I did not visit the pool or bath facilities. But the overall appearance of the park is very dusty, dirty, and run down. Sites are gravel and narrow with loose fine dusty dirt between them! If the lawn is dead, throw some gravel down! Terrible. This would be a nightmare if it rained. The folks that run the place are extremely nice and helpful. They have work to do to make this $40 per night park. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Fine for an overnight stay along Hwy 5. The pull through sites are level, and just long enough for a Big Rig and tow. No need to unhook. Sites are close together. The spaces between the sites are a disaster. Not only are they dirt, but they are full of ground squirrel holes and bumps. Be careful walking around. The park is about 1/2 full timers and 1/2 transients. The park used to be a better value but prices have been raised and the sites seem to have deteriorated. Since it's one of the few parks in the area, we will stay here again in our Motorhome. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at this park several times over the course of the years as we returned to the Los Angeles area. It is one of the few parks that is within 300 miles of Metropolitan Los Angeles. Possibly due to the continued drought most of the large eucalyptus trees and any of the plants/grass between the sites at the rear of the park have died and all that is left is dirt, weeds and gopher holes. The large almond orchard which used to be directly behind this park has been cut down and is a large dirt field. The sites were long enough for our 39 ft fifth wheel and tow vehicle and there was a layer of large gravel on the mostly level hard packed dirt. The gravel itself is uneven which on some sites could be a problem for traction. The 50 amp service and water were in an older tower but were adequate. OTA stations were easily picked up and both Verizon and AT&T worked well. There are two service stations and a fast food establishment immediately adjacent to the park. The park is easily accessed from the interstate and the interior roads were easy to navigate. Close to the managers home and the park entrance they do have a green area which worked for a quick trip outside for the dogs. The manager's friendly dog was off leash during the during the early morning while we prepared to leave. This is an extremely hot, agricultural area with very little around it. Despite its almost perfect location and easy Interstate access we will not be staying here again until the park is better maintained. Currently, the cost is not commensurate with the condition of the park and its sites. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Easy on/off freeway; Staff was very friendly; 50 amp pull through full hookup gravel site; Big rig friendly; although we just stopped overnight, we still unhooked our toad and went to Harris Ranch restaurant for an awesome prime rib dinner. We also shopped in the store and brought home a bunch of filet mignon steaks. I would definitely come back here. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

An easy place to overnight while traveling I-5. A fairly large park with some longer term folks and several just staying the night. Easy pull through sites but just long enough for our 38' fifth wheel and HDT. The Jeep needed to be parked in the grass/dirt strip between sites. There is little noise from the highway but depending upon your site location you may hear the trucks in the truck stop. Roads are paved and sites are gravel with drainage curbs at the entrance and exit. Verizon 4G and lots of bars. Not a lot of ambiance but a good choice for overnight. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We decided to try a few different RV parks on our way home from Palm Springs this winter. We originally choose this park because we thought we could use Enjoy America part of our RPI membership but you had to stay 2 days to get the discount. We found the sites to be very narrow, I had to get over as far to the right as I could and even then my slides extended into our neighbours' site. The park had experienced a power failure which we were not informed of when we checked in. Fortunately, our neighbour told us and we ended telling our neighbour who also had not been informed when he checked in. It was OK for a night but expensive compared to other parks with as good or better facilities. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Great stop for a 1-night stay. There was a small pool we didn't use. Service was friendly and check-in was easy. There wasn't a lot of noise from I-5, but I woke up in the middle of the night to what I think was a lot of parked truck noise. I closed the windows and went right back to sleep. The gravel sites were fairly level but close enough to each other that our slide would almost touch the person next door if they used their picnic table. I'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

We drove about an hour to see the San Andreas fault near Parkfield, CA. It looked like a small creek but there are signs on each side of a bridge reading "Now leaving the North American (or Pacific) Tectonic Plate."

