We stayed the month of March. Loved it here except for one thing. The noise...from the Navy helicopters, late night racers on Sandpiper, motorcycles, middle of the night trains blowing their horns and party goers in the park on weekend days...there was more noise here than any place we have ever stayed and not the fault of the park. But, it's the city and we did love it and would return. Just know that this is not always a quiet place. Lovely flowers and beautifully maintained. Lots of grass. With the park next to it this is a great place to bring your dog. Plus happy hours with entertainment and dinners. We met some great people. Right on San Diego bay which was always a very pleasant walk. Marina restaurant is a short walk and has good food and live music. Nutshell - if you want peace and quiet this isn't your place. If you want a great place to stay while you visit San Diego this is it. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Tacos el Gordo is on H St at I-5 and always has a big line. Go a couple miles south to the one on Palm Dr and there isn't a line. Check it out on Yelp.

Don't miss the USS Midway tour. Very interesting and one of a kind.

If you have a 45 foot coach and tow, forget this place.

This was designed for 38 foot rvs with no slides. Was very tight and parking was two blocks away from your home. A nice location right on the park bay front. Nice hedges between tight pads, but this takes away from the space with 4 slides and a tow. They should redesign a large part of the park as space was complained by all we met. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

This park is nicely landscaped, with 4' tall hedges between most sites (the sites are pretty close together, but the hedges help give you some privacy). The pool is medium sized, with nice chairs, loungers and unique wooded 'glide' chairs with tables for 2-4 people.
The location is good, on the Marina and a little less than a 1 mile walk to the San Diego light rail system, which gives you great access to many places in San Diego. We took it to Balboa park, and the Gaslamp district. The RV Park office staff was pleasant and can tell you how to get to various places in town. There was a 'happy hour' party on Friday afternoon that included a good guitarist/singer for a couple of hours. We enjoyed that.

A few negatives: The wifi was pointless - we were disconnected every 5-10 minutes. This was from two different laptops, and from the number of personal hotspots we detected it was obvious everyone else had the same problem.

We paid extra for one of the premium sites at the edge of the park. The good news was that we had a nice view of a park and the marina out the back window of our 5th wheel instead of a neighboring rig. The bad news was that the park/marina has a number of 15' tall, very bright lights that stay on all night, including one right over our site (#60). So our trailer was flooded with light all night - we have black out curtains in our bedroom but the light still came in through the roof vent.
The other issue with the neighboring park is that sometimes public events are held there. In our case a 5k fun run was held on Sunday, April 17th. The run wasn't a problem, but the after-run party at the park meant that the day was spent listening to loud music and public address announcements. Depending how that might affect your enjoyment, you should check the park schedule for similar events. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Price given of $50 includes the electricity cost in the monthly rate. Beautiful park right beside the San Diego Bay Marina. Beautifully landscaped and maintained. Sites are full hookup w/50 amp. WiFi is okay - flaky on weekends and holidays when park is full and many visitors, like most parks. Cable is basic. The Sites are concrete with nice hedges between sites. Wide enough to have slides and awnings out. RV'ers are really fun and friendly. Seems like everyone has at least one dog. Nicely maintained fenced dog runs in the park. It is especially nice to walk the dog in the marina park beside the RV park. Activities in the park seem to be managed by a few of the RV'ers, not the park staff. If you are here on a monthly basis, you pay for your electricity in addition to your space. Electricity for Dec 2015 and Feb/March 2016 ran between $100 and $200 for the month based on our casual polling of the RV'ers. Laundry is large, sunny and very clean with large well maintained washers and dryers. $1.00 for the dryer which is good for a load of towels! And $1.25 per load of wash. The pool and spa are heated salt water so you come out with your skin feeling so soft. The Galley cafe in the marina offers a really nice breakfast and reasonably priced. They have daily lunch/dinner specials and live music on the weekends. We will definitely be back. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Family Pancake House on Broadway. A nice shopping mall on Broadway Great Chinese at Dumpling Inn & Shanghai Saloon
Lots of dog beaches in the area
Balboa Park museums. San Diego Zoo, Wild Animal Park and SeaWorld

All the sites are concrete and the interior roads paved. There is hedging between the sites. Some sites have more hedging than others. As such, the degree of privacy varies site by site. There are several trees throughout the park. We were able to get satellite tv without any problem.
This is a very clean rv park that is well maintained (crews are out & about everyday, including garbage pickup). All the connections (water, sewer, electric) were in good working order. There are three buildings that have restrooms/showers. Although we did use these facilities, we expect that there were clean and well maintained.
There is an outdoor pool, whirlpool, small exercise room, on-site store, and various social activities. . There is a laundry room (that always seemed very busy). Wifi is throughout the park (the code changes every week). There are two gates to gain access to the outside public space and you need to use the code to both enter and exit the rv park.
This rv park is located on San Diego bay. There is a lot to see and do in the area. There is easy access to shopping. The rv park borders a public park area and offers good walking along the marinas and public spaces. We had what was called a 'bay view site', which was a back in site. At the end of our site was a public park. While the rv park cannot be faulted for the noise, know that this is a very busy public park. There were times that sitting outside was not peaceful. As noted, while the rv park cannot do anything about the noise level, we do wish we had been informed about the level of noise we could expect. We would have selected another area of the park if knowing how noisy it got on a daily basis. In speaking with the office staff, their only comment was "some people like those sites and some people do not".
There are two dedicated dog areas, but these are extremely small - use the outside public areas for dog walking. The best pet friendliness thing: the dog wash station, and yes, it has warm water! We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

This park has a beautiful setting, walks near the Marina and easy access to I-5 and all the San Diego attractions. However, the park is old and the spaces are close together: many dualies parked in the visitors slots because they won't fit in the assigned slot. Also, their business practices are suspect. When I wanted to stay a month, they tried to charge me for four weeks: $1800/month. That's twice my house payment and although it's California prices, it was unsatisfactory to me, so I opted out. Amenities, swimming pool, great staff attitude, adult activities and neat little grocery store add to the ambiance: but, I'll not return here. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Be careful of the rates.

