Just needed a place to stay- Paso Robles is crazy $$$. Adds a hour to our run to Morro Bay tomorrow, but well worth it. Simple, night stay...good power & clean bathrooms. For one night it worked well for us. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

We pull a 40 ft fifth wheel. This is a place for a one night stopover. We stopped twice in a 30 day period. The pads are gravel and mostly level. Hookups are fine with two water outlets. The islands between RV sites are dry dirt with some weeds and NUMEROUS gopher/ground squirrel holes. Very unappealing! This place could be so much nicer if it had some grass on the islands...or just filled it in with pea gravel. We would use it again but definitely not for more than a stopover. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

This park is located just off Interstate 5 at the exit for Coalinga, CA, more or less halfway between LA and San Francisco. They have pull through sites with full hook ups (50 amp electric). The driveways are asphalt with fairly narrow gravel site pads, however, there is not much effort being put into maintaining the grounds. There are weeds growing mostly everywhere. There is free WiFi but we found it to be either completely unavailable or of no real use. They have two small swimming pools adjacent to the showers and bathrooms. They get a steady flow of overnight visitors who are traveling on I-5. We paid $40 per night with Good Sam discount. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Just an overnight stop. Gravel sites with no landscaping and it was muddy at the time. Spots are close together...services were adequate. One plus was that it is far enough from I-5 that it was relatively quiet inside the trailer. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Travel Trailer.

We stayed here for two nights on a round trip to and from Gold Country. The park is certainly showing its age and the drought and vigorous gophers (which management is in the process of addressing) have pretty much devastated the landscaping; however, the check in staff was very helpful, the restrooms were clean, there are laundry facilities available and it is the only campground with hook ups in the area if you are traveling on the I 5 freeway between Southern and Northern California. The pull through sites were spacious. Although we didn't have a tow vehicle, we noticed that other campers were able to pull into their sites without having to disconnect. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Thank you for your honest assessment of our park, let me take this time to give an update of the plans to bring this park back up to par. We are currently actively combating the gophers pesky little buggers as they are we are gaining headway on them, As for the sites themselves the plan is to remove the dirt and replace with a better surface material at this time we are unsure what material we will use possibly bark or the new rubber bark though it's expensive we may even use brick for the patios what ever is cost effective and adequate but we would love to hear what your thoughts maybe on a surface material please leave feed back.

I did not visit the pool or bath facilities. But the overall appearance of the park is very dusty, dirty, and run down. Sites are gravel and narrow with loose fine dusty dirt between them! If the lawn is dead, throw some gravel down! Terrible. This would be a nightmare if it rained. The folks that run the place are extremely nice and helpful. They have work to do to make this $40 per night park. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

We are aware of this issue and are going to be working on it hard, the sites will have grass once again we lost the grass due to the draught and an issue with the water district but this has been corrected we will work on the gopher issue before we attempt to bring the grass back we have only been managing this park since July and have been trying to finish some other saftey concerns before we could do this thank you for your post and hope the next time you come through things will have inproved to your satisfaction and perhaps then you can leave a better review for us. We have stayed at this park several times over the course of the years as we returned to the Los Angeles area. It is one of the few parks that is within 300 miles of Metropolitan Los Angeles. Possibly due to the continued drought most of the large eucalyptus trees and any of the plants/grass between the sites at the rear of the park have died and all that is left is dirt, weeds and gopher holes. The large almond orchard which used to be directly behind this park has been cut down and is a large dirt field. The sites were long enough for our 39 ft fifth wheel and tow vehicle and there was a layer of large gravel on the mostly level hard packed dirt. The gravel itself is uneven which on some sites could be a problem for traction. The 50 amp service and water were in an older tower but were adequate. OTA stations were easily picked up and both Verizon and AT&T worked well. There are two service stations and a fast food establishment immediately adjacent to the park. The park is easily accessed from the interstate and the interior roads were easy to navigate. Close to the managers home and the park entrance they do have a green area which worked for a quick trip outside for the dogs. The manager's friendly dog was off leash during the during the early morning while we prepared to leave. This is an extremely hot, agricultural area with very little around it. Despite its almost perfect location and easy Interstate access we will not be staying here again until the park is better maintained. Currently, the cost is not commensurate with the condition of the park and its sites. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

Hello, we took over managing this park in July and you are correct the drought was not kind to usbut we also had an issue with water pumps not working so we could not run the sprinkler system for the sites, we will be correcting this issue as well as other problems in the park but we had some safety issues we needed to address first. We will be tackling the gopher problem first and then will till the ground and plant seed and have a regular watering schedule now that the pumps have been repaired. we are also putting in a off leash dog park so your dogs will have a place they can go and play I hope by the next time you are in the area you can stop by and check on our improvements and they will meet your satisfaction. Fine for an overnight stay along Hwy 5. The pull through sites are level, and just long enough for a Big Rig and tow. No need to unhook. Sites are close together. The spaces between the sites are a disaster. Not only are they dirt, but they are full of ground squirrel holes and bumps. Be careful walking around. The park is about 1/2 full timers and 1/2 transients. The park used to be a better value but prices have been raised and the sites seem to have deteriorated. Since it's one of the few parks in the area, we will stay here again in our Motorhome. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

An easy place to overnight while traveling I-5. A fairly large park with some longer term folks and several just staying the night. Easy pull through sites but just long enough for our 38' fifth wheel and HDT. The Jeep needed to be parked in the grass/dirt strip between sites. There is little noise from the highway but depending upon your site location you may hear the trucks in the truck stop. Roads are paved and sites are gravel with drainage curbs at the entrance and exit. Verizon 4G and lots of bars. Not a lot of ambiance but a good choice for overnight. Easy on/off freeway; Staff was very friendly; 50 amp pull through full hookup gravel site; Big rig friendly; although we just stopped overnight, we still unhooked our toad and went to Harris Ranch restaurant for an awesome prime rib dinner. We also shopped in the store and brought home a bunch of filet mignon steaks. I would definitely come back here. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

Great stop for a 1-night stay. There was a small pool we didn't use. Service was friendly and check-in was easy. There wasn't a lot of noise from I-5, but I woke up in the middle of the night to what I think was a lot of parked truck noise. I closed the windows and went right back to sleep. The gravel sites were fairly level but close enough to each other that our slide would almost touch the person next door if they used their picnic table. I'd definitely stay here again if in the area. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.

We decided to try a few different RV parks on our way home from Palm Springs this winter. We originally choose this park because we thought we could use Enjoy America part of our RPI membership but you had to stay 2 days to get the discount. We found the sites to be very narrow, I had to get over as far to the right as I could and even then my slides extended into our neighbours' site. The park had experienced a power failure which we were not informed of when we checked in. Fortunately, our neighbour told us and we ended telling our neighbour who also had not been informed when he checked in. It was OK for a night but expensive compared to other parks with as good or better facilities. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Fifth Wheel.

We needed a place to stop in this area, and found this place. It is OK for an overnight, but this time of the year, it is quite drab. The Restrooms are great. Large and clean and look newly redone. Seems a little over priced, but most places in California are. We would stay here again if needing a place in the Colinga area. We camped at Sommerville Almond Tree RV Park in a Motorhome.
