This is our 13th winter at Big River RV Park. Since becoming snowbirds & annually travelling from our Lake Tahoe home from December thru March, we've visited EVERY RV park on both sides of the River from Lake Havasu to Blythe and this is the ONLY park that has sites that meet our particular preferences. (The place is gated, quiet, peaceful -- as are the owners, managers & fellow guests - & the AT&T phone & Verizon JetPack Internet signals are decent. We like the grass & gravel here, rather than the asphalt & concrete of most other parks & we appreciate the laid-back, friendly & informal "camping" style. AND we can launch our kayak directly from our site across a 30' wide, 100-yard-long grassy beach - nearly vacant all winter! -- directly into the river.) While we found the owners and most of the managers and guests in the last 13 years to be great people, this year, there's a new owner & new managers. We were delayed this winter & only arrived a few days ago, but already, we've noticed several positive changes. The managers are extremely capable & hard-working, take their responsibilities very seriously & the owner has already made several notable improvements: most of the parking pads are now gravel, rather than dirt (which turned to mud after heavy rains in past years) the buildings & fences are all freshly painted & functional, the laundries are both now enclosed, the large area which formerly housed a huge collection of broken, decomposing RV's & other equipment, is now completely cleared & part of it is planned for pickle-ball courts & other amenities. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We were here last winter and this year there is new management. The sites are watered and have beautiful green grass. Each space has lawn that is about 15ft wide and as long as the space is. We are 35 ft and still have room to park in front of the trailer. restrooms are very clean as are the laundry rooms. Beautiful park that we would recommend to anyone. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

Date of Stay: August, 2014 - $34.00
Overall Rating:

Stayed a month for $325.00 not including $0.11/ kwh electricity. Our site was fairly large with an attempt at grass on part of it. Trailer parking pad was almost quicksand, difficult to level (blocks and wheels just sink into the soil). Biggest issue is the WiFi system. You are restricted from any type of download or movie-clip viewing. Have to "sign-in" every morning around 7 am which takes forever. Didn't bother with cable TV because we have good satellite reception. Wildlife is mainly hundreds of blackbirds, some cotton-tail rabbits, bats, and coyotes. Best thing was the 50 amp service afforded. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

20 Miles to a new WalMart in Parker, AZ. Problem is they built the facility about one-third the size it needs to be. Cramped isles, limited choices, and too many patrons. Don't shop there on Wednesdays like we did when everyone gets their Social Security check. What a circus.

Park was dirty, dusty with undrinkable water hook ups. Management won't spend any money to upgrade this park. They cater to the summer people, not the snowbirds. Nothing here to keep people returning except for an overnight stay. Internet is off and on. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: February, 2009 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

This is an older, not very attractive, RV park which consists of dead grass, dirt, and gravel roads. The smell of sewage permeates many areas of the park. Some of the riverside sites are really nice, but most of them and many of the interior sites are rented by people who leave their RV there all year and mostly come to the park on the weekends and in the summer. Many of these RVs are old, in poor repair, and have unsightly storage underneath. The gravel roads create a lot of dust, especially when the full-year renters drive their golf carts, ATVs, and jeeps in and out many times a day. There seems to be an effort to keep the park clean, but the infrastructure does not appear to have been updated in a long time. The park managers are sometimes abrupt and often rude when a problem is brought to their attention. There appears to be a different set of rules for the full-year residents than for others, particularly pertaining to leashing and picking up after pets and quiet hours. On the positive side, we met many friendly people who were spending the winter in the park. The monthly rate does not include electricity, which ran us about $70. WiFi is included in the monthly rate, although it is not always reliable. We would probably not return to this park other than for an occasional overnighter to visit friends. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park at first glance was disappointing in comparison to the website, but we had a great time and the place grew on you. I would come back. The sites were dead grass and dirt, not real level, and we needed an extension on our hose to get to the water hook up. However, on the positive side, the sites are large (both in length and width) and everything worked including the WIFI which is free. I feel the daily and weekly prices are high considering you don’t get a swimming pool or other fancy amenities like some parks at the same price; however, you are right on the Colorado River which probably would be nice in the warmer weather for water sports. What I did like about the park was the friendly people and the “no rule” atmosphere – everything was casual. The park is very quiet and gated for security. There is no road or train noise, just the sound of birds and nature. The restaurants in town are fun. They had plenty of washers and dryers and even clothes lines to hang your clothes out. There was a problem with a sewer smell in several areas. It seemed like management took care of it before we left. The restrooms were clean. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

We stayed in the one rental they have at this park for 2 nights. The location was good, right next to the river and the park itself was very quiet. There was also a lovely gift basket that was waiting for us.Unfortunately, there were three issues pertaining to the rental that gave this park very low marks. First, the rental had cockroaches, very large cockroaches. I understand that any unit being near water might attract them, but I don't want to live, sleep or eat in a rental that has them. Secondly, the box springs on the bed are broken. Even the slightest movement such as turning on your side was met with rather loud creaking noises. The mattress itself was fine, but the box springs were excessively loud. The third and final issue had to due with the smell of sewage inside and around the location of this rental. I don't know where the smell was coming from, but it was strong and really unpleasant. We were told that management has been aware of it for some time, but has not done anything to alleviate the problem. As I stated previously, the rental is in a really nice location, but the three issues are significant enough to ensure we won't be renting the unit again. Also, for some reason this page isn't putting in the nightly rate correctly. It was $100.00 per night (off season). We camped at Big River RV Park in a Campground Cabin.

Overall Rating:

Excellent park on the CA side of the Colorado River just 5 miles from Parker, AZ and plentiful shopping. Friendly staff. Grassy sites. Very quiet park with no road noise. Some water craft but in the summer mostly, pretty quiet now that the water level is down. Like it enough that I paid $270 for a months stay (electricity is extra, about $0.12 per KWH). Owner would allow me to leave for a trip away and return to continue my stay without further charge (at least this time of year, returning in Feb). Grounds are well kept. Facilities are clean and pleasant. Hardly any noxious bugs and there is interesting wildlife wandering through the park occasionally. Very nice park, enjoying my stay very much. Excellent weather this time of year. We camped at Big River RV Park in a Motorhome.
