This venerable old oceanside rv park has been taken over by the Songhees/Esqimault Indian Nations. They completely gutted the old worn out facilities and installed state of the art utility pedestals, cement pads and landscaping. One of our perennial complaints about the former park, especially when spending the winter, was the lack of any gathering place. A spanking new two story structure sits in the middle of the park. The main floor houses washrooms and laundry, all new, and the second floor has been set aside for guests for lounging. It has yet to be opened but one can see a beautifully appointed large great room graced with native art and artifacts. The theme of the park is first nations with large cedar carved figures greating you as you enter the park. One convenience missing is cable TV and it is our info that they are currently working on this. We were fortunate to get in on the opening rates and the new ones reflect the luxury of this park starting at $60.00 up to $80.00 per nite for ocean view sites. The manager is right on top of things and is determined to make this park the best on the west coast. We have been using the park for 30 yrs and it is a delight to see that true advantage has been taken of the spectacular site. Within walking distance along the ocean into downtown Victoria - about a 45 minute walk. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.

Everything downtown Victoria has to offer is within 45 minutes walking. Spinnakers Pub is a nice stroll along the ocean. Necessary to drive to several grocery stores.

We have been at the resort for 5 months and we have been so happy and comfortable. The sites are spacious and the location is prime. One hour on a beautiful boardwalk takes you right into the heart of the city. Very special. The view of the harbor and city lights at night are spectacular. The Staff is very accommodating and happy to help at any time. Thanks to the owner & staff. The new club house is going to be a real bonus for sure, We look forward to coming back for sure. Hoping to see you in the fall. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Access from the Highway might seem tricky but it's not really. You do drive down some narrow streets and you might think your GPS is mixed up but it is very Big Rig doable and worth the drive. The access has changed slightly thus there is a new address for the park. It is now 445 Head Street. Phone 250 590 5995. Check in was quick and efficient. There is a small store and art gallery incorporated with the office. The on-site restaurant is no longer. The young lady that served us was pleasant and informative. When we arrived, the park had just opened. All of the construction was not complete. Washrooms, showers etc were not open yet. Cable TV was just being installed. This will be a beautiful park. The number of sites has been scaled back to just 36. There is now decent space between guests (for an urban park). The parameter roads are asphalt and easy to maneuver. The pads are Concrete with a Patio area incorporated. The services were nicely located to the left and rear (We had an inside spot 28). The outside (facing the harbor) are nose in spots (more expensive) and designed for Motor Homes. There are no fire pits, Just a table. As before, the views of the harbor and cityscape are beautiful. You will hear urban noise. The odd siren, Sea Planes, Ship Whistles etc but they are part of the ambiance. There are no shops or restaurants within easy walking. Stores etc are about a 10 minute drive away. There is a Grocery deliver service available plus the normal fast food delivery that is standard in most cities. The listed price for an inside spot was $61.00 + tax. We paid $46.95 inc tax because not all facilities were available to us. We feel we paid a fair price and will definitely be back when in the area. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Harbor tours and taxi almost at your doorstep (in season). Very near is the start of the Songhees Walkway. It is a handicap accessible pathway that leads all the way into downtown and on to the Cruise Ship piers. Kayak rentals are near by just past the Float Homes. A visit to Fisherman's Wharf is a must. Really good Fish & Chips.

The park is still closed but we did a walk about to check it out. Wow. Big improvements from the earlier edition. See the pictures. All of the trees have been removed and the park totally updated. The sites are no longer higaldy pigaldy but nicley laid out. The perimiter roads are pave and the sites concrete and grass. Access to the park is new. A much wider road has been added. The restaurant has not been torn down since I suspect it will reopen. I'm betting that it should be up and running in a month. Looking forward to staying here again. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

This is a very tight RV park located in a dense urban area. The perimeter spots have great views of the Inner Harbour of Victoria and the adjacent Marina. Unfortunately, we were stuck in an interior spot with views of our neighbors' RVs. There is no privacy between spots & they are close. There are some full-time units, but everything was well-maintained and bathrooms/laundries were clean. Harbor taxis stop right at the Marina, so it is easy to get downtown. Also, very close to the Black Ball Ferry line. Spots were level & utilities convenient. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Royal BC Museum is great. Drive to Sooke, west of Victoria was beautiful. Traffic in Victoria is terrible - town is growing and construction is everywhere.

