Location gets 5 stars. I loved being not directly in the middle of Bishop but within a few blocks of Main Street. The campground itself is just ok. Spaces are tight. Hookups are on dirt, dry camping on grass. No sewer but a dump for an extra $5 (did not use). Sites are a little dirty. Not terrible but could be nicer. Someone's dog barked for 2 days straight and staff said nothing. Sprinkler by my site was on when I arrived... assumed it was on a timer but it never turned off so I finally turned it off myself. The mesh nets protecting RVs and people from the golf course don't look like they provide full coverage.... That was a little unnerving. All that said, check in was friendly and the electric and water worked just fine. The little fake Western town at the entrance is cute. If it were cheaper, I'd probably come back but it's just extremely average for the price of $32 and boondocking is probably a better option in Bishop. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Travel Trailer.

I stayed one night while on the way to Yosemite National Park and Mammoth Lakes. It is a nice, shady campground next to a golf course. The staff were friendly and helpful. Bishop is very hot during the summer months and this campground/RV park could use a swimming pool. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

Due to mechanical issues, we spent 4 nights here. Once parked, we were unable to move our 5th because of the repairs being done. There are many good points to this campground. Even though it is right on hwy 395, we found it to be very quiet. We had a pull thru towards the back of the park which was level (no pads under wheels were necessary) & very sufficient for our 40 ft 5th wheel with slides on both sides. The front desk/store personnel were very friendly. The homemade pies & ice cream are both delicious. There is a nice area with a playground. Laundry machines worked & cost in line with other campgrounds. So why only a 3 rating? There is no sewer hookup at sites (remember we were unable to move to use dump site), no cable, no wi-fi, & you cannot get over the air TV either. There is a cost for the showers. Even as paying guests, you have to pay $5 to use the dump site - which is only open when the store is (8 am - 4:30 pm). If we had been there for 1-2 nights, I would have given it a rating of 4. The cons become more of an issue when you start nearing a week. Also, since it was April, area activities were limited. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

Campground is older and not suited for large motorhomes or fifth wheels with slides on both sides; pull-throughs are very tight. Sandy sites, water, power, no sewer. Charges $5 to use dump station! Also, they do not hold spaces. I am familiar with the campground, so requested a spot that I knew was big enough for our motorhome and tow vehicle. Spot was "unavailable" and I was assigned a different space. I walked to the space, determined that it was too tight, noted that the space I requested was empty, and returned to the office. So, even though they "don't hold spaces" they wouldn't assign me the EMPTY spot I was requesting. My persistence resulted in a foul tirade from the female clerk, insulting expletives, and a mutual agreement that we will never return. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This is one of our favorite places along 395 in Eastern CA. I would give it a 10 if it had cable and sewer hookups. Large, shady spaces, clean showers, nice staff, and ice cream after dinner make it a great overnight stop. There is a small restaurant serving pub food, but we have never used it. It's along the highway, but very quiet. That area is very hot, but cools down nicely at night. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Motorhome.

Contrary to other review, toilets and showers were in good shape. Very friendly and responsive hosts..shut the yapping dogs up on request. Some people do not get it... their dogs are a nuisance especially when they leave and dogs remain to bark all day in their rig! Very nicely shaded larger spaces, but some 'hard to get DISH and DIRECT..select the sites along the golf course to get satellite. Pretty quiet for the amount of folks here... reasonable and nice place...would come again. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Let me start by saying I really like this property. The sites are fairly large, grassy, and tree covered. I also like the fact that half the sites have no hookups, thereby attracting lots of tent campers. So you end up with a pleasantly diverse group of campers. It's like a big friendly park. The owners seem to take good care of the lawns, watering frequently. But the facilities are in bad shape. In the last 24 hours, I've witnessed one overflowing toilet, one bathroom stall without a lock, a sink with only a trickle of water, a shower that went back and forth hot and cold. I just don't understand why the owners would let this lovely park deteriorate. I would gladly pay more per night for upgraded facilities. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Very narrow sites, almost like a parking lot. Showers require tokens (not quarters), but office fails to mention that when you check in. OK, for an overnight (water and 30 amp electric only), but a Wal-Mart parking lot or the Paiute Casino provides more space and is cheaper. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Beautiful park. Lots of big shade trees. Nice grassy areas with picnic tables. I was disappointed about the lack of internet or sewer hook ups. The restrooms were clean. Pay showers, 7 minutes for $1. Also had to pay $5 to dump. Excellent cable TV channels, you pay extra for it though. Worth it for us. Would camp here again. It is a nice clean park which we used for only overnight stays to and from Anaheim. A late check-in was available. There are no sewer hookups at site but dump station available. We would stay there again and already did. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Basic. Nothing really special. Has lots of trees, big rocks, and grass everywhere. Tight spots, especially considering the trees and boulders. Of course, the grass areas need to be watered, so beware of "errant rainbirds" interrupting your camping experience, when you least expect it. This is listed as a Good Sam CG, but they wouldn't accept ours, or any other membership, because "of the size of our rig." Despite almost the exact same overall situation a year ago when our GS membership was accepted with the same rig. Hmmmm. I've given them a generous '8' and wouldn't have increased it even if there wasn't the discount problem. I doubt we'll be stopping here again. Park was cute and front desk gal very nice and helpful. We had a good spot with a wide space and grass and trees behind our MH with nice view of golf course and mountains. I would rate this park much higher if they would have just charged a couple dollars more for space instead of charging a dollar for a few minutes of shower and $5.00 to dump. No dump station at site. I hate this extra few bucks for everything. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Motorhome.

We loved this campground! Large grassy sites. great for tents or trailers. There is some traffic noise, but its more like white noise, and will block out the sounds of your fellow snorer. Also the showers and bathrooms were very clean. 1 dollar for 1 token which gives you 7 mins of hot water. Cold shower FREE. had a great stay, we will definitely come back. Very nice and roomy sites but without sewers. Borders a golf course, so you can watch the players progress from hole to hole. Situated on the south side of Bishop several miles from downtown. Our truck was in the shop and we were glad to find that Bishop has a “Call a Ride” service that can pick you up and get you to wherever you want to go for a very small fee. We camped at Brown's Town Campground in a Fifth Wheel.
