Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $55.00
Overall Rating:

Rate based upon $1650 monthly charge. Previous stays with park full. This time lots of empty spaces. Might be constant rain or perhaps new higher rate? Nice well kept park, all paved with tight spots. Good family park with smooth paved roads for children to skateboard or bicycle. Pick up baseball or soccer games on streets most of the time. Nice looking pool and hot tub but full of children. Tried the hot tub during designated adult only times but too many splashing kids. Asked the office about adult only but was told facilities were for all guests and if residents were Ok with their children practicing cannon balls into the hot tub the park would not deny them. Great Laundry room kept very clean but two concerns. Too small for all the rv park and 90% of the marina. Always had to wait for machines. A number or residents brought pets to do laundry. Hard not to trip over dogs in laundry room. Park cleaning staff had to jump over leashes to sweep around dogs sleeping on floor. Quite a number of stray cats make the park their home. Other than a few annoyances, still a good, albeit pricey, park I'd likely return to. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: January, 2017 - $85.00
Overall Rating:

Beautiful campground in good location located right on San Diego bay. The campground is well maintained and immaculate. Restaurant in the marina is a short walk and pretty good. Pool is nice, but probably not "resort" quality (or size). Sites are paved and level, but very short. Site are also narrow, with barely enough space to get slides out and awning. Hedges between sites help with the cramped feeling, but it is a tight park. Streets are narrow, and with the short sites parking can be somewhat challenging in the back-in sites. Parking for vehicle is also tight and many hang out a bit into the street. Wifi is disappointing, useful for about 20 minutes a day otherwise forget it. AT&T and Verizon are weak here too, so data overall is a challenge. Exercise room is ok for cardio but weight equipment is very limited. Bottom line is that this is a very nice campground in a great location that uses its location and not its amenities to justify its premium pricing. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Very nice park, very clean and well landscaped.

Very expensive but about average for the area.

Not enough room to park our toad so had to use 'guest' parking. Wasn't that far away, but felt there should have been enough room for the toad, especially at that price. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed at this park for 6 days, our site backed up to the beach, park. There was a fence that separated us from the beach but the view was great. If I stay again we will pull in forward for the view. The spaces are wide plenty of space for our slides (4) and still had plenty of room out side. Each space was very clean. One of the nicest parks we have stayed in. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stay here anytime we are in the San Diego area. This location has always been clean which includes the bath and showers area. They had a small band that played a variety of songs. They also had a small bar that had reasonable priced wine and beer. We will stay here again. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed five days. The park is divided into three priced sites with the "bayview" sites the most expensive. They back up to a park which backs up to a bay and marina. Unfortunately, the sites are back in so you don't see the bay from the front of your rig. The park is very loud on the weekends with music piped from park visitors.

The best sites are the medium priced with the exception of sites 56-60 as they back up to a quieter area of the park. The medium priced sites are the largest and all sites have a hedge which helps the privacy issue.

Nice pool area with restricted hours for adults and children, and a nice store and reasonably priced laundry. Three restroom/shower houses which are clean and well equipped as long as you're an average sized person. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We drove to LEGOLAND, and SeaWorld and the beaches were a short drive. We visited two beaches, Paradise Beach in Carlsbad and Coronado Island Beach which were both very nice.

Short walk to the San Diego trolley which you can take throughout the San Diego area.

Stayed at this park for 2 months while waiting for my job transfer to finally get locked in as we sold our home and was still working in the San Diego area. Park was very clean, in a beautiful area of southern San Diego along the bay. Nearly perfect stay. Sites were a bit crowded and narrow, however, they were level concrete pads. Site would not tolerate my 35 foot 5th wheel and Dually tow vehicle without some creative parking maneuvers, but was adequate. Pet facilities were decent and they even have a dog wash station with proper temperature water plumbed in. The location of the park in general was outstanding and easy to get to from the highway. Seeing the sunsets over the bay was beautiful each evening and the office staff was very pleasant and helpful. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Price reflects Memorial holiday weekend rate. This is what a RV resort should be! The grounds were beautifully maintained and the staff were all friendly. We stayed here for Memorial day weekend. The place was packed! We booked late and ended up with a deluxe interior site. It was really tight and our back window looked right into the back neighbor's patio; we even got to smell their cigarette smoke. Because of the holiday, the campground had extra entertainment and activities. Everything was well-run.

The hookups were towards the back of the site and barely reached the trailer's front hookups (the cable didn't make it-oh well, we got a few OTA channels). We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Travel Trailer.

This is a very nice RV Park near the Bay with great facilities. The only issue I have is that the price is way (way) too high for any RV Park. On top of the high price add $3.00 per night per dog and if you have two little pups (as we do) that can add up.

The place was more than half empty when we arrived and filled to between 2/3 and 3/4 for the weekend (a summer weekend). They would sell more spots during the week if they offered a 20% or so discount and deleted the dog fee (which is kind of ridiculous).

I got the feeling that the staff was happy with the high prices because it reduced their workload. Never saw a manager the 6 days I was there.

Still I will be going back because the weather along the coast is hard to beat and I have relatives in the area. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Cement pad for the RV. They were level. Had a pull-through, and it was long enough for the tow and our car. Hook-up worked well. Close to the Marina and park. Some people in other reviews talked about the noise from the park (public) but we did not hear any.

Close together but you are here to sightsee San Diego.

We will be back. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this bay side park several times and enjoyed each stay. The park is very busy this time of year and since a competing park in the area has closed, has become the only park in the area on the water. It appears they are pushing their rates to an all time high. While they can, one has to wonder if they are pricing themselves out of range of many campers. We discovered later they had not given any of several discounts we would have been eligible for, even through we are in their data base. Make sure you ask for any discount at time of check in and don't assume they will offer them.

The park itself is an older park and spaces are close together but separated by shrubbery so helps with privacy. Facilities are well maintained and staff is friendly and helpful. Summer weather is perfect, which accounts for the park being near capacity much of the time. There is a good restaurant within walking distance and a number of other good restaurants in surrounding areas. RV repair and supply locations are also available in Chula Vista with several vendors who will do work at the resort.

A very nice resort with lots to do, but beware, you pay for it! We did enjoy our stay but will have to consider cost before future visits. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

Awesome resort right on the bay overlooking a lovely beach. The office staff and all workers are very helpful and accommodating. The resort is near some wonderful restaurants and has gated security with patrols. Quiet time is respected and the outdoors is enjoyed by all. We had a lovely back in-overlooking the bay. The nightly sunsets were glorious and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We are already planning our next trip back. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

We stayed the month of March. Loved it here except for one thing. The noise...from the Navy helicopters, late night racers on Sandpiper, motorcycles, middle of the night trains blowing their horns and party goers in the park on weekend days...there was more noise here than any place we have ever stayed and not the fault of the park. But, it's the city and we did love it and would return. Just know that this is not always a quiet place. Lovely flowers and beautifully maintained. Lots of grass. With the park next to it this is a great place to bring your dog. Plus happy hours with entertainment and dinners. We met some great people. Right on San Diego bay which was always a very pleasant walk. Marina restaurant is a short walk and has good food and live music. Nutshell - if you want peace and quiet this isn't your place. If you want a great place to stay while you visit San Diego this is it. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort in a Motorhome.

If you have a 45 foot coach and tow, forget this place.

This was designed for 38 foot rvs with no slides. Was very tight and parking was two blocks away from your home. A nice location right on the park bay front. Nice hedges between tight pads, but this takes away from the space with 4 slides and a tow. They should redesign a large part of the park as space was complained by all we met.
