We were just passing through on our way from San Diego to Reno and needed a spot overnight. We called just before 5 p.m. and the lady who answered was very nice and told us the office would be closed and gave us directions and how to pay in the morning. It was handy and close enough to several restaurants so we could walk and leave the trailer hooked up to the truck. We had good cell phone coverage and even a couple of tv channels on our antenna. It is a large gravel area and easy to back into. It was just far enough from the highway (395) to be quiet. Slept well and would stay there again. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Travel Trailer.

Little has changed since we have been here about 4 years ago except the camping fee has increased significantly and the attitude of the fairgrounds employees has gone down. The web site stated the daily rate is $30 but the actual cost is $35. The fairground employee stated that the $30 was the 2016 price. Hmm, it's been almost 10 months and they still did not get around to modifying their website. This campground is basically a flat graveled lot with FHU. There is a bathroom with showers and WiFi but that's it. Checking around other campgrounds within Bishop I noticed that the fairgrounds rate was at the town's upper limit. Minimum amount of maintenance was done to the bathrooms while we were here. The floor was swept and the garbage was removed. Even less was done to the shower room. Pieces of soap and a discarded shampoo bottle have not been removed in 4 days. The concrete pad leading to the bathrooms still had leaves and dirt after the wind storm 3 days ago. The fairground employees did not bother notifying the campers that there would be a scheduled electrical outage at night. I mentioned this to the employee and basically she could not care. I also mentioned that the interior lights in the campground were not working. Her answer was that they don't keep them on at night. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Fifth Wheel.

We were sure expecting better when we stopped here by the above reviews BUT while the parking area was mostly level and easy to back in (all back ins here), the big downer was the condition of the shower/toilet rooms. Totally filthy! We were 2 days away from the Labor Day events and the rooms were still bad, bad, bad. The floors and walls needed a good scrubbing and not just a damp mop, there were dead bugs and other "dark" materials on the floors. The shower curtains have mold and rust 3/4 of the way up the curtains. The toilets hadn't been cleaned out in a while. The excuse we got was that the holiday crowd had dirtied them up. Was there no servicing during the entire holiday?

This is a quasi governmental entity that runs this place and it seems that it is run as many city run operations elsewhere: "We'll get to it when we can." They don't have "customers" (us), they just have jobs. Sorry to say but I wish it had been better.

Won't be back. Not worth it for the price. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Travel Trailer.

The office is in the red building labeled Tri-County Fair. If you'll be arriving after "normal" office hours or on the weekend, call the office and ask for the codes to the restrooms/showers if you'll need them. The park is big rig friendly. The road leading to the fairgrounds is asphalt, but the sites themselves are dirt/gravel. Ours was level. The woman who checked us in was friendly and provided information about things to do in the area. It was quiet during our stay as there were no events. Sites are back-in and the services are near the back of the site. The water pressure seemed to vary. There isn't any privacy barrier between the sites. It was windy and dusty most days we were there. Verizon data and cell service worked well. The park internet was fast. There were a few OTA channels, but no cable. We would stay again if passing through the area. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

We stayed four nights. Night two they had events that were loud. Night three they had an event and left parking lights on all night -shined into our coach all night. Night four they had an event with loud music all night. Car alarms going off etc. Will never stay here again. A truck stop would have been quieter than this place. We had two full timers on each side of us. Can't think of a reason to ever comeback. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

A great place to stay. Basically a dirt parking lot and pretty dusty, but it's the desert! There were several sites large enough for our 38' motorhome; we were one of the largest in the campground. Strong 50 amp service, water & sewer. Excellent bathrooms and showers; very clean and roomy. The only downside was that there was absolutely no provision to hang anything up, unless you used the handicapped shower.
If you enjoy walking at all you can walk to any number of restaurants and retail stores, typically 3-4 blocks away including Von's (Safeway) grocery and K-Mart. Other campers here were very friendly and it was busy with a couple of 'groups' when we stayed. Office people charming & helpful.
We would be happy to stay here again. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

Bishop is a good place to stay when visiting area attractions. We loved Convict Lake, the Ancient Bristlecone Pines. Those and many other attractions less than hour away. Yosemite (and Mono Lake) maybe 1.5 hours. Very convenient!

