This park is fabulous. Peaceful with NO outside noises other than nature itself. Lots to do and if you have a horse you can trailer in, stable, and stay in your own rig and then go riding on the trails. Makes me want a horse! The restrooms were extremely clean and well maintained. I did notice there wasn't a heater and as others mentioned no ventilation. Lots of open spaces and we enjoyed watching the deer come out to graze. The lake was pretty with the trees changing color and I wondered about the "beach". Not good for laying on but it didn't matter at this time of year. Just a wonderful relaxing place to enjoy the sites and sounds of nature. No cell phone service and no satellite. Perhaps another more open site would give you some reception but not where we were. Very nice staff at the front desk. We look forward to returning. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park and sites. Helpful staff. We rated it down due to lack of ANY ventilation in the restrooms. Excessive heat with NO exhaust fans or A/C! Also very limited/unattractive swimming/beach areas. Ask to see excellent videos in visitor center where you register. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

We don't recommend Kelleys Restaurant. Somewhat limited opportunities spacewise to fill our gas MH. Be prepared for long and winding road into park.

Beautiful park, and surprisingly empty for a mid-June weekend. Other reviews are accurate. There are great trails and two lakes. Our site was supposed to be 37' long, but I think it was more like 30', so if reserving a site, choose a slightly longer site than you normally would. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

I just wanted to reiterate that there is NO CELL SERVICE in this park, even for those who have Verizon. You might get an occasional signal in some of the higher elevations in the park, but do not depend on it. The Verizon store in Wynne told us that they are building two additional towers in the area and that the signal might get better after they are built but that won't be until mid-2018.

We found this campground very quiet and relaxing. We camped in the lower loops and found all the sites very level. The campground was clean, had water and electric. We had a great bike ride down to the visitors center/store. The ladies down there were extremely friendly and helpful. There is plenty to do at this park from boating, bike riding, horse back riding and hiking. It is 13 miles off off I-40 but worth the trip. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Village Creek Park is a very nice state park with two small lakes for kayaking/fishing, plenty of trails for hiking and/or trail-running, tennis courts (a bit old and cracked, but still servicable) and lots of roads to bike on. There is a huge horse camping area with great stables. Guests can reserve camp sites online Staff members were very friendly and helpful. We did have an issue with high voltage tripping our surge protector a few times. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

We enjoyed attending one of numerous nature programs offered at the park. The Park Interpreter was one of the most enthusiastic we have ever met! We also found it fun to bird-watch at Village Creek, and spotted our first Mississippi Kites there. We visited in mid-May, and were not bothered at all by mosquitoes. We understand they can get quite bad later in the summer though.

Beautifully spacious, level, wooded campsites nicely spread out w/ excellent paved interior roads. Spent three nights on the way to Paducah, KY. Have only visited two Arkansas state parks, but both have been very, very nice. Would certainly recommend and stay again. We were in a 27' C-class MH. City of Wynne just down the road w/ all associated amenities, ie stores, restaurants, fast food, fuel, etc. Visited historic mound site a few miles away in Parkin, AR. Very interesting park w/ great interpretive center. Worth the time to visit.

Make sure you bring your supplies. There are some items at the visitor center. A country store outside the park is convenient, but limited stock. Wynne and Forrest City are the closest cities with larger stores (Wal-Mart).

Our favorite Arkansas State Park. Loved this site, we were in full hookup section #60, in the first loop to left. Sister and family and friends came on weekend and we had the whole loop to ourselves. Nice group setting. Quiet during week, but full weekends during fall months. Went to Cowboy Church & outdoor breakfast in Equestrian campsite around the bend on Sunday. Had good friends with us the whole two weeks. Hiking, kayaking, biking were excellent. Geocaches fun, tho we found those on earlier trips. Parking in our site was perfect, room for two vehicles even after parking RV. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Geocaching great. Hiking and kayaking fun. BTW, NO service with AT&T, but those with Verizon had a signal. We loved the disconnect, actually, tho we drove to Wynne (happy hour at Sonic) to check for messages from family (and facebook).

Activities abundant, they have a great Ranger and staff and programs were always offered. Had a star night observation group from Memphis Astronomical Society with large telescopes and fun skygazing.

We often travel between Texas & West Virginia & have used this park twice. Clean, quiet, level paved pads. Well maintained roads w/ decent width. 50A electric, decent water pressure, septic at site. Very clean bathrooms. Trails for bikes, hikes & horses. A pretty lake 50' downhill from our site. Would absolutely visit again. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Positive: We visited this awesome park because of the previous reviews. They are very right, this park is awesome and well worth the 20 minutes off the main highway. The park and bath facilities are very well maintained and the bath facilities did have climate control. The staff is extremely courteous and so were the rangers. Awesome trails and not to far from wynne or forest city.

Negative: There are about two spots on the campground that if you hold your phone just right and the moons align, you can get AT&T cell signal. We are really dependent on cell service and we saw "no service" the whole time there. We had to drive 2 miles outside the park to get cell service. Staff claims Verizon service may be stronger there.

Will we stay there again?....good question. We have to be prepared to be detached from civilization completely. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.

Very nice park with nice campsites. Pads are concrete with asphalt drives. Some of the sites have very good shade. Pull-through sites are available. Very spacious sites and not at all crowded together. Lake access is provided with a swimming beach. We stayed in campground B area which was full hookups with 50 amp service. As other reviewers have said, the park is several miles from commercial shopping and unless you have satellite TV, you are off the grid unless you travel to Forrest City (13 miles) or Wynne (about 7 miles). That said, it is located in the Crowley's Ridge area of Arkansas, a unique area that contrasts sharply with the surrounding delta farmland. Wildlife can be seen throughout the park. For golfers, there is a 27-hole course that is just as unique as the park is. Staff at both the park office and the golf pro shop were both friendly and helpful. This is a very nice park to camp at. We saw deer every morning and plenty of raccoons at dusk, so dispose of your trash bags before going to bed. There is two lakes there to visit. One of the lakes you can rent fishing boats with trolling motor, reasonable priced as well. There is a loop that has full hook ups. The staff does a great job keeping restrooms clean. A great place to camp until the mosquitoes come out. I seen someone's post about Verizon not having signal, same for AT&T. Although I was able to drive to a restroom on the other side of the campground I was able to get signal on Verizon but my wife was not with AT&T. We camped with a large group here for the weekend. Most of the sites there are level and a good distance apart from others. There are a few that are not very level but they are best suited for tents anyway with raised terraces. There are two loops with all sites on the outside edge of the loops making this small campground feel very "uncrowded" even when full. The center areas are open grass fields that are perfect for the kids to run, play soccer or baseball, etc. There are also a few good mountain biking/hiking trails and some horseback riding trails as well. Some trails are limited to hiking or biking and some are multi-use trails. The stall also has ranger led activities on a lot of weekends. The weekend we were there they had a ranger led nature hike, an education session on local spiders, and a dutch oven demonstration. The staff is friendly and helpful. Little/No cell service is refreshing, requiring you to "unplug" for a little while. We camped at Village Creek State Park in a Travel Trailer.
