We had a great time here at Sugar barge. There are a lot of RV sites. There are quite a few permanents here at the park (maybe 15% of those here). But all the sites are very clean. The restaurant is great for lunch or dinner (not open for breakfast). The restaurant is only open May through labor day. They welcome all breeds of dogs! It is a great family park where kids love to ride their bikes and just have a good time. Though there are a lot of great RV parks to explore in California, and we plan to check as many of them out as we would can, this would be a place we would love to come back to. The only draw back is there are mosquitos on occasion and one needs to keep an eye out for foxtails in regards to their dogs. We look forward to returning here in the future. :-) We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The nearest major grocery store is 20 minutes away, so if you don't have a vehicle to run around in, hit the stores before you get into town.

We stayed here with a group of 13 RVs. Very nice and clean, but there was only 30 amp service, it's sad because very few RVs now use 30 amps. The cell service was very poor. And WFI was very slow. The spots are all back I but very roomy I have a 40 ft with 4 slides. Large rec rooms with every thing you need. Staff was very friendly. I wish they had a dog park but lots of area to walk your dogs. Nice pool and play area for kids. The river and Launch ramp are less than 200 yards away. Close i.e. Short drive to Restaurants. For winter time this part is fine but I see a problem in summer with only 30 amps it get very hot out here. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

We were thrilled to find this gem - it's relatively small, VERY quiet and extremely well maintained. Yes, it's only 30 amp, which could be an issue for some during the hot, muggy summer months, but it was a completely non-issue in January. The sites aren't particularly level, either - a walk around the park revealed that many if not most sites - especially those for longer rigs - were high in back and low in front. My front wheels were 3-4" off the ground after leveling. Even so, the spaces are wider than most parks we stay at and plenty long.

The roads in and around the park look tighter than they actually are; we were able to maneuver easily with 43' of rig plus the tow'd. The spaces are grass with a cement patio and picnic table. The ground was firm enough to stabilize our jacks, even after a couple weeks of steady downpours.

So, while it's far from perfect, the customer service we received from everyone we spoke to was outstanding and far outweighed any of the park's shortcomings. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. Boat docks and launches on the delta are just a short walk away, and there's a pretty decent restaurant right on the property that opens for the busy season.

We will stay here again, and I have no problem recommending it to anyone else. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Do yourself a favor and avoid Hwy 4 during rush hours - it's rated as the 3rd worst commute in the entire nation, and for good reason. Also, Vasco Road between Brentwood and Livermore is no picnic either, but time your travels around rush hour and you should be ok. Marsh Creek Road is one alternative getting to the Concord or Walnut Creek areas, but the locals know it well and it can also be slow with traffic during peak times.

Spaces are very close and roads are narrow making it difficult to back into spaces. Staff is friendly and helpful. Bethel Island can be foggy and cool in the winter. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Park is a little tight with its spaces. Our space was just long enough to handle our 40 foot fifth wheel and we had to park our truck next to it, as there is no roadway parking. Backing in was a little bit of a challenge as the interior roads are a little narrow. Many permanent trailers here but generally nicely kept up. Roads are paved, sites are either gravel or grass, fairly level. No 50 amp service, no cable, but free Wi-Fi that is very fast. Many trees around the park so you can get shade, but there ares some sites where you can use your satellite dish, just make sure to ask and check it out (we forgot to do this). OK park is you want to stay in the east bay area of San Francisco. You are a bit of distance from everything but with the BART station 20 miles away you have full access to San Francisco without much of an issue. Based on what is available in the SF area, I think this is a good place to stop. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

This park continues to be nicely maintained. The staff is excellent. This time of year, it is quiet and very pretty with lots of trees and grass. This is a perfect place if you like fishing or golf, both nearby. We stay here almost every spring and will be back in the future. We love the country feel in the middle of a huge metropolis. Stayed here with a group. Excellent kitchen/meeting room facilities. Employees are very friendly, helpful, and attentive. I would recommend this place to all individuals and groups. The only down side is that the sites are not on concrete and 50 amp service is not available. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

We have stayed here before and this park continues to be one of our favorites. It is located on an island with a country feel. You would never guess you are in the middle of a huge metropolis area. The sites have a cement patio slab but you park on grass which can be muddy and soft in rainy weather. No cable TV and okay Wi-Fi. The park is well maintained, but it is the quiet country peacefulness that is it's greatest asset. You should make reservations because it is a popular rally park and will fill up most weekends. We will be back. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

We stayed here with our large RV group (49 rigs). These people run a great park whether you are with a group or by yourself. The staff go to extremes to make sure you are happy with your stay. Great spot and lots to do near and far. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Some sites are nice & big & shady- others like the 3 we had were very tight & no shade. We had a 30 amp site & blew the breaker a number of times. The park was full & lots of power was being used, but it was a problem! Wi-Fi at our site was weak, and you had to "reconnect" every 30 minutes. The worst part of the park is they don't enforce there own rules. Lots of dogs & cats running loose, and noise, parties & loud music till 3 in the morning! My kids almost got in a fight trying to get the partying folks to quite down. We never saw anyone from the staff after 8 PM. We wouldn't stay here again. Stayed here 1 month for $600.00. Nice grassy sites but not are all level. Friendly staff and helpful. This is a beautiful park. Well kept, clean and safe. Has boat launch and rentals. We would stay here again in a flash. Very pleased. Good free WiFi. AT&T cell phone service poor but Verizon works good. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Super nice people. Lovely flat setting near the levee with launching and storage available. Walk to some restaurants (open intermittently). Sunny usually, wide lawns. Great place to walk, bike-levee and level. Blackberries abound. Wonderful RV club place. Some sites in very windy area. Well run and cared for. Clean and safe-locked at night. One of my favorites. We have stayed in this park many times, and sometimes for long stays. It is in a country setting near a river. It is a quiet, well maintained park. We don't use their facilities much but have no complaints. Over the years we have encountered a revolving staff, but never anyone that wasn't helpful or friendly. Free Wi-Fi with good connection. No cable but does pick up channels with antenna. We camped at Sugar Barge Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.
