Actually made a good base for exploration of Crescent City and the redwood forests. Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Restrooms and showers were very clean and modern. If the roads/sites were paved, or at least more gravel than dirt, I'd rate this as almost perfect. While our neighbors were close on either side, there was sufficient foliage to provide a sense of privacy. Noise, however, was not blocked at all. Thankfully, all observed the quiet hours and we were able to sleep with our windows open. They also have a variety of cabins that seemed nice. Some obviously old, some that are new. It was refreshing to see the staff expending effort to thoroughly clean the cabins near us. We would seriously consider staying in a cabin if we ever come back to this area without our RV. Their 10 acre forest (for tent campers mostly) was actually pretty cool. Be sure to walk through it. There are some massive and interesting redwood trees to see. Would definitely stay here again. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Nice little onsite store with ice, beverages, camping supplies, etc. If you are not in a rush, check out Crescent Seafoods restaurant. Small place withvery fresh and delicious seafood. It can take awhile to get your order, but it was worth the wait for us.

We used this campground while we hiked Redwoods National Park. Crescent City/Redwoods KOA was fine for an "exploration base." I thought it was a bit pricy for our site. Just a typical flat, gravel site. Nothing bad here, just nothing to get excited about. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Overall Rating:

We spent the better part of a week in this campground. Some of the RV sites are kind of standard-KOA: close to your neighbors, pullthru FHU, nothing special. A few of them are quite nice - either in or right next to a woods or forest, with either electric & water or full hookups. The tent sites, some of the cabins, and sites for very small RVs (with no or limited hookups) are to die for, located right in a real redwood forest! This area had been logged previously, but some of the trees now there are very large and tall, and the feeling in those redwood sites is unique, hushed and - sorry about an overused word, but the only term that fits is "awesome." Our site was one of the edge-of-the-woods ones and was delightful, our concrete patio with swing, firepit & table was in the woods. (One problem is, though, kids & some adults tended to think our site was a road or path to the playground...) Office staff were friendly & helpful, and someone on the staff was always around if you needed something. Bathrooms clean, and so was the laundry; both worked well (especially the laundry). Two mornings a week they have a pancake breakfast for a reasonable cost, and the firewood sold in the office is very dry, so it makes a good, relatively smokeless campfire. Good location - along 101 so it was convenient to everything, far enough from town but yet close enough we could get to anything we needed. Price was high, but it's KOA in a prime (and very busy, this year) tourist area. We didn't see any other campgrounds offering hookups that came close to as nice as this park was. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

I said the interior roads were easy to navigate - but that depends. Some of the ones for the tent and redwoods sites were a bit confusing and often so "natural" that it was kind of hard to tell exactly where they went. :) Tip: to avoid urban traffic, take Elk Valley Rd to bypass most of town when going south. And the blackberry cobbler at the Chart House restaurant is superb!

Decided to sit out 3 days of rain and high winds at this KOA in the redwoods. Stocked up at the grocery in Crescent City, this KOA is just north on Hwy 101. We arrived around noon and there was nobody in the office (locked) so we just used a night time check in envelope and took spot 203, which was one of the recommended spots for latecomers. Stuck the envelope in the slot with our card number and they emailed us the receipt. Honored our KOA discount so it came to $121.00 for 3 nights. The sites are gravel and close with a few bushes and trees in between. The bathrooms are very clean and private with individual shower stalls. A space heater hanging from the ceiling was very appreciated. The laundry has 4 nice washers and 6 dryers so it was a great place to get our laundry done. The lady at the desk was very friendly. We mostly stayed inside the RV due to the rain, made soup and planned our next trip.We had power and water hookup. Free wifi was good and 2 bars with ATT. Sites are close and gravel and unpaved. Picnic tables and fire rings at each site but very close together. They had cabins and tent sites in the woods but it was dark and cold in there during this time. Very conveniently located and lots of attractions nearby. They rent bikes near the office and sell firewood and souvenirs and some supplies in the office. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

About what you expect from a KOA. Friendly and efficient staff at check-in. As a previous review states, the RV sites are mostly out in the open while the tent sites are in the forest. Definitely a cooler experience if you're tenting it. We were fortunate to be in site 106 which has the forest in the backyard, so it still felt like we were part of it. Keep in mind this isn't the campground's fault. The forest roads simply don't accommodate anything larger than a car & tent. I can't imagine anyone would provide approval to knock down old-growth forest just to get a bunch of trailers & RV'S in there. Interior roads are narrow but navigable. If someone is using the dump station, it does block the road entirely. We've stayed here before and would stay again. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

Nice, but rustic KOA nestled in the redwoods just off Highway 101. There are many more tent sites and camping cabins than there are rv sites here. The rv sites are out in the open with a little shade while the cabins/tent areas are directly in the forest (with little to no sun). There are about 30 rv sites (mostly pull throughs) which are a mix of FHU and water/electric sites. All sites are comprised of gravel/dirt with a fire ring and picnic table but are fairly close together. We stayed in site A1, a mostly level (but roomy) pull through FHU site. Interior roads are also gravel (i.e. dusty) and a bit on the narrow side, but we managed with our 40' fifth wheel and tow dually. Two sets of bathrooms were cleaned daily and consisted of 3 toilets, 3 showers and 4 sinks per gender. Large laundry on site with 5 washers and 6 dryers. Utilities worked well and Verizon service was very good. Free wifi but we didn't use it. 24 cable channels included in price. The KOA also has a large, open field for soccer, volleyball, tetherball, horseshoes and playground for the kids. Dog park on site and an animal pen with chickens (didn't see other animals). Office is nice with gifts, snacks, rv supplies, beer, juice and other necessities. They also have pedal bike rentals and a rec room with arcade games, foosball and ping pong table. Staff were very friendly and helpful. They have an all you can eat pancake breakfast on Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday for $3.95 per person. Dump station and propane available on site. There were a lot of campers in the park during our stay, but we had no issues with noise during quiet hours. Lots of dust from the gravel roads kicked up from wind, vehicles and the staff golf carts. Sadly, not all dog owners pick up after their dogs, and we had several "presents" left at our site. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would return. Rate is with KOA value card and additional $10 in KOA points used. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

