16 Parks near Cottonwood, California
Jul 2007 - $23.00
Ugh, ugh, ugh. Having stayed here previously we were disappointed to see that this place has really taken a turn for the worse. Many, many full time residents. Obviously there are some issues because the bathrooms were locked with a big old padlock every night. This came as a surprise to us when we tried to use them in the morning. In the women's, one of the two toilets doesn't work and the other one doesn't work very well. The big padlock on the door was also an indication that it might not be very safe to use the bathrooms even when they are open. A Wal-Mart parking lot would be a big improvement over this place. - rfarkle
Nov 2006 - $27.00
We stayed at this RV park a couple of times previously, but this most recent stay was unacceptable. The staff is friendly, but the place is over-priced, not very clean, and has other issues. It had been raining, so the floor in the bathroom was very dirty/muddy. In the women's restroom, there are two toilets, but only one of them flushes properly and the other one has no toilet paper dispenser. When we tried to use the restroom in the morning, both were locked with a large padlock. Nothing was mentioned when we checked in, so we were surprised to find the restrooms unavailable to guests. At $27, the place is far over-priced. We won't stay here again. - rfarkle
Feb 2005 - $23.00
A small park, just off I-5, but not too much traffic noise from freeway. When we arrived, there was a smell of cattle, which disappeared within a couple of hours. The staff is friendly, and there is a small Mexican restaurant on the property. The restaurant isn't gourmet, but it was okay if you're tired of your own cooking. The bathroom and showers were clean, but there was no heat. The laundry room was well maintained, also. Nothing much in the way of amenities, but it was a fine place to stop for the night. - rfarkle
Nov 2015 - $38.00
Very friendly and outgoing managers. They really make you feel welcome here. The park appears to be mostly permanent residents and I believe we were the only overnight guests here. Heavily treed so forget satellite. Very good cable hook up though. Although the park is very close to I-5 we asked to be parked as far away from the highway as possible and they were happy to accommodate us. There is also a nice dog walk area that appeared clean and cared for. - americana
May 2015 - $43.00
Nice park in the trees which was good as it was very windy in May 2105. Showers OK. 30 amp electrical worked but may I suggest an upgrade in the future? On the Sac River and a joy to walk & see it. Great you can arrive without a reservation & check in after hours. Friendly service in the AM. - Saxman
Aug 2014 - $33.00
First let me correct a few things that are stated on the website and their literature that are not true. They no longer have a boat ramp and there are no docks or marina. Totally out of use. I don't know why they don't remove it from their website and take it off their sign out front. Also there is no driving range - unless you call 2 beat up rubber mats and a burnt up field where you hit your own balls and then have to go out and pick them up a driving range. I don't. OK, now we have that fixed this is a nice shady park with pleasant and attentive management. Clean pool and restrooms and good laundry. Next to the highway, but when running the ac you don't hear it. Just 10 minutes to Redding. I would stay here again. - Saddle Tramp 66
Aug 2016 - $46.00
What a beautiful, clean and neat RV park. I am so glad we chose this park. It was easy to navigate in and out. Roads were paved, as well as the sites and we had a large amount of grass at our site. There was a dog park which my dog enjoyed, although it would have been nice for it to be grass. The staff at the office was helpful and they did offer a cash discount. Verizon cell service was good and our air card was a little slow but okay. The park is south of the city but getting into the city was very quick with restaurants and shopping within 1 or 2 exits on the freeway. We wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. - Danni
Aug 2016 - $44.00
This is a very lovely, very clean and well-manicured campground. The staff was wonderful. They have a wide, grassed buffered area between the sites facing the river with picnic tables and a glider where you can sit and enjoy a cup of coffee (morning) or glass of wine (later in the day) and watch the changing surface of the water, birds, including a humming bird, and fish jumping. While it was quite hot during our visit, along the river's edge the temperature was as much as 20 degrees cooler. Highly recommended! - dandd
Aug 2016 - $44.00
We have stay at this park many times and always enjoy it. The driveways and sites are paved and wide with easy access to the sites. All the utilities work well. I have given up on RV park WiFi and just use my AT&T hotspot. The landscaping is excellent. The staff is friendly and helpful. - 2WArvers
Jul 2016 - $46.00
