Excellent sites. PLENTY of room and privacy too in a generous pull-through site. Amenities were okay, but the sites really shine. Full service and firepits too. Plus walking distance to shopping. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Great location for a park on the oceansize. Some of the sites are treed/shady/dark and others are a little more open with views. Very friendly service and efficient checkin. Cable box for TV is extra ($1 per day) and there is a charge for internet at your site, but free at the clubhouse. Nice laundry facilities. This is a popular campground and rigs are coming and going frequently, particularly on weekends. Kid friendly. Dog friendly. Sites are gravel and are quite level, and wide. Easy to park RV and extra vehicles. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Very close to shopping and services. If you want sun and views, get one of the outer sites on the ocean side. Otherwise, the others are wooded/shady! Make reservations early.

This park is in dense forest so navigating the tiny windy roads was a challenge since we are 58 feet long when hooked up. I had to trim some branches over the 5th wheel as well. Not much viewing of the water unless you get some of the upper hill spots nearer to the lake. Otherwise, if you like a serene RV spot where you don't even know your neighbor is there, then this is the place for you. We were in site # 186 which is one of the few pull thrus that had 50 amps. The plug ins are the same as the US plug ins. No adapters needed. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

RV living with the natural feel of a state or national park, including hiking trails with lovely views of the estuary and water fowl. Paved roads make navigation easy, and our gravel site was level and very spacious for our 38' MH and car with hedges for a private feel. Water, sewer, and 30-amp electricity hookups were convenient. At an extra cost of $4/day, the WiFi should have been both more reliable and faster. We are glad we didn't have to use the bathrooms because they were quite a hike and showers cost extra. We didn't use the laundry. Overall, we thought the price was right and a good value. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

From the Oceanside sites the view was spectacular. We saw five golden eagles circling overhead, also two bald eagles and a couple of Canada geese families, plus a sea otter who entertained us. Each site is surrounded by hedges, so privacy is fine. All sites were immaculate and the staff worked hard to keep them that way. Lots of families and some older people, but no party hearty groups (in June). There was a small group of Girl Guides having fun. The beach is tiny, but nice for paddling and there's a good off leash dog walking area along from the beach, quite separate from the Campground. Good wifi and basic cable, good phone signal. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Good base for exploring Vancouver Island's East Coast. There are many choices for sites, some in the forest, others high up above the ocean/estuary and ours was right overlooking the ocean with nothing but a few natural trees to obscure our wonderful view. There's a little cafe onsite, open during the summer season. The staff were particularly helpful and friendly. I can't remember the exact site fee, hence the $1 entry above!

We have been here many times in the past and know the routine fairly well. First thing is we get there early enough in the afternoon, so we aren't in a line up with other campers when registering in the office. Since we always reserve, registration goes fast. If you come to this park often, get a frequent camper card. I was able to save one night's fee for this stay. The one annoying thing that I found was that the office doesn't inform you about having to get a cable TV box for the digital TV. So I end up having to go back to the office for that. To loan the cable box you have to leave credit card information. The best sites for viewing the harbour and estuary are the ocean front or ocean view sites. These get reserved well in advance. I was lucky to get my spot back in October last year. Our site was a level, gravel back-in with a picnic table and fire ring. There were plenty of trees and shrubs on the sides for privacy and in the back was an open view of the lower sites, the harbour and estuary. It was hot during our stay and the shade helped keep the heat out of our motorhome. Hookups were in a good location. The Electric, Cable TV, and Water were in the rear corner while Sewer was towards the middle. All utilities worked fine. Wi-FI was paid Tengo at the site. There was free Wi-Fi at the cafe and around the office and lounge. The free Wi-Fi was good enough for e-mail and browsing. The cable TV needed a box to get the signals. No HD channels available. I tried OTA TV, but only got one poor signal from my antenna. There are plenty of trails around the park and down to the estuary. The laundry was fairly clean and no problems with washing or drying. The cafe had just opened up during our stay. Good place for breakfast or a coffee. It has tables on a viewing deck. Garbage drop off mainly down by the exit near the office. Some places for bottle or can recycle or disposal of small garbage bags. We will be back again next year. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Beautiful park, but they should not be advertising cable. When I asked why my cable didn't work they said I needed a box. When I asked why they didn't tell me that at checkin, they said the boxes were only for campers staying a week or more. They only have 70 boxes and over 200 campsites.False advertising if you ask me. We have stayed here many times and have never been disappointed. Fast check-in and fairly easy access to our site. It was a gravel back-in and considered a forest view. That meant no great view of the ocean, but plenty of trees. That was okay with us as it was definitely cooler in the trees than in the open. The one disappointment and it was a minor one was due to the site being very unlevel and I had to use up all my boards to bring it level. There was a table and fire ring as well. The hookup connections are in the middle which worked out well with our rig. The sewer connection was not threaded so used a large rock provided to anchor it. Otherwise all utilities worked fine. The cable TV didn't work because the office neglected to tell me that a cable box was now needed so I had to leave my credit card number with the office in order to loan one. After that the cable TV worked fine and all channels were clear. Basic package with about 30 channels. There was free Wi-Fi near the cafe, but wasn't accessible from our site. Otherwise the park offers Tengo for $3 a day up to $20 for a month. Some great walking trails in the park and access to the river estuary where boats are available for rent. We will continue to stay here while in the area. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Sites are flat, clean and spacious. We had a lovely pull-thru site but could have easily backed our unit into one of the water-front sites. Beautiful walking trails. This is a hard campground to review because it is so big and the sites so different depending upon where you are located. Most sites are forested and shady, although they have some tent sites on the beach or on a bluff which would get more sun. The same goes for privacy - some sites have very little and some have more where you can't see your neighbors. They charge extra for showers, which I find annoying in a private campground where you are already paying more for than a public campground. The staff in the front office was always helpful and friendly despite being non-stop busy, as you can imaging in a 200 plus site campground. This is a very family oriented place with lots of kids, especially in the summer there were big groups around. Quiet time isn't until 11PM, which is a bit later than I prefer, especially when the sites are so close together and voices/noise carry easily. Interior roads were narrow and should be one-way or better delineated for traffic flow as there is a lot of speeding, despite the signs warning of "kids everywhere - slow down." Sites mostly level. WiFi OK, but don't expect to download or stream, they will bounce you to dial up speed, even though you are paying extra for WiFi in the first place. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

