Tucked in the mountains east of Pismo Beach, this campground has a lot to offer. There's fishing, boat rentals, water slide park, zip line, rope climbing, hiking and swimming. The wild life (deer & turkeys) is everywhere and so tame. We had a great time. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

RV spaces are in loops in the park, many on terraced sites. Our site was fairly level but did have a significant dip at the front which made backing in a challenge. I would say most spaces can be difficult to back into for larger rigs (ours is 40 feet). The roads are narrow and there are large trees throughout the park. Watch out for branches. Sites and roads are paved with grass, weeds and dirt between spaces. Spacing was OK between sites. They only offer 30 amp service with some sites being 20 amp. Lopez lake is fairly low but still offers good boating and fishing. A ropes course and zipline has been added and is very popular on the weekends, as is the park. Park is nicely maintained but a little stressful to get into your space for a larger rig. We had no cellular service with Verizon. Wi-Fi is free at the marina store and we were able to use our satellite dish for TV, but that may not be the case for many sites because of the trees. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Arrived on a Friday evening in late Feb. We stayed at the quail campsites which were primarily for trailers and motor homes. Our campsite was clean and easy to get into. Bathrooms were clean which was great. The lake itself was low thanks to our wonderful drought out here. That said there was plenty to do for kids and adults. Plenty of hiking trails and an adventure park with zip line and other things for kids. Very family friendly and lots of doggies around. If you forgot anything Arroyo Grande is just 20 minutes away. Great value, we will be back. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This is a county recreation area - roads are paved, most sites are fairly level, albeit very close together. We were in Blue Jay 6, plenty long enough for our 36' coach and toad, but the trees made it the hardest back in spot we've been in our RV'ing history. Being July, the parks was full; we could only get one night. Lots of wildlife, too. Scenery was great but the lake is very low. Hiking trails all warn of bears and mountain lions. We saw lots of deer. Extra charge ($3.50 ea.) for our two dachshunds. No over-the-air TV or Verizon. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

We stayed in Blue Jay site 10. The wildlife was phenomenal. When we registered, 5 deer walked in front of the rig. Saw numerous deer and turkey all weekend. The only negatives are the road traffic next to the campsites and a sewer backup that did not allow me to finish dumping my tanks. I think the sewer backup was just due to the volume of people emptying tanks prior to leaving today. We will be going back, hopefully into an odd numbered site in Blue Jay, they are away from the road. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed at Eagle campground site #13. The site was level and fairly easy to back into. We used this campground as a base camp while we attended the Strawberry Festival in Arroyo Grande. The fishing at the lake was good. The marina store stocks just about anything you may have forgot to pack. We will camp here again. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a great place depending on which site you are in. Some bigger areas are overcome with kids and loud music from what we saw. We didn't have a view of the lake but had a nice quite site. It was on a hill but our site was level. A good warm place to stay if the fog is in at Pismo Beach. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

Another all time favorite! Just inland from the ocean. We stay here every year for Scott Tinleys Triathlon. We usually stay 2-3 nights and have a blast. There is a big lake with water sports, mountain biking trails everywhere, hiking trails everywhere, swimming and mustang water slides. Its a great family camping environment. I believe they do have some 50amp hookups, but not sure. If they do, they are limited. Our 5th wheel uses 30 amp so never really was a issue for us. Rates are great, get a reservation as it does get crowded at times. Plenty to do for the whole family. Be sure to talk with the rangers as there are national forests that back onto the property and mountain lions and bears have been seen. There are some really cool boyscout camps on the other side of the lake you can get to by hiking or biking. If you have a mountain bike, take it as the trails there are awesome!! Its a good secret area to visit. Local wineries as well to visit for a quick 10 min drive for wine tasting. Farmers Market in Arroyo Grande is a must, very good for fruits and veggies. Enjoy!! We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Fifth Wheel.

Nice park to use a "home base" for visiting the central coast. The park itself is good, but it's the location & people that makes it worth coming back to. The positives: location (it's a short drive to the Pismo Dunes, SLO, Avila Beach), water slides for the kids in the park, playground, lot's of families, quiet, and tons of wildlife all around the grounds (we had several wild turkeys at our trailer everyday). Negatives: sites is pretty jammed tight, the showers could use more cleaning, speed limits don't seem to be enforced too well, and the swimming area wasn't too attractive. However, this was due to the drought, and I'm sure would be better with more winter rain. All and all, it's a pretty good campsite. We'll be back. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

This park is a great location and has so much to do that is water related! Our group loved the Mustang Water Slides (additional fee) and the nature boat ride. Rangers are friendly and very knowledgeable. Wildlife abounds and our kids got a kick out of the deer that came within feet of our site. The main downside this year is that there is a HUGE yellowjacket bee problem. Many people in our group were stung. This is out of the ordinary and we hope it clears up! We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Great place to camp and take the kids to the Mustang water slides. Pretty lake. Very convenient to stay here and go to the beach also. Saw some great wildlife. I would have given it a 10, but the website says nothing about the $7 reservation fee until you get your bill. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.

Large park with at least 5 campground areas with hookups. Also many other areas where you can dry camp. We stayed in the Quail section which had all backins except for one site that was pull through and accommodated a 40 foot Class A. Our site was not very level nor were most other sites nearby. There is a water slide park close by, but it was closed for the winter. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Motorhome.

The park is very clean and well maintained. The spots are close together when compared to private parks. The section we were in only offered 20 amp service. Also be prepared for no cell phone service. On the other hand, I've never seen so much wildlife so close to camp. There are wonderful open areas between the clusters of sites. The marina is close to most sites and the in park water slide is a great diversion for the kids. We camped at Lopez Lake Recreation Area in a Travel Trailer.
