We have stayed at the Spruce Grove RV Campground a few times and have been DISAPPOINTED EVERY TIME. No more. They have an inadequate amount of washroom and shower facilities. In the five years we've come, nothing has been upgraded or fixed. All of the doors on the stalls in the ladies room need work or replacing. You can hardly stand to be in the pit toilets at the other end of the campground. WORST OF ALL - This Campground does not enforce rules about quiet time. WE HAVE NEVER SEEN IT PATROLLED. When we've called in the past, we've just got the answering machine. This past week we stayed thinking we would give it one more chance. We were near the large group renting site - a BIG problem in the past, but since our trip started mid week, there was no one there. On Friday, we came back to our site at 10 pm to find 12-13 units in the site. The occupants were loud and were obviously gathered for a party (we heard talk of a wedding). We expected some noise, but these campers continued until well after 5AM to play music and talk loud enough we could follow their entire conversation. At one point, it also sounded like they were setting off fire crackers - under a province wide fire ban. A camper in a nearby site (not in the group site) also ran his generator until 11:30 pm. We've learned our lesson - we won't spend our money ANYWHERE at this resort again. We've also told many friends looking for camping in the area this was an "adequate option" - not anymore - we'll be steering our friends elsewhere from now on. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Tent Trailer.

Date of Stay: August, 2016 - $40.00
Overall Rating:

This is a nice and clean campground with limited full hookups. It's situated along the upper reaches of the Columbia River in an incredibly scenic part of Canada. Sites are grass and gravel and 95% level, meaning our rig is less than a degree off side-to-side. Excepting for some highway noise and an occasional train, it's a quiet campground. This is not a resort, like a Class A only motorhome resort. It's a campground. It's also associated with the Fairmont Hot Springs RV Resort a couple miles up the road, which is much more resortish. Spruce Grove advertises that they have all the amenities of the Hot Springs resort, but they don't. There is no dining or hot springs at Spruce Grove; it's a nice campground, although their entry sign says they do have dining and hot springs. One nice thing about this Canadian campground is that they don't charge for showers, something I'll not get used to about any campground. One fee should take care of all the basic necessities. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

Great staff, nice location, 5 minute drive to Fairmont Hot Springs. The Columbia River flows just behind the campground, very fun to play in and float down with inner tubes. The building, bathrooms and pool could all use some TLC, but showers are free. Small grocery and liquor store nearby. A LOT of skunks around at night, they are used to humans and don't scare easily but use flashlights if walking around -put your garbage in the bins and away from your site by dusk, or they will come around looking for food. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Tent Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Check out the Hot Springs, or rent a kayak. The town of Invermere is 30 minutes north, for supplies and more.

Made Reservation online for a full hookup site with cable. Check in went smooth and proceeded to site. Hooked up to cable connection and no reception. Upon checking back at office was told the cable was shut off in the spring even though no mention on website. The staff was helpful with a refund so we could go to another campground. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This campground has a great location near the Hot Springs and shops. It was nice being so close to the river and having grassy areas to play sports. Also the staff was friendly. Only downfall was some of the louder group campers. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Pros: A friendly front desk, convenient shuttle service to the hot springs, shopping, golfing, clean pool for the kids, good running (jogging) location. Cons: Was very little water pressure in less than pristine showers, the free WiFi is only available at sites very close to office. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The only downside of beautiful Spruce Grove is that the free WiFi didn't reach to our site on the river. We had plenty of room to back into our site, and loved walking our dogs through the grounds. The staff was helpful and friendly. The location is perfect: the hot springs are only a 5 minute drive away, and half-price ($5 Canadian) for the last hour of the day, 9-10 p.m. This is a great overnight park on the way to Banff. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Motorhome.

Fairmont Hot Springs is much less crowded than Radium, so it's a good place to relax. This park is right on the highway, so expect some noise. Night traffic is very modest, so it is livable. All of the W\E\S hookups are right by the road, but there are many sites well off the road and very quiet, very private. Internet works well in the several sites near the road, but not the more remote ones! Would stay again for a short stay. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Excellent family campground. Pool is right behind the office and is nice and looks clean. The office staff are friendly and helpful. There is plenty of parking space and access to the sites in the front area of the park. The back section next to the river looked at little bit cramped for large rigs. They don't seem to have many full hook up sites. Water pressure isn't bad, and the sites are clean. The free WiFi was fast and worked at our site which was directly in view of the office, but was told that it didn't reach all sites. Very convenient access directly off the highway - traffic noise was a little bothersome at busy times, but not too inconvenient. They have fire pits and grassy sites, with gravel pads. There is a small playground area for kids. Overall, I would recommend this park as an economical alternative in town. We camped at Spruce Grove Resort in a Fifth Wheel.
