The campground is kept very clean. The section where I was located had gravel and cement pads. The coach was on the cement while the truck was on the gravel. The site was long enough for truck and camper with not need to unhook. I was in the section that was labeled 80 thru 100. If you have a 5'ver, you will be treated to excellent views of the Mississippi river and its barge traffic. The down side is there are not shade trees. I stayed only 1 night but would stay longer the next time to explore the area. FYI there is no cable as shown by the website and Park Reviews. However, there are several channels available over the air. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This park was fabulous! I was afraid that we would not be able to get reservations for the Labor Day weekend. Therefor I booked us for four nights. It was great! We visited Beal street in Memphis and the Peabody hotel. But the best was watching the Mississippi. Loved this place. Washing was free! The laundry room was very clean. Trash was picked up three times daily at your site. I would stay here again. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Go downtown Memphis to Beal street and the Peabody hotel. The hotel has ducks going from the hotel top to the lobby where they stay all day. At five in the evening the ducks again go up the elevator. It's quite a ritual worth watching. The lobby has great drinks and desserts.

Trash picked up four times a day. The staff are great. The guy that checks on you to be sure you're OK is a real people person. He would ride by picking up trash and chat for a few minutes . The grounds are very well kept and great for walking. The only thing we didn't like was after 6pm the mosquitoes come out and they are bad. We tried having a fire but that didn't help. We stayed eight nights. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Memphis, TN is what you make it. If you don't have fun it's your fault. The river boat cruise was interesting as was Beale St.

Lovely park. They escort you to your site which is always nice. Great view of Mississippi River boat traffic. Sites 91 thru 100 are great for 5th wheels as your back window will face the river, however there is no bath house in this section. Sites 66 to 76 have a great view thru the front window if you are in a motorhome or a wonderful view from the side windows in a TT or 5th or from outside your door. This section has GREAT trees. Section 54 thru 65 have a somewhat good view of the river and some trees. Section 40 thru 53 have a limited view from inside your camper and limited trees. Section 80 thru 90 have no trees and a limited view of the river. The back section doesn't really have any view of the river to speak of. There are 2 bathhouses/laundry on the property. Laundry is free. Some sites are gravel and some concrete. Most are pull thru. We walked the Big River Crossing which you can access on the West Memphis side from Dacus Lake Road or on the Memphis side. This is a railroad track converted into a walking/biking trail and it crosses the Mississippi then goes further. You can also rent/drop bikes (electric/solar powered it appeared) in different places in Memphis and also on the West Memphis side of the trail. The rate appeared VERY reasonable. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Close to Memphis and any attractions there you want to visit. Close to Kroger and Walmart. Seems like the go to place to stop while traveling in this area. The camp is full most every night. We took the paddleboat tour which is at 2:30 and an hour and a half. The guide was very knowledgeable and told us many facts not typically known about the area.

The hardest part was finding the park, after that it was wonderful. You are right on the Mississippi River. It is just beautiful. Plenty of space between Rv's, the roads are easy to maneuver. The rate was great. A very large field in the middle of the park for walking pets playing. Every 10-15 feet is a bench for you to sit and enjoy the river. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Travel Trailer.

Not as overwhelmed by this park as many others have been, probably because we were in the "woods" area. The sites in this area are smaller, muddy after a recent rain, and the roads are tight. Will probably stay again if e can get a river site. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This was our second stay at Tom Sawyer. This time we stayed on paved pull thru facing the Mississippi River it was worth the few extra bucks. Site was level with some shade, but no grass, though is plenty of grassy areas nearby. No problems with utilities. However, the site next to ours did not have water. We were told it was closed, and surprised when someone pulled in, and then proceeded to share our water. The view was great. We have a 44' motorhome, and towed. Easy access, and easy check in. Good location to downtown Memphis. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Downtown area; Beale Street, and the Riverfront are fun. We always enjoy Gus's Fried Chicken when were there, but I would avoid it on the weekends. It was very crowded, with a wait.

I think every site has a view of the Mississippi River. Some closer than others. The sites are very long, with ample width and generous space between sites. We were in the second row from the waterfront. The front row sites were slightly closer together but not crowded. Garbage is picked up 3 times a day. Our site was gravel and very level. Our site had shade at the rear. Several waterfront sites had more shade. We enjoyed the tranquil setting near the water and a large campground to walk around. Basically, there were 3 sections, one being the furthest away from the water but still with a view to the waterfront. Wifi did not work for us. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

This is the second time we've stayed here. This time with another motor home traveling with us. It is just so lovely to be riverfront. There aren't a lot a amenities, but we didn't need any. This is the only place that I have been that the washer/dryer is free. No WiFi or cable. You may wonder where you are going when you drive in the road, but never fear, you will be fine, lol. Central BBQ is overrated. The riverfront sites I would recommend are 67 thru 75 under the trees and near the bathhouse and laundry. The other sites on the river are 94 thru 100. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

We spent one night at Tom Sawyer's on our way home from a 2-week trip. We really loved it. It was relaxing to watch the barges to by and see the moon rise over the river. We liked it well enough that we have already booked another short stay. We plan to try for a longer stay in the coming year so we can explore Memphis and surrounds. Our campsite was nice and level, and we faced the river. There was a nice laundry room and no charge to do your laundry. The people in the office were super nice, and we were escorted to out campsite. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

2nd stay and we will return. Fantastic location along the Mississippi. Good access to Memphis. Our GPS (Garmin) gave us horrible directions but it's really easy to get to from the I-55. Also get a river front site if available. They are worth the cost (which is still very reasonable). No issues with the power. We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Motorhome.

Great location for visiting Memphis...about 7-10 miles from downtown Memphis attractions. Very convenient to both I-40 and I-55 interstates. Nice setting on the banks of the Mississippi River and fun to watch the large river barges, but campground itself isn't very scenic. This might be because the river floods, so no trees at all on the riverfront section we were in. The upstream/east riverside section (sites 66-75) was much nicer with some shade trades. That being said, our pull-through site did have a nice, long concrete pad with full hookups. The internet was hit and miss and very slow. We picked up several channels on antenna. The laundry room was nice with several washers and dryers....and it was free to do laundry! I've never seen free laundry at a campground, so that was very much appreciated. One night we didn't hear nearby train whistle....the next night we were kept up for hours with the train horns. Guess it might depend on the direction the wind was blowing? We camped at Tom Sawyer's Mississippi River Park in a Fifth Wheel.
