Fairly steep access road, but still doable for most rigs, except for the big ones. Our site was a fairly level grass back-in. Hookups were in the rear corner. We had 30 amp, but some sites looked liked they had only 15. The utilities all worked fine. There were some permanent residents, but they were located on the other side of the road. So were the restrooms, showers and the dump station. Park manager friendly and informative. No TV or Wi-Fi. The trees would prevent any satellite signal. There is a trail that will take you down to town or circle back below the campground. We would stay here again if ever in the area again. We camped at Broughton Strait Campsite in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the ferry to Alert Bay where the world's tallest totem pole is located. Or another ferry to Sointula on Malcolm Island, first populated by a group of Finns that established a co-operative movement.

This a cute little campground on edge of Port McNeill with somewhat level, grass, full service sites in the forest. An old building is set up as a bath house (free showers) but it is functional. There is a dump on site. No television but good cell coverage. There were less than 10 sites occupied when we were there. Most of these were workers in the fishing or logging industries. We had planned to stay one night but decided to stay for three nights. We stayed in a travel trailer and would stay here again. We camped at Broughton Strait Campsite in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

All services are available in Port McNeill. Be sure to visit the Tourist Centre for local and regional information and the local museum. Plan a day trip on the ferry (foot passenger and vehicle) to Malcolm Island and visit the fishing community of Sointula. Enjoy the culture of this unique Finnish settlement which was founded in the early 1900s.

Also, plan a day trip to Port Hardy, visit the ferry terminal to the north, and see the End of the Highway Carrot Campaign monument
