This park is rather small but comfortable, safe & well lit at night. There's nothing fancy about it. There isn't any green space or outdoor areas (except next to your trailer), but I had room to have both of my slides out plus my awning. My stay there was very enjoyable & having a camp host living on site is an added bonus. She is extremely helpful, if you need anything. She keeps everything running smoothly & keeps the grounds clean. The only negatives to this park is that there isn't any wi-fi or bathrooms/showers. On Saturdays there is a flea market and the speedway in the evening, so that can get a bit noisy. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

My husband and I have stayed here possibly 20 times over the last 8 years. It is very no frills and basic. Power, water and sewer. It had a very attractive rate of 20 dollars (self registration and pay) and if there was an open space you backed in and enjoyed. We pulled in and now the rate is 30 dollars and there is a camp host. Yet there was a handwritten sign in the window of the camp hosts unit that they were gone for a few days and DO NOT back in or dump (for a fee you can dump your tanks). This was incredibly disheartening. There were open available spaces and the self register kiosk thing was still there. We did not want to break any rules informal or otherwise so we moved on and won't come back. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Travel Trailer.

Yard_itch, manager at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds responded to this review

We have a new CEO at the Fairgrounds, so many changes have taken place. As of 1/01/2015 the daily rate was $25/day or $20/day with the discount. As of 1/01/2017 the daily rate was increased to $30/day or $25/day with Good Sams or Escapees membership which is still in line with this area. We apologize you arrived when we were unavailable. Please note, we do not post handwritten signs and would never post a sign stating we are gone for a few days. When we are unavailable, we do post a sign directing you to the office or to wait for our return before pulling into a space. Another change to be aware of is that we are not open 24/7 any longer. We are open 7 days a week, however, we do not allow any RV or trailer access during the hours of dusk to 8:00 am for the safety and courtesy of existing RV Park guests. We hope you change your mind and try us again should you need an RV space when in this area.

Good in a pinch. On-site camp host available. Safe enough place to leave to go into San Francisco for the day but not someplace to stay for the heck of it. Curious how a county owned facility doesn't have to comply with health and sanitation issues in not having bath facilities available? Wi-fi seems to be worse than previous visits, connections dropped and was unable to access basic e-mail functions. No outside setup, no BBQ grills, chairs, etc. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

We last stayed at this park in 2007, and it hasn't changed. Still no restrooms or showers. On Saturday morning, there was a large flea market adjacent to the park, and on Saturday night the auto races at the adjacent Antioch Speedway would wake the dead--but not us. We like the price here, and the 30 amp power is good. It is still cash only, which you insert in the Iron Ranger at the gate. On the weekend, several rigs pulled in just to dump their tanks for $5. We'll be back here next time we swing through the Antioch area. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This pretty much as advertised. Only no bathrooms. It's a large gravel lot with water, electrical and sewer at the back. All sites are back in but there is plenty of room to maneuver around. You do not need to unhook to get in when the large parking lot is empty if it is full you'd probably better off unhooking a toad. The sites are $20/night (cash only) with a 14 day limit. This is an urban park inside the fairgrounds. There is nothing special about except that it's a very reasonable price and it is in the bay area. Note all sites are first come no reservations. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

Asphalt and hookups. That's it. Nothing fancy, zero amenities, cash only, self-pay station. This is basically a section of the fairgrounds parking lot, with hookups. If you're seeking a low-cost place to park while exploring the Bay area, this is it. If facilities, recreation, a pool or other amenities are on your must-have list, forget it. We woke up one morning to a huge flea market which had appeared overnight on the parking lot next to us. This is largely an industrial area, and not particularly close to shopping, restaurants or tourist areas, but the price is right. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

This park worked well for us for visiting friends in Antioch and the east bay. Contrary to previous posts there are no restroom facilities (including no porta potties). The WiFi is excellent, they have cable hookups but cable TV is not available. The fairgrounds had plenty of things going on while we were here. We will stay here again when in Antioch. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: October, 2007 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We have stayed there several times over the last five years. The have made a couple changes in the last year. First, they have closed the rest rooms and showers. Porta-potties are all that is available. Second, they have re-striped and numbered the sites, so there are now only 18 sites, but they are all wide enough for the largest rigs. The other tenants are mostly working class transients. I have never seen the park host. Aside from the host, they do not allow anybody to stay there longer than 14 days. The hookups are at the rear of the sites, so it takes a lot of sewer hose to reach them if your dump valve in in the middle of the rig, like ours. It's a convenient, inexpensive place to overnight if you are in the Antioch area. The WiFi is excellent. Cash only. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Motorhome.

This is a small, gravel overnight type facility. The restrooms were very clean! Cash only, park and pay. Camp host on duty, but never saw him. There's not much in this area for RV's and this is a good overnight stop or place to park to visit surrounding SF Bay Area. The spaces are VERY narrow, but we fit in with our 36' fifth wheel with three slides. They took our Escapees as a discount and also took Good Sam. Not a destination park, but the fairgrounds was beautifully landscaped. We camped at Contra Costa County Fairgrounds in a Fifth Wheel.
