleasant and were willing to help us. It was nice that they picked up the trash from your site. The roads between the sites need some maintenance to smooth out the ruts. A very neat experience watching the boats and barges go up and down the Mississippi. Great value for an unusual park. We had a pull through in the new south section with a concrete pad and new services. The only cons are wi-fi that was pretty much useless and the mud. It had rained the day before we arrived and the road to the park was very muddy, the access to our site was worse. All clay and we were almost bogged down getting to site 102. The old area of the park was better but still muddy days after the rain. There are mud clods all over my rv and toad. I would come again but not if rain is anywhere before or during my stay. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

A real nice and great location of an RV park that is right on the Mississippi River. Our site didn't have as much grass or any concrete like a lot of others, as we made reservations late and there RV park was sold out due to rallys. Anyway, it was a great overnight spot with easy access from the interstate. It would also be a good spot to visit Memphis, however we prefer to use another park that is closer to downtown. No cable or Wifi. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice setting overlooking the Mississippi River. Easy access from I40&I55. It is a few miles but easy to do. Paved roads and mix of paved and gravel sites. Glad we had reservations as park had no vacancies. Sites next to river definitely best spots. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

The price listed was a discounted price when using our Good Sam membership. This was an adequate stop for a week while we toured the many sights in Memphis, TN. The entrance to the park is down a narrow road which is some dirt/gravel and some paving. The coach got pretty dusty upon our arrival. But it rained, on and off, for three days and washed most of the dirt off. With all the rain, we found the park doesn't drain well, and most sites had some pretty deep puddles around their steps. There isn't a specific area to walk the dogs, and with all the rain, we found ourselves walking in ankle deep water when taking the dogs out. There are currently three separate areas for rigs. In those areas some sites have concrete pads, but most don't. The sites near us (near the wooded area) were pretty level, but with the rain, had some large puddles when we left. At our site, #4, the road into the site is paved, but the road to leave the site is crushed gravel, which splashed dirt up onto our rig as we left. Despite the weather, we enjoyed our stay. We had no difficulties with the utilities, the staff was extremely friendly, and we found the drive into downtown Memphis was quick and easy. When the weather permitted, the walk next to the river was pleasant. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

This was our second stay here. Relatively level gravel sites. When making a reservation we specifically requested a site that would allow us to receive satellite. When we got to our site there was a large tree located right where the antenna needed to look. We called the office and asked if we could move to the site next to us that was empty and had a wide open view of the sky. We were told no, it was booked and the people were staying at least two days. They told us the same thing about three other open sites on the row we were on. We were told the only site available was on the river and was $7 more per night. We asked them to wave the additional fee since it was their mistake. They said no. We asked to have our charge reversed and we would just leave. They said there would be a $10 charge for "cancelling" the reservation, so we stayed and changed sites. We had to disconnect to drive to the office and pay the additional fee. So much for having a pull-thru site. The next morning the site next to our original site was still open. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Evidently, we got the last pull-through available. It was grass, and the sewer connection was hidden, so we thought we were only water/electricity. Other pull-through sites are either gravel or concrete. River flowing by was nice. We only stayed one night, but the campground was OK. Reservations recommended as park was still completely full in late September. Park is right next to the river. Escort to your site. The park is divided into three areas. Sites vary from full sun to partial shade to full shade depending on your site. If you want to be near the river you can expect partial shade from mature trees in one part of the park and full sun in the other. Some sites have concrete pads while most sites are crushed gravel. Sites are reasonably level. Free cable TV and wifi. Both worked well. Verizon signal was only 2 bars but worked for Internet and phone. Interior roads are a little narrow but doable with a big rig. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

The campground is kept very clean. The section where I was located had gravel and cement pads. The coach was on the cement while the truck was on the gravel. The site was long enough for truck and camper with not need to unhook. I was in the section that was labeled 80 thru 100. If you have a 5'ver, you will be treated to excellent views of the Mississippi river and its barge traffic. The down side is there are not shade trees. I stayed only 1 night but would stay longer the next time to explore the area. FYI there is no cable as shown by the website and Park Reviews. However, there are several channels available over the air. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.
