Many of the parking sites are not level, so plan accordingly. Part of the campground has full hookups, but we stayed in a section that did not. Our area was less crowded and more scenic, but if it's going to be hot and you want to run an air conditioner, try for the area with hookups. This is a VERY popular campground! But, the restrooms and showers were acceptably clean. The showers take tokens that can be purchased at campground entrance kiosk. Firewood is available for purchase at one of the two camp host sites, #1 & #21, for $6 a bundle. Arrive early or late this time of year (wildflowers in bloom) because it's crazy crowded (traffic!) during the midday. Be aware that each extra vehicle will cost you and additional $10/night. The sites' picnic tables have a pergola covering that helps with the midday sun, but won't stop any rain. The dumps station is nice if you don't have hookups. There are water stations at most sites, but no hose bibs; if you need potable water, there is a threaded hose bib at the dump station. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Bring a tarp or blanket to block the picnic tables' sun during the morning and evening. The showers will run out of hot water during the busy time of day; wait until later. The hike to the oasis is well worth it! Go early to beat the crowds. The panorama hike is also great but a bit more strenuous. The best place to buy supplies is Center Market in Borrego Springs; it's at the back of a small shopping center.

We were lucky to get a one night stay at the peak of spring flowers. Nice spacious sites with full hookups. Easy walk to hiking trails and visitors center. Very close to town. Clean restrooms and nice welcoming rangers. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Motorhome.

What a great campground! We were first a bit taken aback by the total lack of shade (and thus, privacy), but hey it's the desert. What do you expect? Our site was pretty level and easy to access. The campground was quiet, even on a busy week during the spring when everyone was flocking to the park to see the wildflowers. We loved the proximity of this campground to the many great attractions of Anza Borrego and Borrego Springs. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Hike Palm Canyon, walk the nature trail to the visitor center, and head over to the Crazy Coyote for drinks or dinner - all within easy walking distance of the campground. Get up early and enjoy the sunrise, the view from the nature trail is beautiful. If you have a 4WD vehicle, take a drive out to Inspiration Wash to watch the sun set over the desert landscape.

We didn't need to check in when we arrived, but the camp host was very friendly and helpful when we needed firewood. This is a well maintained gem in the Anza Borrego State Park. It's close to the town of Borrego Springs but you wouldn't know it. Amazing views of the mountains and desert make you think you're out in the wilderness. There are a few hiking trails that start right at the edge of the park. We went on a half a mile trail to the top of a small mountain overlooking the park, and a 3 mile hike to an oasis. Both are highly recommended. We even saw some Long Horn Sheep resting. The park visitor center is a very short drive away or you can take a .6 mile trail there. It's well designed and they have some great picnic sites there. As you can see in the photo, the sunrises are incredible. The starry nights are also great for star gazing. One of our favorite parks. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Motorhome.

This was our first time visiting and we could not have been happier. The park rangers were very nice. We enjoyed beautiful sunrise and sunsets, hiking back to the Palm canyon and visiting the Park Museum during our stay. Tips for other Campers:

We drove the surrounding area to locate some of the desert sculptures called Galleta Meadows Sculptures, a map is available on line to assist you. We enjoyed walking around in Borrego Springs shopping at the local grocery store and at Borrego Outfitters a small very nice department store that carries a wide variety of clothes, shoes, gift items and food. It is a nice area for bicyling and an easy walk from the park to town. In the future we look to a return trip to this relaxing state park.

If you like hiking and being fairly close to a small town, this place is great. I chose a no-hookup site toward the back of the park and the particular loop I was in was unfortunately dirt and road pretty narrow. Since my trailer is small I maneuvered it in but next time I may stay in a different area (paved). That said, it's a great desert area and the park is nicely run. Tips for other Campers:

The little town of Borrego Springs (just 3 miles from the campground) had supplies, a library, bike rentals, grocery store and gas. A fun thing to do is obtain a map of the metal sculptures that are placed at various places around town and drive around to view them.

The Palm Canyon Campground is inside Anza-Borrego Desert State Park and only about a mile from the town of Borrego Springs, CA. The RV section has paved driveways and paved sites, widely spaced with 30amp power, water and sewer connections. The sites are fairly un-level but each site includes a fire ring and picnic table. There are restrooms and showers available and hiking trails leading directly from the campground. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Motorhome.

We tried to make online reservations for Borrego Palm Canyon Campground, but all of the hook-up sites at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park have a 35 foot maximum length limit.

The official name is 'Borrego Palm Canyon Campground'. The full hookup sites along the edges (50/51 and 29-24) have the utility hook ups in strange places where your sewer/ water/electric will probably not reach-especially Site 51. The sewer connection was about 35 feet away and uphill from our trailer outlet. Site 50 was closed. The two handicap sites(49&52) along the edge are the best and have the hook ups in a correct position. No pool. Showers are $.50 for 3 minutes. Great views and location. Sites 31-47 are very good sites as well for correct hookups and views. Central Market in town is wonderful for food supplies. Campground was quiet. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed in a full hook-up pull through site. I felt these sites were a little too close. The sites were pretty level, had a picnic table and a fire ring but no shade. There is a paved area for the rv and a very small dirt area with the picnic table. Our site was only 20-25 feet wide which was pretty typical of all the sites. The primitive sites were much roomier. However, this was a very quiet campground and in January, the crowd was of the mature set. The area is beautiful and a great hike to an oasis starts at the edge of the campground. There is also a trail to the visitor center from the campground. You are close to the town, but still feel out and away from civilization. We had a great time going on various hikes. The Palm Oasis and the Slot Canyon being our favorites. I think the campground is managed by volunteers and some were friendly and unfortunately, some were not. There was a lot of them driving around in golf carts and trucks and they loved to remind you of the speed limit and other rules. One of the nights we were there the ranger was having a campfire talk. I didn't know where the group camp fire was located (it's way on the other side of the campground by the primitive sites) so I asked one of the staff in the golf carts and he acted like I was really interrupting his day.

Besides all that, we had a very relaxing weekend and the campground is very clean and quiet. I believe we will definitely return. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed in the dry camp area. Site was OK sized with a nice shaded picnic bench, fire pit, and lots of backyard. Good privacy. Best part was the quietness at night. No noise whatsoever. Sites are fine gravel and level. We used our Verizon MiFi, which worked well. However, before paying $25 a night for dry camping, we will try a boondocking site in the area when we come back to Borrego Springs. This is a great state park. Very quiet desert setting a long way from any significant traffic. We had wind and blowing sand for 2 days and lovely weather for 2 days but that's the luck of the draw on the desert. There are many walks and sights to see nearby. I've been to Borrego many times from 2007-2010. The rates have increased at the park since my last visit, but the park is still as nice as it was years ago. There are full hook up sites and primitive sites throughout the park. It is a quiet family friendly park to be sure. Internet and cellular connections are not the greatest, but given the location visitors should spend more time outside exploring the area. Oh, and the showers now require tokens which is a change from our last visit here. We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Travel Trailer.

We were here April 26, and it was quite hot still. Unfortunately our Rooftop AC decided to fail too. Next year we will try to come in March when they said it is possible to get the wildflowers. The campground is great. Most sites are pull-throughs. Relatively flat too which makes for good bicycle riding for the kids. It said shaded sites are available, but I did not see any unless you count the palm trees. This is typical California High desert. You get a few bushes and cactus and maybe a few palm trees. The visitor center was nice, well done and air conditioned. We didn't get a chance to do any of the hikes. Next time.... We camped at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park - Borrego Palm Canyon Campground in a Motorhome.