Take the BC Ferry to Gabriola Island for an easy day trip or to Salt Spring Island for an overnight jaunt. The bakery in neighboring Ladysmith on the main street is yummy as is the ice cream at the Sweet Shoppe.

Big park. Lots of vegetation everywhere. Spots are pretty close together and not very big rig friendly. Some spots are not very level. Utilities are good and work as expected. There is a small cafe down by the water that has free wifi that works well. The wifi on site is paid and doesn't work all that well. We took our laptop down to the cafe and did our internet business while looking out over the water while enjoying an ice cream. I would love to give this park a ten. We have started our travels early this year. We spent 3 weeks at Living Forest. We were charged for a month at "off season" rates because it worked out less expensive for us. This was decided by the staff at Living Forest. We did not ask for a discount. We noticed that there were plenty of folks who were spending the winter hwere. This is not uncommon as the weather on Vancouver Island is very warm compared to the rest of Canada. These long term folks were made to keep the sites neat and tidy. Has I not known better I would have thought them to be short term. There were a few units that had tarp covering their roof. We thought that they were leaky but it turns out these people just wanted to keep moss from growing. This is a rain forest climate. The sites are well spaced, gravel based (for drainage), clean and very easy to access. The park is close (but not walking distance) to all kinds of shopping and restaurants etc. I have only one complaint. We paid for Wifi that was terrible. I mostly could not even log on. We used our own internet service. When checking out I made sure that the operator was aware. They did remind me that I was told it was basic...pretty much for e-mail only. I told them it was even good for that. We paid $17.75 per night Cdn inc tax and I feel we received good value. We camped at Living Forest Oceanside RV Park and Campground in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for 3 nights with our two labs. Stayed in a pull-through, heavily treed, so lots of shade. Will stay in ocean view or oceanside next stay, to get some sun, especially in October.

Park is in a very natural setting, very lush vegetation. Sites gravel/ crushed rock, roads are paved. Beautiful setting on coast. Great to have WiFi and cable TV. No street lights, need to take flash light. Easy walking paths, roads, trails. Short drive to shopping (groceries, drug store, restaurants, gasoline, etc). 15 minute drive from ferry (Nanaimo to Horseshoe Bay/ Vancouver). Overall Rating:

The entrance near the office was jammed with parked vehicles as there wasn't enough room to park and register. However, registration went smoothly and I was able to get a free night due to my frequent camper card given to me last year. Park roads are paved and campsites are well graveled. Our site (#157) was fairly private due to the trees and shrubs surrounding it, but we still had a good view of the ocean. Sites have tables and fire rings. Hookups were mid way and actually worked well with my setup. All utilities worked fine. Garbage had to be taken down to near the entrance and sometimes there were lineups of RVs making it challenging to get around them. Cable TV was fairly basic with plenty of music channels. Most of the time the channels were clear, but occasionally spotty. WiFi at the site costs extra and I didn't have time to use it so didn't bother getting it. There was a Shaw Go Wifi hotspot near the office that was free for registered devices. Most of the time it was quiet, but some of the "weekend warriors" could be heard late at night. There are some nice trails to hike. We missed out on using the small restaurant down the lane from us as it closed after Labour Day. All in all still a pretty good place to stay for awhile.
