This is a former State Park that was taken over by the city of Colusa when it was to be closed by the State a few years ago. Thanks to the city it was saved. We gave it a positive review when we stayed here a few years ago. Some things have changed and not for the positive. One glaring change is the cost to stay. Because of the weather, we chose an electric site rather than dry camping. By chance we chose a site with 50 amps. I was shocked when I went up to pay and saw that the rate was $45 for a 50 amp electric and water-no sewer! That is ridiculous! We had planned on staying four nights, but just stayed two to visit the wildlife refuges in the area. The park is also clearly deteriorating. The camp host was very friendly, but his site, which is the first thing you see when you enter the park, is totally trashed. Also, there is some type of very long-term setup in the dry camping area of the park that is also very trashy. There were lots of feral cats and free-range dogs around. Unfortunately, it no longer had that nice friendly and safe feel to it. For the electric sites, about the longest rig that could get in would be 28 feet. Our Verizon voice and data worked well. We had to use our small portable dish for satellite because of the tree cover. Because of the cost and the feel, we would likely not stay here again. We camped at Colusa-Sacramento River SRA in a Motorhome.

Cute, quaint, quiet, clean, small park. Only about 15 numbered spots, then a parking lot for another 15 or so rigs. Spots are spacious with nice room in between, lots of grass, nice cement table/benches but no fire ring. No big rigs in numbered spots, maybe in parking lot. No hookups, but running water available. Simple potties, no toilet seats, but clean. Great place to pedal around on your bike. Lots of dog walking occurs around park. We camped at Colusa-Sacramento River SRA in a Truck Camper.

Date of Stay: April, 2013 - $26.00

The rate reflects a $2 senior discount. This is a California State Recreation Area now being managed by the city of Colusa. The prior review is unfair since the reviewer did not even stay at the park. There are 15 numbered sites with a rate of $28 per night. However, there is a big parking lot with many sites that are $13 per night. The only differences are grills and picnic tables for the numbered sites. If staying here again, we would probably stay at the unnumbered sites and pay half price. The campground is very nice and very well kept up in this very tidy town of Colusa. You can think of it more like a very nice city park, as that is how it is used by the locals. While staying we were treated to all types of interesting events including the local fire volunteers practicing. If feels very safe with highway patrol, sheriff, and local police coming through quite often. It is fairly quiet but with some highway noise noticeable at night, but not bad. There is a short nature trail but there are miles and miles of levees for hiking or biking. The small town has a decent grocery store. The park has a host that very enthusiastically welcomed us and offered to help. This is a great place to stay while visiting the various wonderful wildlife areas in the area. We found one of the sites with satellite access. Our Verizon cell phone and data card worked well. We would not hesitate to recommend this nice campground and will definitely stay here again. We camped at Colusa-Sacramento River SRA in a Motorhome.