Durango has always been my 'must stay' park when travelling through this area (twice each year). The facility is really top notch. The area has a homeless population and seems a bit rough. Unfortunately, my vehicle was broken into. It is assumed by someone from outside the park during my recent stay, (June 30-July 1). $850 worth of personal items were taken along with passport and other documents. The document bag was hung on the fence the next morning, I had already opted to stay elsewhere. I am very fond of this facility, however, more security is in order. I wasn't offered a refund. I think they can do better. You are on your own if you stay here. I doubt I will return. - spanningtheworld
Jul 2016 - $60.00
We have passed by this park many times before, but decided to stop and stay for a bit. We got a river view back in site. Highly recommend spending the couple of extra dollars for them. The park is super clean and well taken care of. Most of the sites are pull thru's that are at least 70 feet long. This resort has a great pool and one of the best club houses we have seen. The staff here are top notch and super friendly. The only draw back is the highway noise, but after a bit you don't really notice it. Inside your rig you can't hear it. Will highly recommend this park to others in the future and we will be back for sure. - Krash
Jul 2016 - $41.00
Very well kept park with all hookups in excellent condition. They escorted you to your site which is very helpful. Nice staff and helpful. - Donny Mackelprang
Aug 2016 - $32.00
Just an overnight stay but park had nice asphalt roads and good gravel pads. - Bill-1148
Jul 2016 - $27.00
The shade from the trees in this park was so welcome on a hot 100 degree plus day, as was the pool. The managers were helpful and friendly and very busy fixing the RV park up to high standards. We will stay here on our travels in the future! - nn5
Jul 2016 - $32.00
Good/great location and quiet. Park very clean except the tables and planters at sites need attention, water pressure low, power excellent since it was 109 here and you needed A/C. Cable is not worth the time 3 channels, use your antenna. Verizon and Mifi works great. Pool excellent. Office was very nice and helpful. Will come here again. We were here for 4 days. full hook ups in good working order and location to rig was good. - margeandbob
Oct 2015 - $15.00
We arrived at this park and decided not to stay. The roadway in was through a lot of old run down mobile homes. Lots of junk and trash in the yards. Previous posters mentioned the large wide spaces for overnighters but the spaces have shrubs and bushes down the middle so they are not wide. Also noticed several strange smells and odors like cat urine and trash in the air. - mnkcusa
May 2015 - $13.00
This is an older RV park with many full time residents. Our host was very friendly and quite accommodating. The center area of the park is reserved for short term stays with 7 paved "double wide" pull through sites. Asphalt parking was somewhat level and the sites are landscaped with grass and medium size shade trees. He had us park in the 1st site near the clubhouse so we could use the internet with no problems.
Please note when following the signs into the park, don't pull too close to the office when checking in. You will need to make a sharp right turn to get to the pull through area. There are two poles that you need to maneuver in between. It would have been easier if I had known this ahead of time so I could make a wide sweeping turn. (for those who can't back up with a toad like me!)
If your looking for a 5 star gated resort, keep looking. This is a great overnight stay with a Walmart and grocery store a few blocks away. This was probably the cheapest place I have ever stayed at, a super value if you have Passport America. - PacNorwester
Apr 2015 - $13.00
Again, you get what you pay for. The electricity kept going off on my first site, but when I moved to another it was fine. Large sites with shade trees but that's about it. Not particularly well kept park. Probably will look elsewhere next time. - ldukeb
Sep 2015 - $15.00
Stayed two days at this members only ELKs Club. Approximately 8 pull-thrus and eight back-ins. Water, Electric, and Dump Station. Easy access to I-5. The only negative was mentioned in another post. there are lots of ants which will invade your RV is short order. All sites are on gravel. - richdoreen
Aug 2015 - $15.00
Stayed one night while traveling south. Great Lodge. Very friendly. Good meal. RV sites VERY close to I-5 and noisy!! Pull thrus which is nice. Be careful and watch for ANTS.. RV infested with them after first night. Will not stop there again. - Sidewinder
Oct 2012 - $12.00
Pull through sites nearest freeway. Back in sites overlook freshwater bay which goes dry in summer months. Medium amount of noise from freeway even at night. Normal Lodge amenities, bar etc. - Bucky Beaver
Aug 2016 - $24.00
As stated in other reviews, this is basically a very clean parking lot with concrete pads and hookups.
Pluses include: fairly level concrete pad; use of hotel pool, fitness room, and hot tub - ask for "room" key when registering. Electric cart service to and from the casino. Grass areas on the perimeter of the area with grills and tables. Nice river walk accessible across the street from the RV area.
Decent restaurant in the casino; and $10 free play (that includes an extra $5 for staying at the rv park).