Very nice RV park. Well maintained and secure. Our two complaints are it didn't seem kid friendly and the "beach." Everything was for the adults. No playground and there were no activities for kids. Also the beach is not a useable beach. It is a dirty beach with broken glass everywhere. Definitely not somewhere you can get in the ocean. It is only good for walking by.

The best parts of this resort were the heated pool, the location, and the beautiful landscaping. It is mostly snowbirds which is fine, but it would have been nice to know before we stayed here. Lesson learned. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

You can easily walk to the trolley station and get anywhere in San Diego.

Such a wonderful place to stay ! We were here for 12 days and loved it. Every employee is a class act, friendly, helpful, professional. Rules are adhered to. Fantastic for dogs! Sites are concrete and there is room for your tow. Great casual restaurant in walking distance. This will definitely be our Southern California RV resort in the future! Great park due to proximity to the marina and marina park. Dog just loved this place too! Extremely clean. Beautiful landscaping. Sites are close together but landscaping divides and gives privacy. Heated pool a plus. We will be back! We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Nice level pads, beautiful pool, bathrooms, laundry, landscaping! You will be hard pressed to find a cleaner park! The sites are narrow and tight, we spent a month here and the rate reflects the discount plus additional electric (metered). It's a beautiful park, but lots of air traffic, every night helicopters fly over again and again. Close to the marina, nice pool and jacuzzi. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Close to San Diego!

We are staying for 4 months. Rate is $1300.00 + elec. so the rate reflects an average for extended stay. Rack rate is higher. We reserved our site in 2015 and have a partially obstructed view of the bay. Bayside sites are higher priced and some perimiter sites are lower priced. This is a RESORT not a campground. Sites are full concrete, big rig friendly, level, hedges between neighboring sites. Dog parks abd dog bathing area. Clubhouse, hot tub, fitness room, very clean restrooms, laundry, propane available and planned activities and it is on San Diego Bay with county park next to resort. Staff execellent. Even with close proximity to I-5, you don't hear highway. Marina next door has nice restaurant.
Good Sam rating is 10-10-9 but it should be 10-10-10. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Close to all San Diego attractions, Tiajuna 7 mi. Light rail 1 mi.

Our stay will be two weeks in total when our time is up. Park is well maintained with much greenery and flowers. Good pool and hot tub setup. Very good get together facilities of which they have regular happy hours and other activities. Amenities all work good as does the wifi setup. (did not use the cable TV outlet due to our own satellite setup) The park is quiet in regards to traffic noise. Far enough away from I-hwy racket. Site size in what they call an "interior deluxe" was just large enough to accommodate our 29' 5'er with truck parked in front. Plenty of room for awning and slide outs. I have two distinct criticisms #1 = the helicopter and jet noise in the afternoon and evening is bearable but for some it's a wicked distraction and this leads to #2 = the cost IMHO is way overboard and please be forewarned if you haven't reserved here like a year in advance forget getting their monthly rate. I had to pay their so called weekly rate and for 2 weeks it ended up being more then their monthly + if you have a dog he will cost you an extra 10 bucks a week + you have to fork over 20 buck deposit per week for electricity. My question at the time was what does my site fees pay for?? Great park to stay at but make sure you bring a good credit card(s) or lots of cash 'cause they sure know how to charge. Would only return if monthly rate is available. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

lots to do in San Diego = self explanatory!!!...

Reflects weekly rate for an interior site. A really clean, nicely-landscaped park with great facilities and lots of activities. A few ridiculous things lowered my overall rating. First, you can make a reservation at one rate, then they'll charge you a higher rate when you arrive. Your choices are to pay it or lose your deposit. Second, there are surcharges for electricity, pets, cars, holidays, extra people, etc. Third, the spaces are too short and too narrow to accommodate most tow/towed vehicles, so many stick out in the street or fill up the limited guest parking (which is also too short for a full-sized truck). The sites are actually quite spacious for a metropolitan park, but landscaping, light posts and permanently installed trash containers reduce the parking area. It's generally quiet, although some mornings Navy jets fly very low overhead. Water pressure can be low. Good Verizon & AT&T signals. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Nice bike trail that leads to the Living Coast Discovery Center about a mile away in one direction, or you can ride it all the way to Coronado in the other direction. (Check Google Maps though, because a few turns aren't obvious.)

The resort is on San Diego Bay and you have a small park between it and the shoreline. A beautiful setting away from the bustle, despite being in the city. There is all night security, a nice touch in any city, but there seemed little need. The staff is friendly and efficient and in general residents are cheerful. The park is well laid out, sites are separated by shrubbery and the common areas are well designed. That said, things are close together, especially sites, and the pool area, clubhouse complex is somewhat small. However, it is a very well maintained park and a very pleasant spot. It was relatively expensive, but reflects its location in an urban area. We plan to stay there again, likely for longer. We camped at Chula Vista RV Resort & Marina in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

The public park by the shore is closed at night, but not enclosed. I would not walk there after dark, despite no issues in the park itself. If you don't mind the walk, the rapid transit (rail) is about a 15 minute walk away. It is cheap and takes you right downtown. Easier than parking, but you do see some characters. You will have to drive for groceries, as there is no close by shopping. Do see Balboa Park, the Zoo, etc.
