8 Electric only sites are available at the Historic Hat Creek Ranch. Site was ample size and level, the 30 amp service was in excellent condition. The ranch setting added great ambience. The staff were very friendly. We suggest reservations for sure. The site was a combination of dry powdered soil and very dry-brown grass. We wish they would put some water on the site to green it up. Tracking dried grass-weed material into your unit is unavoidable. We were there for one night on our way north. We also paid the optional entrance fee and visited the National Historic Ranch itself. It is worth the visit. Watch out for mosquitoes. We camped at Historic Hat Creek Ranch in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: May, 2017 - $19.00
Overall Rating:

There is 30 amp electric but no water or sewer at the site. We arrived after the office closed and though there is a self pay option, there were no instructions as to where we could fill our water tanks. Sites are grass and were very long and wide. They backed up to the horse pasture and the horses came up to our back window to say hello. There is also a large dry camping area in the adjacent field which costs less. The property has a restaurant that is open for breakfast and lunch and a large gift shop. Many tour groups stop here because they offer educational historic programs with staff in period costumes. The horses pull a stagecoach that takes guests on a ride around the grounds. The programs are NOT included in the price of camping. We would stay here again, but would check for where water filling area is. We camped at Historic Hat Creek Ranch in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Must be seated in restaurant by 4:15 pm to get an evening meal. Historical programs would be great for families.

Overall Rating:

This is a unique campground just off Highway 97 11 km north of Cache Creek. There are eight 30 amp sites with water available at the restaurant/gift shop. Nice place for coffee and homemade pie. The closest sani-dump is in Cache Creek. There is some highway noise and there can be some wind gusts. Large, unfenced area to exercise your pet including a walk along the Hat Creek. We will stay here again. We camped at Historic Hat Creek Ranch in a Travel Trailer.