Stayed for four nights to play like tourists in the Victoria area. Unfortunately, while we were "on the water" it was overlooking the boat houses, not the harbour. Pretty boring back there when we like watching the harbour activity. Great location in that you can catch the water taxi into downtown or you can access a good walking path into the downtown if you prefer to walk. The best view in the business, we have stayed here winters for several years. The staff is friendly and helpful. Unfortunately this park was built for small units years ago so there is little room for a unit with slides. But if you are looking for a place with a view and close access to the downtown this definitely is your best choice. Location, locAtion location this has it all. Easy 40 minute walk to downtown along sea wall, paved trail. Small campground, sites are close, 30 amp, excellent water pressure, cAble tv, internet available small fee $5 for 3 days, $10 for week. Watch sea planes, ferries, helicopters, leisure boats activity in the harbour. Park seems to have a few full time residents, but clean and organized. Recycle trash. Only 10 minute drive to ferry terminal for port Angeles and Seattle. Beautiful night skyline visible from rv. I'd stay here again. Very popular spot so book early. We have spent the last 6 months here. This park is very convenient to pretty much everywhere in Victoria. It is a very quiet place considering the close proximity to the city. The harbor views are spectacular. The walkway to downtown is almost at your doorstep. The water taxi service is a treat (available only during the summer). A propane delivery service is available upon request. Kayak Rentals, Fishing Charters etc. are available at the Marina which is only steps away. There is no playground and a steep, rocky, embankment to the ocean. Not a good place for kids. We found that, after the transient guests disappeared, the cleanliness of the park improved a lot. Long term guests pick up after their pets and looked after trash a lot better. Long term guests usually just stay for the winter as the climate is very mild. We noted only five units that were year round residents. Some were skirted but none were tacky. There were only a few “winter” guests that let their spaces and units degrade. The park is very safe. These are the good things. What we didn’t like was that services are shared by two sites. This configuration works as long as a motor home and a Trailer share so there was a little more room. Motor homes nosed into their site and trailers backed in. If you are unlucky, then your cables and hoses have to run under your unit. Sites are very close together. This is an older park not designed for today’s units with slides. They can accommodate 45 footers though. The roads are paved but tired. The sites are gravel which is well suited to accommodate the winter rains. Not so nice in the warm weather though. There is no Wi-Fi but internet is available in the Laundry Room and at the on-site restaurant. Cable TV is available but for most channels you will need a box. If you need to depend on the parks bathroom facilities they are limited but clean. Our monthly rate was about $20.00 per night including taxes. We would stay again. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

We stayed here for a month and as previous reviews have stated, this park is getting run down. The washrooms are inadequate for the amount of campers, about 8-10 derelict old units that were full timers. Ocean front sites are nice, but old hookups, cables everywhere and an amazing view. Staff was helpful, but far from friendly. The only thing going for this park is the location. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Motorhome.

Place has gone down hill from the last time we stayed there. The Wi-Fi didn't work at all, they continue to charge to take a short shower and the grounds are run down. Cable TV wires are sitting on top of the ground all over the place. There are more trailers then we ever remember and full time residents. We will really think twice before staying there again. We have been regular guest of West Bay RV for 22 years. It has become so much like home that we have consistently rated it highly. Sadly, as we return it becomes more and more evident that little or nothing has been done to improve this park since our first visit. Yes, they did build a laundry room a couple of years ago, but the washrooms are exactly as they were 20 years ago, and woefully inadequate for the usage they receive. No amount of cleaning can make up for this. Hookups have deteriorated, sites are messy, and there are just enough permanent derelict units to present a tacky appearance. This is a travesty when one considers the location and the view. We have finally reached the point where we no longer look forward to our visits at this park. There are rumors that the park is soon to be closed and perhaps that is why no improvements have been made. Whatever the reason, the current state of the park is lamentable. To top it all off, the staff no longer appear to care much. We camped at Salish Seaside RV Haven (formerly Westbay Marine Village RV Park) in a Travel Trailer.
