Mar 2015 - $30.00
We were passing through the Brawley area and wanted to check it out, so needed a place to stay. We chose Wiest Lake County Park as there were not many alternatives. It is about 10 miles outside of Brawley and is convenient. The lake is very small. There was no sign at the entrance to the campground. We found it later on the ground with a lot of graffiti. Almost all of the hook-up sites were taken up by what looked to be very long-term stays. Of the few available sites, some had low branches so that we could not get into the site. There are also low branches along the drive coming into the campground. At times, there were very large dogs running around off leash. Right across from the campground is a large cattle feed lot. Right next to the campground is a pasture with sheep. So, you have a lot of opportunity for not very pleasant fragrances. The electrical voltage was low, but not so low as to trip our EMS, so was OK. We had strong Verizon voice and 4G data. There was no listing of rates and no indication of how to pay. One of the residents told us that we were to pay the man that lived in the house on the premises, but we could never locate him despite knocking on the door of the house. As we were getting ready to leave, a truck with Ranger on the side passed by but seemed to ignore us. We tracked him down and he said that we could pay him. For what you get the rate of $30 per night is very high. We stayed only one night, were ready to depart, and would not stay here again. - TheJim

This is a dirt bikers paradise. I wouldn't suggest camping here in a tent due to the noise and winds but, If you like to play in the sand, this is the place for you. - RVParkConnoisseur

The sites are level dirt/gravel. We had to use back-to-back sites as the sites are small. Manager was helpful in accommodating our need for more space and electric for our big rig. There was an airport and train nearby and lots of flies left over from the Fair. Lots of noise from races at the track, so check the schedule if you don't want the noise and dust. There was trash, including cigarette butts, broken beer bottles, etc. and it could be really messy if it rained. We also noticed a natural gas smell. We will not stay here again. - BigRigTravelerUSA

Jan 2017 - $22.00
Very nice military campground with level spacious concrete sites. Located just off I-8. Picnic table but no cable or wi-fi, but our Direct TV and phone hot spot work fine. The base is small but has a commissary, exchange, bowling alley, theater, pool and playground. Very nice office staff that provides a information packet when you check in. Nice dog park with grass! - travelswithpuppies
Mar 2016 - $20.00
We stayed here a month and had mixed emotions about a return visit. The park has three sections; a new, 11-site area with full width concrete pads and landscaping, the older and larger section with much the same features except a small patio, and the "tarmac" or overflow area which is a parking lot with full hookups. The recreation room is serviceable, and the laundry was fairly large and inexpensive ($1). The base facilities are spartan; the exchange is very small and stocks mostly convenience items, and the commissary is very small, but adequate. The base is located eight miles from town and there is very little nearby. No cable and few OTA stations in English, but no trees to block the satellites. WiFi was unusable, but Verizon cell/4G was strong. The quality of our stay was affected by aircraft noise. The runway is close by and jets start flying at 0700 each morning and often fly until 10 PM. The pattern takes the aircraft right over the park, and during night ops it's difficult to hear the TV or have a conversation. Approaching the gate, be aware you'll be stopped while a truck gate to the right is opened. - Meanderman
Jan 2016 - $18.00
Campsites were roomy and everything was kept neat and clean. Laundry was $1 for washer and $1 for dryer. The rec area had plush chairs, loads of books, 2 Tvs, a pool and a ping pong table, and an outside area with barbecue. The on base theater was free and playing current movies. Recent torrential rains (the likes of which the MWR clerk had not seen in the 17 years he's been here) left things very muddy. The sites had concrete pads, patio, and picnic table. All hookups worked fine (including 50 amp service). Wifi was good and the dog park was acceptable. We would definitely come here again. - Melodycthomas

