Traveling to Alaska in early spring does not leave a lot of choices for places to stay. The price with Passport America was $20US or $25C, cash. The park did not look completely open, no BBQ or wi-fi. Both my husband and I found the owner entertaining and helpful. I can see how some people might not appreciate his humor, but we did. He also helped us with our route, advising us on bad road conditions. Our site was a pull through on the back row. We had no problem navigating the interior roads in our 38' motor home w/tow. The site itself was gravel with a grassy area and picnic table. We had no trouble leveling or connecting to utilities. We weren't bothered by the road noise, but it is a major road. The town of Clinton is within walking distance. We would stay here again. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

Park owner is a character, but friendly and helpful. Road noise during the day but quiets down at night. Some pull-thrus, decent connections. Handy to in town services. Our site was a back in towards the highway. No WiFi, limited over-air TV. Did not use laundry, washrooms or restrauant... Okay place for a nite or two. Would stay there again. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Sites weren't bad but the rest of the park was a dump. The owner is quite rude (although he thinks he's funny). His idea of a buffet was some warmed over leftovers in crock pots which we weren't allowed to look at until our meat of choice was cooked and served. Road kill ribs is his specialty but my husband tried them and said they were pretty awful. Owners live in an upscale Newmar RV but the area around the 'office' was a dump. He looked at our choice of diet Pepsi and commented "I guess it doesn't work" (meaning our weight). When I started posting on my phone, he came over and told me that was not allowed; if I wanted to act like a child then he'd treat me like one. There were no other customers there - - and rightly so. SKIP THIS PLACE ! There are others nearby. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The town of Clinton offers absolutely nothing other than a grocery store I wouldn't go in and two 'flea market' type stores. Quite ugly. Drive through and don't stop.

Upon arrival we were given a site where the utilities were on the wrong side. Owner asked us if we had an extension cord, which we did not. We asked if we could move to a site that was level vs. on a hill and wouldn't require using an extension cord. He said "you're a pain" just because we needed one on the right side in order to plug in. He gave us a site on a hill where the tow vehicle was on an incline causing us to drag our tow hitch thru the grass. He was rude to my partner insinuating she was fat when she was complimenting him on cooking. He said "never trust a skinny cook, I see you cook a lot". He used his dirty apron to wipe the plates off before he served food on them. He knew we were Americans and insulted our country. The grounds are nice on the lower part of the park but the ones located at the top are difficult to get in unless you have a small rig. He didn't care if you had a difficult time trying to get in the site, you were going to be where he tells you to go! We had a 35 foot MH with a tow and it was a challenge! I would not stay there again due to the owners rudeness and his attitude towards Americans. We would had left but it was late at night and raining so unfortunately we stayed. This place is cash only! We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

Got in around 1PM and had my pick of sites, took a pull-thru in the middle; plenty of room - both width and length for my 38' 5th wheel and tow vehicle. Site was level, 30AMP power was good. I'll echo the other comments about the owner - he's strange but friendly. Only was overnighting so didn't hook up water or sewer. Interior roads were plenty wide; in and out was easy.

Went to the BBQ - had the "road kill" meat - tasted and looked like pork but he wouldn't tell me. The BBQ was excellent and at 14.99 CAD was a good value as well.

My only knock was the road was noisy with big trucks until 10. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very nice RV park, but don't stay here if you don't have a sense of humor, or can't take a joke. The owner is a terrific guy, but I think of him as the Don Rickles of Canada. He is hilarious, but his humor can be a bit much. Personally, I loved the guy and I was laughing my whole time there. That said, this is a nice little RV park right on the highway which is perfect for an overnight stop or a couple of days stay. We stayed an extra day because Highway 97 was closed for a week due to washouts, and we took some time to reevaluate our travel plans. Clinton is a charming little town, and everything is within walking distance of the park. We especially enjoyed the local historical museum. The owner is also a great cook, and serves a mean BBQ with a good buffet of side orders. We would definitely stay here again. Don't let the negative reviews fool you. He is is a good guy, and was a big help when our travel plans needed to change. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

The park was clean although our site was tight, especially for the person next to us. They would not have been able to open their awning. The owner was interesting and the BBQ food was just okay. A bit overcooked but was better than cooking. The WiFi was a joke. We were not asked to pay for it and only got about an hour use, if that, because we were told it wouldn't be turned on until around 5 PM and then we had dinner there. Will not stay again if passing through the area although the price was not bad for full hookups. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Relatively flat site, pull-through large enough for our 40-ft Motorhome with tow. Good water pressure, sewer, 30 amp. The owner, Michael, is a hoot. He's outspoken and could rub some people the wrong way, but he's got a good heart and is also an excellent cook. His little restaurant serves an all-u-can-eat barbecue buffet that's tasty (especially check out the dessert made with local berries). Nice, quiet night's sleep. This campground has pull-through and back-in sites. They are fairly level but we did need to use wood blocks on our dirt pull-through site. This campground is nothing fancy but works good for a night or two. The owner is a smartass but I believe this is his way of trying to be funny, he takes it as good as he dishes it. The utilities worked well but the Wi-Fi is only available from 4PM to 10AM and $2. They don't have cable but we were able to get 3 over the air channels. Getting to the campground is easy from the highway but getting around in it was a little tight for our 40'. We would stay here again. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

If you enjoy geocaching, the city has several hidden in this area. You can walk to Clinton from the campground and they have done an excellent job at erecting information signs and pictures about its history.

Stayed here overnight, it was raining and not a nice evening. Disappointed in the owner/manager--each question I asked he had a smart answer. Wi-Fi very limited. Site was not level, but nice lawn. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Truck Camper.

This is a lovely landscaped campground full of flowers and vegetable plants even in August. We were assigned a long pull thru 30 amp FHU site. The owner's schtick had us upset at first as we pulled into our site but upon further conversation, we realized that it is all an act and he was very friendly. We did not use the bathhouse or laundry and cannot comment on cell service as we had our devices off in Canada. Did not use the campground wifi. We did eat dinner at the restaurant and enjoyed a good meal. It we had any complaint, it would be some tree trimming is in order for some of the sites. We would stay here again. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Over all the stay was good. First the negative. The WiFi did not reach the camp spaces, it had to be used in the office/restaurant. The hookups Water/Electric) were on the wrong side of the space and required extensions. Now the good. Park is easy to find, easy to maneuver, and it is clean. The owner/Manager cooks and serves a nightly buffet that is well worth the money. We will stay there again if we come back that way. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

An interesting place. We were directed to a site, even though it was mostly empty, that we would not have chosen. But it was OK and reasonably level. Hookups were fine. WiFi worked well. They have a nightly buffet with salmon, ribs, and other items, along with salad, vegetables in drinks. Eating is mostly outside under cover. We were at the tail end the first night, and owner fired up everything and we ate well. The second night we ate there again and talked to others. There are regulars who stop to and from Alaska every year. We would probably stay there again, but maybe we would try a more normal place. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.

The same owner with the crass sense of humor is still at the park, but we did note a for sale sign on the front fence. Pull through sites are long and narrow so we didn't have to unhook the tow car. Grass was green and well cared for but there are no patio areas to lounge on. We ate at the Bar-b-cue that the owner makes each night. It was acceptable but not great. The road noise was not bad at night. We paid cash upon arrival and the owner preferred US currency to Canadian. The rate included internet, which I wound up not needing as our Telus air card worked well. I would stay here again. We camped at Gold Trail RV Park in a Motorhome.
