If the tribe would spend just a little of their casino $$$ here, this park could be much better. "East Meadow" roads are all dirt, but have had surface composite added to keep down the slippery mud and ruts. This is appreciated. If in a big rig, watch the tree branches as they seem never to be trimmed, even along roadways. Our rig is a 38' diesel pusher. The park has various sections--inside the security gate & the largest area, mostly filled w/seemingly permanent residents; a vast open field (South Meadow) w/no amenities other than picnic tables & a couple of water faucets; and East Meadow, the full hookup RV camp area. In hot weather the electricity inside the gate is terrible. It surges and drops so dangerously low (101-102VAC) that our built-in SurgeGuard protective device shuts the whole coach down, even w/NO loads running. The electricity in East Meadow is much stronger and seems stable, as it's the newer area. It's the only place that works for us, although we can't use every site. Some are too tight, unlevel, the hookups are in the wrong spot, or trees block our rooftop TV dome. It may sound like we don't like the place, but that's not true if you can accept it for what it is--quiet, rural, open, a bit distant from "city" amenities (Walmart, etc.), but w/a nice casino near. Their shuttle will pick you up from the camp area & bring you home at night. The park staff does a good job with what they have to work with, no complaints there. Rates are quite fair, w/weekly & monthly discounts available. One note--on big holidays they get large groups (RVers, tenters) who party & play music into the night. But that's not a complaint, they're families, well behaved & courteous. Everyone deserves their "down time". We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

This could be a great RV park, but the way it is run and set up now leaves a LOT to be desired! We drive a 45' motorhome and the East Meadow should be able to accommodate us, but getting into this place is almost impossible. Why would you put in a narrow gate and a sharp right turn to get into an RV park? Makes no sense! Also, they need to trim their trees to accommodate tall RV's. We stayed here several days and one morning we woke up to no electricity. We went up to the office and they said "oh yes, it will be out all day...didn't they tell you when you checked in?" uhhhh....no! (and it was almost 90 degrees that day!) fortunately we have a generator, but those who didn't were in for one hot day! Maintenance is at a ZERO. Huge gullies were everywhere on the dirt roads (from not-so-recent rains). It is obvious that they have not done any road maintenance in years! We will NOT be staying here again.

If you have a small trailer or RV and just need a bare bones place to stay for the night, then this place would be OK, as the price is OK, but any rig over 36' should look elsewhere! We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

This is a bare bones RV Park. The only reason we stayed was to attend a nearby family reunion. The only real amenities are the pool and casino. Thye should use some of the gambling profits to turn the Park into a class act. We have paid less per night on this trip and had both cable and good WiFi. I reviewed this park in 2010 and gave it a 3. We enjoyed it more this time and have upped the rating to a 5. Some people will rate this park much higher. Some lower. It is a very quiet park with lots of mature Oak trees. There are nice white ranch type fences. There is a very good view to the west with good sunsets over the mountains. The utilities are very good. But this is also basically a sandy dirt area that is not level. There are also cows and bulls roaming free. Some of the animals have learned to turn the water on. When they do this water can run for a long time as there is nearly no one in this campground. Therefore, there are gullies downhill from the water outlets. And lots of other gullies from natural runoff. The spaces are huge. We stayed here in a group of 10 coaches. We were in the "new" section. It was almost empty. In the "old" section right next to us were about 100 semi permanent RVs. The day that we left one of the semi permanent residents got into an argument with another and then shot gunned the guy he was arguing with. We were not affected by this incident but it was close to where we were. We missed this activity by a couple of hours. It happened in mid day. Right down the street is a HUGE casino. Very modern and very well visited. Good food. We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

We went here with our local RV club. This is an older private RV park that has been bought by the casino down the street. You have to camp here in a group. The park is funky. By that I mean in a state of disrepair. The trash is picked up. The clubhouse was clean. But unless you really want to stay in this area or like going to casinos this is not the best choice for a park. Don't forget this is a group only place. You need to call ahead and you need to be a group. We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

Just a place with full hook ups to spend a night. Funny, the website listed above is by a realtor trying to sell it. The pool was green and hazy. The permanent residents are pretty neat with not a lot of junk around. Gas stations, fast food and a restaurant nearby but no supermarket. Verizon cell and aircard at full strength. We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Travel Trailer.

This is owned and operated by the Viejas Tribe of Native Americans, and is a couple of miles down the road from their ultra modern casino and discount shopping mall. This is an much wilderness as one would want. Although the road is in nicely paved, once inside the "park" it changes to dirt. The spaces, although well marked on the map you are given at the registration/security check, they are obscured by dirt/brush/shrubs in reality. This place is not dirty, but it is not paved or graveled either. We asked about an RV park at the casino, and were referred to a private park (not at all nice) a bit further down the road. But, the folks at the casino "club" desk did not even know about this park. We like more civilized places, but this would appeal to folks, particularly since the competition is so much more money! We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Motorhome.

Ok overnighter close to I5. Previous evaluation mentioned all the amenities. Quiet enough even though close to the highway. Owners friendly and helpful. Would consider this stop in the future if passing through. We camped at MA-TAR-AWA RV Camper Park in a Fifth Wheel.