Walmart is 5 miles away in town. There is also a Safeway grocery store. We drove to the B Street pier and lighthouse, but you can only access the lighthouse during low tide (the office has the exact hours of low/high tides posted). We drove Pebble Beach Drive up to Port St. George for jaw-dropping views of the ocean!

Friendly and efficient check-in. Roads are gravel and very dusty. Even when you are going 5MPH you kick-up dust. Brochure states a few times that Quiet hours are enforced. Well, they aren't. My neighbors, a family with 5 kids, sat outside talking, playing music and drinking after 10pm both nights I was there. Not worth the cost. Overall Rating:

This is a pretty average "campground". The roads were gravel. The sites were level and consisted of gravel, dirt and grass. The park sets back far enough that highway noise is not objectionable. The campground has two sections: the open full hookup section near the front, and the very dark, redwood covered section toward the rear. The bathrooms and showers appeared clean. However, the back bathroom had a very strong, offensive, mildew smell. The showers were hot but weak on flow and pressure. If you want to roast hot dogs or smores over a fire, this is your place. The camper next to us tried to burn wet wood all night the first evening. Even though we signed up for four nights at the KOA, we ended up leaving first thing in the morning. There was no problem getting a refund for unused nights. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

Just off the highway but not noisy and is close to Crescent City. Staff was friendly and helpful. Delivered our mail/packages to our trailer. Staff fixed my reservation mistake with no trouble. Park was easy to navigate. Tall hedges between several of the sites providing privacy. The neatest thing about the park was the beautiful redwood grove/tent camping area in the rear of the park. I walked through there everyday. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

I stayed two nights in Crescent City and the Redwoods. First night, I stayed in a campsite; and second night, in a Kabin. I stayed in a tent, so did not require much power. I did use electricity one night for my Volt plug-in hybrid vehicle. The campground itself winds through a stand of redwoods. The staff assisted me in identifying nearby areas where I should hike. While I spent one-third of my three-week trip at dispersed campsites; one-third in primitive Forest Service campgrounds; and one-third at developed, private campgrounds, one of my best experiences was staying at the Crescent City KOA. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Tent.

Tips for other Campers:

Howland Hill Road provides access on a very narrow, twisting, dirt wagon road to the Boy Scout Tree Trail. The harbor area south of town provides a short hike to a peninsula overlook and crab shacks. Traveling south on the 101 next day, I visited Elk Meadow near Orick, California, and watched a herd of grazing elk.

I bought fresh crab at the harbor and melted butter over a pot of meat, eating a pound in two meals. I also enjoyed hikes among the redwoods in Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.

Nice park with trees on one side that blocks our neighbors from us. Sitting area still open to other neighbor. Our site was right in line with the playground and dog walk and we had lots of people that walked right through our sitting area even when we were out there. Informed the staff about this and they just sort of shrugged. Wifi and cable were good. They also provide great information on the nearby activities. This was also the first out of 140 campgrounds that we had to lock everything up as someone entered our truck and cleaned out our toll change, only about $10 but still upsetting. Reported it and the staff said there were 3 other reports the same night. Could have been another camper in the park because the park is kind of far from town. Asked later in the day to different staff and they knew nothing about any break ins. Would think that should be known by all to keep an eye open. Even with this issue we would stay again. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Fifth Wheel.

We stayed one night here on a grassy spot close to the office. It was reasonably level with nice shade. We got satellite signal easily and good Verizon signal. Lots of Info available for self guided driving tours through the forests and various sites. Needed a gasket for our water hose not available in the store but the on site manager somehow found us one somewhere and didn't take any compensation. At the edge of the park is a trail where you can walk right into the Redwoods. Lovely little place. We would definitely stay here again. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Motorhome.

As stated, the RV sites are open. We chose a premium site, as we are very long, and it was great. A concrete patio next to the rig with a fire pit, swing, and table and chairs. The other RV sites were closer together. The tent sites and cabins in the woods were amazing - right in the redwoods. But - no sunlight in there! The laundry was very clean, and reasonably priced. The staff was the most helpful group of people we have encountered in a campground in a long time. They have information on self guided tours, hikes, the parks, and so much more. When we went to the information center in town, and they found out where we were staying, they said they could not tell us much more, and if we had any questions, ask the owners here. They were also helpful in finding things in town, and even delivered our Amazon packages right to our site when they arrived. It's not a huge park, so not too noisy or crowded. We met some nice people here, too. The park is close to the Oregon coast, and the Redwoods, so it's in a perfect place to see both. And with the town only 5 miles away, it is convenient to get groceries and supplies. We camped at Crescent City / Redwoods KOA in a Fifth Wheel.
