Overall Rating:

The park road is fairly narrow and two way traffic not possible near the entrance. Exiting back onto street a challenge as well. Beyond that this is an excellent park. Friendly and courteous staff who checked us in quickly and escorted/guided us into our river view site. The site was a good crushed gravel site with grass between adjacent sites. A table was included at the site. No fire ring, but there was a group fire pit site nearby. There appeared to be many seasonal or permanent sites. While the river view sites were back-ins, there were some overnight pull-through sites as well. Well landscaped and maintained park. Cable TV had around 50 channels and they were clear. Wi-Fi was strong at time of use and no problem browsing or for e-mail. There was an old drive-in theatre screen on site that marked the park's earlier use. We would definitely stay at this park if in the area again. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nearby is the old Brilliant Bridge and Veregin Memorial Park. Castlegar, about 3 miles south, is the closest location for gas and groceries.

For us, the best part about this Park is that it is adult oriented with quiet times 24 hours a day. This makes for good sound sleeping. All services worked very very well, and the staff are very good. Great access to the river for fishing, and tons of walking and hiking trails in the area. Could only find two negative things - the road going in and out is very narrow, so watch for RVs coming and going, and the lids on the garbage bin are very heavy. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Travel Trailer.

This is a hidden gem as far as RV Parks in BC go. Family run, built on an old Drive In Movie site. Still, has the old screen and the office is in the original projection/confectionary building. Good fishing spot a short walk away on the Koutenay River. Castlegar is a nice little city with lots to see and do in the area. Casino just up the road. Lots of great places to eat. Full hook up with 50A power which is rare. VERY Friendly. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice, challenging Golf Course nearby. Casino has great food, Prime Rib on Fridays. Interesting downtown section. Best Barber in BC downtown on Columbia Ave.

The grounds are absolutely beautiful and well cared for. Lots of trees for shade and well manicured grass beside the level gravel pads. Services are new and readily accessible to the trailer hook-ups. Very clean camping areas.

Staff is very friendly and knowledgable. They work hard keeping the landscaping and trees in top notch shape. Lots of flowers and greenery to enhance your stay. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

A short walk to the Kootenay river and good viewing of the local mountains. Fishing is good in the Kootenay river upstream or downstream of the camp grounds. A boat is recommended for most of the season.

Overall Rating:

Nice grassed, level, pull through sites with some shade trees. Very friendly and helpful staff, all around good experience here. Very clean and well looked after RV park with paved roads though you have to hope that you don't meet someone on the way in as someone will be backing up. I would stay there again if I found myself in the area again. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This is a nice quiet campground. Some of the interior roads are paved, while other parts are on packed gravel. The sites are also on packed gravel and some are large enough to accommodate rigs over 40 feet. All of the utilities are on the middle side of the site. River side sites have 20/30/50 amp while the rest of the park has 20/30 amp electrical service. All sites have FHU. The electrical voltage was good. The free Wi-Fi was good. There is a washroom with one shower for each gender. They were clean, but we did not use them. One writer mentioned that there were too many rules that you had to follow. Sure there are rules, but no more than any other campground. The owner stressed that she did not want loud noise or parties after 10 pm. I’m good with that. As a result we had a good nights sleep while we were here. There were a number of long term residents in the park, but their sites were tidy. The nightly rate was for a week with 30 amp service. We would definitely come back here if we were in the area. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Only RV park in Castlegar open in winter. Plenty of seasonal guests but not really old RV's. Sites are gravel and level. Our hookups were front left and our power cord just made it to the pedestal. Cable TV was fine and Wi-Fi too, free and good. Office and washroom building is dated and could need a good update. Washrooms and showers are older style and about as clean as possible, but still looked dated. Grounds were OK and will probably be pretty nice in summer. Setup along river is very nice and I can imagine in summer time it is a very nice park with plenty of flowers and tall trees. We will return on our next trip to this area. We camped at Kootenay River RV Park (Formerly Kootenay River RV Kampground) in a Fifth Wheel.
