We were on our way west and stopped for fuel at the Morongo Travel Center. We then decided to boondock in their parking lot. The lot is asphalt and relatively level and located at the far back of the casino/hotel. Park perpendicular to the marked parking spaces for an easier level. The experience was much nicer than our previous stays at the casinos in the Indio area, and about 15 degrees cooler for this time of the year. We would have no problem staying here again. The price reflected is actually zero, but of course you don't factor in what's spent at the casino. They also have casino shuttles that occasionally come through the parking lot, but it's not a long walk from the parking lot to the casino and restaurants. This is a big parking lot behind the casino. I followed the signs to "RV Parking" and that isn't the overnight parking. The shuttle van drove up as we pulled in and cheerfully guided us to the correct lot. He told us we could stay as long as five nights. There is a dumpster available. There are train tracks in the area, but far enough away that the trains were barely noticeable. When you sign up for a player's card in the casino, each of you gets a card good for $10 in the casino restaurants. This is a very convenient stopover along I-10 just west of Palm Springs.