This is a decent stop over for a short period. This is the actual RV park at the fairgrounds, NOT where they park RV's for the annual Mule Day celebration. It is a line of FHU sites at the county fairgrounds. Surface is gravel and level. Utilities easily accessible and worked fine. Sites are wide enough to park a vehicle next to your rig if you squeeze a little, but there's no problem parking in front of your rig either. All sites are back ins. The bathhouse is exceptional. Large, bright, modern, and scrupulously clean. The shower had good pressure and plenty of hot water. The wi-fi was a bit spotty, but worked surprisingly well most of the time. Strong Verizon signal. $30 per night seems a bit high for what you get, but this IS California after all! Bishop is a large enough town to have all the necessary services. There are stores and restaurants within about a 10-15 minute walk. There seem to be a lot of long-term residents and even though this is not high season, there were only about 7 sites available when we arrived. It wouldn't be a bad idea to check availability ahead of time, especially if there is an event going on or during the busy season, and/or have an alternative in mind. I would stay here again if in the area. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Truck Camper.

This is a convenient and easy to access campground. Very typical of fairgrounds, it is gravel, but the sites have plenty of room. Each site has a standard with 50, 30, and 20 amp service. There is water and sewer convenient to each site. The rest rooms and showers are clean. Plenty of hot water and the building is heated. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

This park is a hidden jewel for the Bishop area. it is located at the Tri-county fairground. All spaces are back in, so when pulling a toad you will need to unhook prior to pulling into the parking area itself. There is plenty of room to maneuver, hook and unhook. Basically it is a parking lot with full service hookups on a dirt and gravel area. There are lawns in the fairground and that is accessible to the RV park. Few trees to block satellite receivers. Restrooms and showers are new and spotless. Easy walking distance to stores, restaurants and Shutz Bakery. At $25 a night it is a great deal for the traveler or the person who is staying a few days in the area. Not fancy, but plenty or room to maneuver your rig, and the park is very clean. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

Least expensive full hookup park in town. Convenient to town, quiet at night, good Verizon signal. But I would not stay here again, it is nothing but a dirt parking lot. Despite the park being almost empty, two nights in a row the staff put new arrivals right next to us. It seems like it would be a common courtesy to leave space between RV's when a park has dozens of empty spaces. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Fifth Wheel.

This is only the second time I have driven through a campground where I had a paid reservation, looked around for other human beings, and then left because it was so creepy. The few RVs there looked abandoned because no lights were on and no one was sitting or walking around. Could not find a camp host either, and there was no office I could find. (It was late in the day, so people should have been around.) This is basically a parking lot in the fairgrounds and did not look secure or safe enough for me to stay. Yes, it might be cheap, but not worth the low cost to me, especially since I am a female solo traveler. I went to one of their competitors down the road and felt much safer. I will not go here again. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

I reviewed this CG in Nov 2013 and gave it a 9. This time it's an 8 because we're here for Mule Days, a week long town event that attracts upwards of 30,000 attendees, many in RVs. We're in a dry camp area and it's quite pleasant but, and this is a big but, there are only two shower facilities. Of course, we can shower in our rig but that quickly depletes our 35 gal fresh water and fills the holding tanks. To have the "honey wagon" service our rig costs $55 ($20 fresh water, $35 to empty tanks.) Next time, we'll know to reserve a FHU site. To be fair, we should have asked about the water/sewer situation when we made our reservations. The $16 rate is a weekly rate of $115 divided by 7. Big plus for Bishop residents, they're very friendly and welcoming of tourists. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.

We were happy to find this clean in-town site for a quick overnight sleep and a large place to walk our dogs. We came in after the office closed so could not access Wi-Fi but we could have called ahead for the code. Next morning, office staff was very friendly and thanked us for choosing the fairgrounds. Bathrooms and showers were large, spacious, and very clean. We camped at Bishop RV Park (at the Tri-County Fairgrounds) in a Motorhome.
