We had a beautiful landscaped site surrounded by tall trees and ferns. It was a gravel back-in that sloped down in the rear, so I had to do a lot of levelling. There was a picnic table and fire ring and they were clean and maintained. We were located next to the beach trail that took us through a temperate rain forest before opening up to a gravel and sandy beach. The campground roads are all paved. Garbage, recycle, water tap, and pit toilets were grouped together in several places throughout the campground. No hookups at the sites. There is a dump station across the highway from the park entrance. Generator hours are 9-11am and 6-8pm. No Wi-Fi, OTA TV and too many trees for satellite TV, so bring a book. Or better yet, explore the park. The day use area has group fire pits, picnic tables, and a playground. There are several trails that lead to marshes and the beach. From the beach one can view the Olympic Mountains in Washington state or possibly gray whales enroute to the Bering Sea or Baja California. This is a lovely park and definitely on our return list. We camped at French Beach Provincial Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is our home park. What I mean by that is we live locally and for a nice weekend getaway we take our trailer to this park. We have been coming here first as renters with small kids and now as our kids have grown and we became trailer people, with our 22ft trailer.

This campsite is Provincial and you can reserve it online. There are lots of great spots so you won't be disappointed.

No power, water or sewer hookups. Dry camping only but there is a sani dump across the street.

The 'outhouses' are newer and very clean. No spiders or slugs like some places.

Spots are fairly spacious and mostly private. The beach is very rocky at high tide but lovely and sandy at low tide.

You won't be disappointed! We camped at French Beach Provincial Park in a Travel Trailer.

Located about 20 km west of Sooke on highway 14. Typical provincial park layout. Table and fire ring provided at each site. This is located in a rain forest so don't expect to see much of the sun. Some sites would fit a 35 footer but not many. It gets very busy in the summer months so reservations are a must. There is very little to do at this park. This is a very good place to relax and enjoy the quiet. A number walking trails will lead you to a rock and pebbly beach where you can watch for seals, sea lions etc (including whales in season). The water is cold so don't expect to go swimming. A few km west is Jordan River if you are into surfing or kayaking. We camped at French Beach Provincial Park in a Motorhome.