Feb 2017 - $64.00
We rented park model 328 for one week. Unfortunately I was not feeling well for the majority of our stay so I did not bring concerns to managements attention, not that it likely would have made any difference anyway. This rental was a bare bones park model, inadequately equipped. Besides a few mismatched wine glasses, we only had one small juice glass and one larger tumbler glass that's it for glasses. Much worse than being poorly equipped, it was horribly dirty. A quick go over the middle of everything and that was it. The floor was never washed. Every shelf was disgusting, it hadn't been wiped clean in a very, very long time. Fridge was dirty, garbage under the bed, bathroom had a build up of mold and crud around the shower doors, two light fixtures did not work, old furniture etc. They really outdid themselves with the outdoor table, an old wooden cable spool from a construction site. We met friends that rented unit 335 and their unit was quite nice, no comparison to ours. We were upfront when we called to make the reservation that we had plans to bring our RV the following winter and wanted to check out their resort. You'd think they would have made an effort but not the case. When we returned the keys to the office when leaving all they said was thanks for bringing in the keys and then turned away to continue chatting with other employees. Nor were we given any info when checking in. That spoke volumes. The park is nicely treed but the RV sites are quite close. Wifi only available at the office which was very misleading. The snowbirds are as pleasant as anywhere. There were lots of empty site which is another clear indicator of a declining RV Park. There is a par 3 golf course in the center of the park but it too is in rough shape in places. This is our 217 different RV Park we have stayed in so clearly this is not our first rodeo. Needless to stay we're not likely to return. - theswedes
Dec 2016 - $22.00
Its a little hard to rate this park. I stopped here for a week to play golf, and I had a great time at the little golf course. It was really nice not to have to drive anywhere to play. The people in the golf course were fantastic. With that being said, the RV spot itself didn't have much to recommend it. I paid for dry camping at the weekly rate. Had it not been for the golf course, I would never have paid this much for dry camping. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend the park to anyone not wanting to use the golf course. Also, the people in the park office were friendly, but not all on the same page. For instance, they told me I could dump and get water for free if I was staying in the dry camp area, but then they charged my friend $6 for dumping when he left. It was kind of difficult to make the reservation, because the girl was not knowledgeable about the park, and when I arrived, the person on duty made rude comments about the people working on the weekend. Not a lot of professionalism in the office... The area has a fair amount of traffic noise, and several nights, military helicopters hovering overhead for what seemed like hours. I might return here to golf again, but I would never stay here again otherwise. The parking spots are very close together, as noted in earlier reviews, but there were a lot of empty spots. There is a grocery store and home depot within walking distance. Cell service is good. I was able to get the free wifi in my rig with an antenna, and it worked well. - KAP99
Mar 2014 - $45.00
Quite frankly, the only RV parks we've come across which I've found a reason to complain about the site sizes are in California! This is the 2nd one. By the time we pulled our 40' RV into place, put the slides out, parked the tow vehicle, and hauled out our chairs, we had nowhere to put them! We wound up using the empty site next door to us, but we shouldn't have to! The park itself is nicely maintained and has a golf course attached. Considering the size of the park & the number of winter visitors, I was quite surprised to find there wasn't a fitness room. But there are restaurants, a grocery store, and other shopping all within walking distance of the resort. I found this park to be adequate for a night or 2. I personally could not spend the entire winter there in those narrow little sites. I wouldn't recommend this park for long-term stays, but would suggest it for the very short-term traveler. - Kelly S

Feb 2015 - $1.00
We wanted to check out the Salton Sea and visit the Sony Bono Wildlife Refuge, so we chose Red Hill Marina County Park. There are about five miles of fairly rough dirt/gravel road that you use to navigate to the park. We had been told by a Ranger at Wiest Lake County Park, that there would not be anyone around to collect our money until the next day, but that it was OK to move some barricades and go ahead into the campground. When entering the area there is a sign that indicates "camping" to the left and "RV parking" to the right. It turns out that the hook-up campground is to the right. However, we could not make it all of the way to the campground because of low-hanging branches. We did walk down to take a look and found that it was mainly trashed campers. We then went down to the area marked camping and found some old shelters and picnic tables and a flat place to park. We decided to dry camp for the night. The Salton Sea has receded so much that it is now about 200 yards from the boat ramp. Because the Sea is primarily agricultural runoff, it has a powerful stench that is hard to tolerate when the wind is coming off of the lake. The whole area looks pretty trashed with broken up concrete and rebar. It was quiet at night and fairly dark, except for lights from the nearby geothermal power plants. Satellite was not a problem as there are no trees. We had strong Verizon voice and 4G data. It was convenient for visiting the wildlife refuge and it great for birding, but otherwise it is not a very desirable place to stay. I believe the camping rate for dry camping is supposed to be $15 per night, but we never found anyone to pay. We would not stay here again. - TheJim

