Overall Rating:

There was a fast raging river right next to the site which was probably dangerous but neat to listen to. The campground is rustic yet pretty. The restrooms were not very clean and overused. There were a lot of folks from Europe at this campground in rented RV's. I didn't find them to be very friendly and they had very different attitudes about bathroom etiquette and cleanliness. Not a lot of following the "Golden Rule" going on at Kicking Horse. We were smoked like sausages by the folks in the rented RV in the site next to us. The campground filled so we couldn't move, and they wouldn't stop burning smokey wet wood. Cough! We camped at Kicking Horse Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

Get provisions before you get to the National Park (little stores and restaurants are pricey). Visit Emerald Lake and walk the loop. Lake Louise was pretty but very touristy; saw a Clark's Nutcracker in the parking lot. The passes of the Yoho hadn't opened for the season yet, so no fossils for us.

Overall Rating:

Simply an excellent spot in world class scenery. You can't help but lift your eyes at the towering mountains. You have to pay $19 for a National Park entrance fee in addition to the campground fee but we felt it was more than worth it. The town of Field is about 8km away and it is worth a look. The trail up to the Spiral Tunnels is great also. This is dry camping but there is a sani station located on the road into the park. I highly recommend this campsite. We camped at Kicking Horse Campground (Parks Canada) in a Travel Trailer.