We needed a place to stop in this area, and found this place. It is OK for an overnight, but this time of the year, it is quite drab. The Restrooms are great. Large and clean and look newly redone. Seems a little over priced, but most places in California are. We would stay here again if needing a place in the Colinga area. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

This is a pretty worn-out looking campground close to the Interstate. It did have a workable wifi connection at our location. We were given bathroom codes, but they were unnecessary since the locks on the men's and women's rooms were broken. It looks like there are long-term folks here. There's not much to recommend this place other than it's a place to spend a night along the highway. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Tent Trailer.

There are not a lot of campgrounds along Interstate 5, between the Bay Area and Los Angeles area; this is one of the few. It is an OK place to spend the night, certainly not a destination campground. It is very close to the Interstate. There is some highway noise, but not too bad for a night. We were assigned a site. There had been rain so lots of standing water and mud in the site, not ideal for setting up. The sites are close and not overly attractive.

The managers/owners are very pleasant and helpful. All utilities were good. WiFi was terrible and not worth getting the code, but our Verizon MiFi worked well. Satellite was not a problem. It is very, very bright at night, with a lot of bright lights, something we hate. Not really the Park's fault, but rigs came in at all hours of the night, making sleeping difficult. If we needed a place to stay in the area, we would stay here again for a night, but would not look forward to it. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sommerville RV Park, manager at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park responded to this review

Thanks for the feedback! I would like to respond to the WiFi problem. We are in the process of setting up new WiFi network using 2 HughesNet broadband accounts with three access points and better router. This should provide better coverage and bandwidth. Our intent is not to provide the speed needed for streaming movies or video, but you should have access to email and general browsing.

We will discuss the elimination of some of our lights or maybe timed; thanks for the suggestion,

I thought the price was steep for what we got. Lots of permanent residents. Pull-throughs are long enough so we didn't have to disconnect. Place was all dirt, no grass (not like photos). Lots of weeds. Didn't use the pool, but it looked well maintained. AC ran 24/7 with no power issues. Convenient location. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Sommerville RV Park, manager at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park responded to this review

Thanks for the review!

The price is pretty competitive if not cheaper than many other campgrounds in the area. Smitty (the manager) tries to get everybody some type of discount to lower the price further.

I'm one those permanent residents; a retired professor teaching at the local college. Most of the others are professionals or seasonal electricians or managers working on the solar fields. Not quite the same permanent resident clientele as other RV parks I have been in.

We stayed here for 2 days. We were in the visiting pull-through sites. They were very long. However, the grass area around the site was totally dirt with numerous groundhog holes which are very dangerous walking around. There is no grass at all due to the water shortage. The picnic table was not useable. The pool, showers, and laundry facilities are excellent. The staff is outstanding and very accommodating. We will stay here again. Sommerville RV Park, manager at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park responded to this review

The multi-year drought has been hard on our grass areas; we have not done a good job of keeping up with irrigation. Now that we have been getting rain, the grass is coming back and we'll be able to keep up with the irrigation.

Please note that the holes are not groundhog holes which very large; these are ground squirrel holes and tunnels which are smaller but still annoying! We are working on it.

How this place can have such a high rating I don't know. This place is a DUMP. Dusty, dirty, old. The only thing nice about this place was the pool, believe it or not.

It was too hot to cook and the only food option was a Baja Fresh you could walk to. Otherwise, it's 10 miles to the nearest food.

For a quick, overnite, in and out, I guess it's doable.

There's a sign over the urinal in the men's room "If you chew tobacco, please don't spit it in the urinal or the sink". I rest my case. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great park for an overnight stay, near a truck stop so you can get supplies easily. It was 100 degrees and our spot didn't have shade which made it difficult to be comfortable. No rugs allowed on the "lawn" which is dead grass littered with rodent holes. Staff was very nice and the host showed us to our spot. I would stay here again. Excellent spot for an overnight stay between Los Angeles and the Bay Area. Older park but well maintained. Long, narrow site but adequate for our purposes. Pool was clean and refreshing after a long hot drive. Rest rooms clean and maintained. Close to the freeway but couldn't hear traffic noise.