Jan 2018 - $41.00
Only stayed 1 night while passing through in a 24' travel trailer. Spots are easy to back into. They had Bingo night and it was something fun to do for the evening. Close to military airbase and so there is jet and helicopter noise during the day but jets are fun to watch. It was quiet at night and far enough away from I-8 so no road noise was heard from the interstate.
Nice RV resort with on-site activities and scheduled off-site activities for long-term stays. There is a heated pool and a small lake at the park and a county park right next to the rv resort. - LarrynMary
Nov 2017 - $18.00
My price reflects a month stay. If RV Resort living is your game, this is a great place. The staff have been warm and helpful to us. The amenities are great. The pool and spa is kept clean. They also do a great job of keeping the local riff raff out with a fence and gate. It's also a quiet resort, mostly snow birds from Canada and some year-round residents. We saw very few noisy kids here. Verizon 4G LTE comes in extremely well. The spaces are deep and wide, enough to park your pickup truck side by side with your trailer. Water pressure and 50amp service came in great. Some drawbacks are that they are very strict about limiting dog walking to the South side of the resort. A number of residents spread bird seed which brings in flocks of pigeons, doves, grackles, and other flying-poop machines that leave a mess on your roof. Also, the resort Wi-Fi is limited to one device per space, and if you stream movies on it, they kick you off. But if you can use your cellphone's data plan, you're better off using that. Otherwise, for the low monthly prices, you get friendly staff, lots of peace and quiet, and no fugly neighbors. - RoadPickle
Feb 2017 - $41.00
This place is beautiful. It's a birdwatcher's paradise, first of all. There's a lovely pond (lake?) that the birds all love. The grounds are just so well-maintained, you can tell that all of the longer-term residents here really take pride in this space. It feels like a community neighborhood, and some of the yeards are SO beautifully decorated - I think I took almost as many photos of people's lovely decorations as I did of the birds here. We only stayed one night, but we would definitely stay here again, and for much longer next time - this isn't a place you only want to stay one night in, you want to take time and explore and watch the birds. We were in an overnight site, which was gravel but really level, with a patio and a wonderful view of the sunset. I SO want to come back here and stay longer! The people were really friendly and there was tons of stuff happening for people to do, as well. - chasmyn

Mar 2018 - $32.00
Rate based on 3 PA days & 7 GS discounts. Very active park with a great all-you-can-eat-Friday fish fry. Very good. Some sites not large enough for large rigs due to trees, but staff quickly gave us a different site. Staff very nice. Cable and very good WiFi are free. Only bad point is, you have to buy a $5 laundry card. I have done this before and you are unable to get money back. Very poor system. Did laundry in town on 12th St. at a great place. - Mainiac
Feb 2018 - $22.00
Nightly rate based on a monthly rate of $650. Note for monthly stays park also charges a $40/mo charge for water and sewer. Sites almost all back-ins which are long enough for 40 foot + RV with parking on the side for car. Roads are good width and even with park models adjacent easy to park RV. Park has free entertainment at the outdoor Portico most nights which includes live bands, Karaoke with people who can really sing, and paid professional musicians. There is also twice a month Information Sessions on what is happening in RV park and guest speakers from the city on events or businesses of interest and Ice Cream Socials. Park has 4 good pickleball courts with good players playing 6 days a week in the mornings. - User1203