Cons include: super bright all night long. Super hot during the day (it was 100+ out) since the RV area is all asphalt and concrete. - Bay Area Early retirees
Jul 2016 - $24.00
Stayed on Saturday night. Park was mostly full. Glad we made a reservation. FWIW, we noticed a couple rigs were parked in sites during day, but not hooked up. They left before dark and the sites were subsequently filled by incoming rigs.
Be wary of the speed bumps, they only partially cover the whole width of the entrance and exit lanes. They can cause a lot of rocking and rolling as you drive to and from the RV parking area. - GerMarV
May 2016 - $25.00
For a stop-over site, or even a several-day stay, this is about as good as it gets. From previous reviews, my primary concern was that this would be an impossible place to sleep due to overhead sodium lights, but it was not nearly as bad as described. And at the time of year we stayed, there was the ever-present sound of frogs at night. I have no idea where the water is, but there has to be a creek or pond bordering the parking lot somewhere.
This place is tiny, and of course it's your basic parking lot (no landscaping), but the hookups are IMMACULATE. All sites are pull-through. Each site offers your choice of 50, 30, or 20 amp service, water, and sewer. There are several dog stations (with bags and trash cans for same) for walking, but there's also a little fenced yard in the corner in case you want to let Fido loose.
And the service! Holy cow. You can easily walk to the casino from the RV lot if you want, but electric carts are ever-available (or if not, just call the phone number they give you, and one will instantly appear). These people are friendly and accommodating. I'm pretty sure the next time we come through, we'll stay more than just one night.
The casino is also smaller than I imagined, but even then, there is a separate, closed-off non-smoking area, although the regular casino wasn't bad at all. I wasn't aware of any smoky haze or smell.
My only ding would be for the "good" restaurant, which wasn't that great. We asked for cheese sauce for the broccoli, for example, and at first they brought us a tiny bit of shredded cheese (?), price extra. When I make it clear my BF wanted actual *sauce*, they brought out... melted Velveeta?? Better they should have just said no. But they tried. Price is excellent, of course (it's a casino), but don't expect first-class food. The trade-off is that you can drink all you want, and not have to drive to get there or back. - Karen On The Road
Jul 2016 - $13.00
Good value with Senior pass. We had a fairly tight pull-through and were barely able to keep our tires on the asphalt. The campground is mostly level, but no effort was made to level out the sites. So they do have some slope to them, but we had no problem getting level. The 50 amp electric was good, we did not use water. No dump station is available here. The bathrooms had a code to access them. The host who we never saw has the code for them. Very quiet and dark at night. Lots of empty spots when we arrived mid-week. Over-the-air TV was OK, we did pick up a few stations. - Bob and Inga
Feb 2016 - $13.00
Stayed again on our way home and will do so in the future.
Where else do you get a paved site with W/E hookup for 12.50$ (after discount for National Park annual pass)? Good privacy too, since the sites are well spaced. We enjoyed the hiking/cycling trails around the campground and the quiet night just a few miles off the I-5. - TheSchweitzers
Jan 2016 - $25.00
This is a Forestry Campsite but has power and water hook ups at some sites. Our fifth is 34 feet. Site 21 was long enough for truck and trailer. Other hookup sites were not. We had puddles outside our door in pouring rain but disappeared quickly when rain stopped. Loved the trail system and open ambiance here. Large grassy area in centre of ring of sites. Showers were hot. - Darleen
Jun 2016 - $12.00
We were surprised to find a beautiful little RV park in the older section of town. Mostly long-term residents, but the park is kept in great condition. The staff and neighbors are welcoming and friendly. Backing in our huge fifth wheel was tricky, and the staff insisted on backing us in. Nice pool and patio area. Washer/dryers are very reasonably priced. Rate listed reflects the monthly rate. We were able to squeeze our dually and another vehicle on the site. - Crazy Suzy
May 2016 - $30.00
We stayed at Green Acres for a couple of weeks while waiting for service on our rig. Mostly long-term residents, very nice people. The owner is an older man who impressed us as a man of principle - he even refunded us 82 cents when he realized he had overcharged us. He and the park host/hostess and our neighbors went out of their way to help and advise us with the issues with our rig. The park itself has sites which are close together but they are nicely landscaped. It's pretty quiet considering its location right next to a major road. The train track is active but we got used to it. The park is an oasis in a rough neighborhood, but we always felt safe there. - MikenTerri
Jan 2016 - $30.00
Very nice place, super clean, well maintained. In town, near several RV Sales/Service/Parts places. Laundry on site, lots of trees. Owner is a top notch guy! - Evenstevens
