Stayed for 10 day to visit family. Most site are used by live ins. Laundry not acceptabe. Was told to go into town. Used the pump man as no sites have sewer. $25, easier than moving to the dump. Over all this is a typical thousand trails park. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

I read the evaluation of other campers and was hesitant to camp at the Thousand Trails....however, they were way off base. Some sites are very cramped, but if you are a Thousand Trails member, there is a section with excellent sites. There are many sites to choose from. Come on Thursday or Sunday late for best selections. Power was 30 amps with no issues. Staff was very friendly and there were several activities for kids and adults (limited mostly to weekend). River was wonderful. I will definitely be returning. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

This is a membership campground and all sites are first come first serve. Although you can book a site to accommodate the size of rig you have, there are no guarantees on check-in. Power is 30A, No sewer hook-ups, the campground is on a hillside in the trees. Roads are narrow and in disrepair. Some sites have no usable space around them. If you just need a place to park it is ok but if you are looking for a place to enjoy your space I would not recommend it. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

Park is old & rough. Roads in disrepair and pot holed, with tight turns for bigger rigs. No sewer and requires restroom use, to avoid overfilling tanks. Restrooms are horrible. Dirty, old, scary 30 amp electric and doesn't work very well. Blows breakers and staff don't care. No pool, lodge or hot tub. No stores close and freeway noise. In Sonoma Wine country is ONLY nice thing to say about here. I would only stop here for overnight, short stay. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

This park needs updates, sites are 30 amp and water, many sites blocked off for electrical problems. It is an older park, most sites are very short and all are too narrow. While they are paved they are on a slope and have no place to sit outside. The park is about 3 miles out of town; a good place for an overnight stay, but not a destination. We planned to stay here for a weekend and ended up leaving Saturday afternoon. The grass/weeds were over grown and every site we tried was over ran with ants. We set our pups kennel on the ground while I set up our tent and it was covered in ants. Moved to another site and same thing. We were also warned that the site was heavy in deer ticks. The river access was horrible and really no where to setup chairs or anything for laying out. Basket ball hoop looked like something out of the movies in a run down area. My popup was bigger then the slab for shooting. No pool or playground at this site. Very disappointing since all the other Thousand Trails are so much better. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Tent Trailer.

We were here in the "Off" and "Rainy" season. Many seasonal run-down units on sites. No 50 amp sites available. No sewer available. Water pressure only 30 PSI so not more than a trickle. This park is in need of some serious work. The people were extremely nice but Thousand Trails needs to get moving on this one. Verizon cell and Internet worked. Campground WiFi was useless. Satellite easy to hook up. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Cloverdale is nearby and has an interesting coffee shop and micro-brewery. Wife went to a beauty shop here and was pleased with services. THe area is remote and pretty quiet. Grocery, fuel and supplies all in Cloverdale.

Wow, not 1000 Trails signature campground. Very aged, horrible roads, sites are uneven. Swarms of bees and the river is a trickle. No pool or any activities for the kids.

No sewer connections at the site, one dump station. Many of the utility boxes broken.

We left early. I would skip until they can put some money into this one. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

Roads are narrow, no pool, kids could not swim in beach, sites were close together, and the washer was broken. Cameras at the entrance of the bathroom positioned so that they could see the reflections from the mirrors. Will not be returning to this site, checked out early. As with many Thousand Trails Campgrounds over the past few years the facilities have declined sharply. There is little restroom clean-up now and the sites that are available are difficult to get into. More and more rental cabins or long-time campers have taken over the sites. It is tricky to find a site if your rig is over 30 feet and in some cases you must back down one-way roads. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

This park is gorgeous with lush treed sites. We got satellite Direct tv perfectly with our dome. The map given to us at the gate shows which sites get satellite. Not big rig friendly as narrow roads, steep up and down hills and many dead end streets so we chose #50 close to the gate and on the main road. Long very narrow paved site but perfect for our 31 ft 5th slides to spread out although no tree cover nor could we put out our awning as that side was on a hill. One of the gate staff was helpful when we experienced a diesel priming issue in our truck. Friendly staff. Lots of wineries, just north of Santa Rosa but we just stayed in the park. Rays grocery great for a small town. Vineyard Church very friendly small group. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Fifth Wheel.

The campground itself is fairly nice. Some sites can be a challenge both parking and leveling wise. Power/ water/sewer all good but watch your voltage on those warm day's. The River, because of the drought, was well below normal and the suggestion was not to go in the water due to algae issues. There area couple of Casino's in the area but nothing special. We were disappointed about the River but can't blame the CG for that. As I recall, Verizon worked well and the Lodge had good Wi-Fi. I think I'd give this place another shot when the River is flowing again(hopefully soon). We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

This campground is in the heart of California wine country. Vineyards, orchards and wineries dot the landscape on the way in on Hwy 101. Arriving late on a Friday afternoon, it was pretty full, but we were still able to secure what we thought was a suitable spot for our 38' coach. Site #2 is high on a hill compared to the others in this section. We had partial shade in the morning and late afternoon. Birds are plentiful, lots of Scrub Jays, woodpeckers, and even a hummingbird. Sites in this park are all 30 AMP electric and water only. Bathrooms/showers are clean and easy to get to. There's some highway noise, but not up close and personal, and I didn't find it annoying at all. We ran into trouble upon departure due to the slope and angle of the site compared to the road, almost requiring a tow truck. For this reason, site #2 is not big rig friendly! Unfortunately, most sites at this park are not suitable for big rigs due to the steep angle between the road and the actual campsite pads. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Don't trust your GPS to find this park. Our neighbors' GPS took them on an adventure they don't want to repeat. It's easy on and easy off Hwy 101 with proper directions from the park ranger.

It was incredibly hot (104) while we were here and we were able to nab the ONLY 50 amp site in the park. Site also had good view of sky so not a problem for satellite. Number of trees means that most people had some shade during the day. Satellite coverage is so-so. This is an older park, so if you are looking for a 5-star resort, this isn't it. Lots of families around - it was Labor Day weekend. For the most part the staff did a very good job of keeping things going well. We camped at Thousand Trails / Russian River Resort in a Motorhome.

We stay here while visiting all of the wineries in the Sonoma Valley so this is really a place for us to sleep and recoup after a day of wine tasting. Try Zuni's for breakfast. Starbucks is in Cloverdale.
