Date of Stay: April, 2016 - $30.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed for a week in April 2016 and our price reflects that. There are 4 kinds of sites: back in on the side, long pull-throughs in the middle and either back-in sites on the water for 5th wheels OR pull-in sites on the water for motorhomes. How cool. We had a motorhome site which we pulled into and our view out of the front window was exquisite. How many other RV parks have this option? There are 50A hook-ups, cable and good wi-fi (although there are only about 15 other rigs here using it but the wi-fi towers are throughout the park.) Our site is mostly level, we have a patio pad and the site is mostly small rocks so we aren't dragging in dirt or dust. This is definitely the place to stay in town for the view and the facilities.
Yes, the foghorn sounds every 7 seconds but, remember, it saves lives. It never bothered us. We also enjoyed listening to the sea lions. But the view - awesome. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Lots to do. Learn about the tsunami history: two tsunamis have hit here and the devastation was terrible. People died, homes and businesses were destroyed. Walk the area to see how they have worked to make future tsunamis less damaging.
Walk the beach, tour the lighthouse and the museum. AND hike in the Redwoods. Jedediah Smith SP has several good hikes and the Stout Grove. South to Prairie Creek and hike the many trails there. Try the Fern Canyon trail for an interesting hike.

If you are looking to get out of the dark redwood forest, this is the RV park for you. There is not a single tree in the entire lot. The woman who checked us in said the place has been completely remodeled and reopened last May. You can get a back-in site at the water's edge, otherwise they are all pullthroughs. The roads are gravel and the sites are a gravel pad with a grassy area between. Though it has been raining a lot, there wasn't an overwhelming amount of standing water. Our was mostly level and required only one lego. Each has a concrete patio, but no picnic table. The restrooms were clean, but two of the showers in the women's room were out of order, leaving only one. From speaking with the front desk woman, it didn't sound like that was going to change any time soon. Cell service was good. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

This is an okay place, improved, I understand from other reviews, but way overpriced, at least for winter. They have painted the restrooms, but the showers, which we didn't use, still didn't look inviting. The park is right on the harbour, which is nice, and the distant foghorn didn't bother any of us. They have brand new utility stations and everything worked well, including wifi & cable. The sites are gravel, relatively level, but the place was filled with puddles due to recent rain. The managers were pleasant enough at sign in, but didn't answer their phone the day we were trying to check availability (there was lots). Easy access off Hwy 101. Concrete pads for picnic tables, but there weren't any. So, not much service, basic hookups fine, showers questionable, and no other amenities. Location is great, but it shouldn't cost this much. Disappointed. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: November, 2015 - $36.00

For what California has to offer in the way of oceanfront RV parks, Shoreline is one of the very best we've found. We stayed in 1991 when the park had many trashy looking locals residing. About 10 years ago we checked it out with the dinghy and it had further deteriorated. Having read that major improvements had been made, we revisited. It's great. Mid-November we got a front row pull in site that gave our Class A front window an awesome vista of Crescent City Harbor. Any seasoned Class A traveler will readily acknowledge how rare pull in sites are. A small concrete patio is provided where a DP door would be. Gravel pads provided excellent support for our 37' gasser at a time when the area was saturated with much needed precipitation. The grass between the sites could use some weed killer but looked good. And the view out our front window . . . We've paid 3 times the price for lesser waterfront views on the rare occasion when we could find them. In a separate area (so no dreaded side-by-side hook-ups) towables can be backed into harbor front sites also. The ever present distant foghorn simply added to the coastal ambience for me as did the occasional barking of sea lions. This park is the model the state of California needs to follow with its aging, over-priced, overcrowded beach area RV parks. The city of Eureka is to be commended for providing this well designed facility at a bargain price. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

An added benefit is the access to a bike path at the very entrance of the park. It's a nice ride for the casual rider.

Park is right on the harbor in Crescent City.

Sites are all gravel with cement pad/patio on right side and "grass" around. I think the drought has had an effect - more weeds than grass. But the view across the harbor is great as is sitting on the dike and watching the pelicans frolic. But no picnic table - don't know whether they have been put away for the season or not?

Apparently washrooms in the park are not the park's, they're municipal. Two showers of the 4 are closed, probably due to end of season?! Washrooms are clean, but nothing special.

Wi-Fi is excellent - we were able to Skype with friends and keep our blog updated easily.

We stayed 2 nights. We'd stay here again, but probably not for an extended period - a bit too open for our liking. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Travel Trailer.

Tips for other Campers:

It depends what you are looking for - shopping (Safeway, etc) is only a couple of blocks away, WalMart a little farther.

Just make sure you gas up in Oregon if you are coming from the north - gas in Crescent City is $2.99/gal!

Park was updated in 2015 with new pedestals, gravel pads and driveways. Several WiFi towers throughout the park providing good reception. Grass was planted but is now mostly weeds. Earthen seawall separates park from the bay. Park is clean, staff friendly. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

Tips for other Campers:

Easy walk to Safeway and restaurants. Went to Chart Room and Apple Peddler for dinner. Chart Room is very popular, which means busy. Both are very good. Long walk to light house. Fog horn was going on & off all day & night.

Park appears to have recently been 'rebuilt'. Fresh gravel, power & water systems, small concrete patio pads. Good space between sites but the space is mostly unmowed weeds. Pretty much right on the water but poor water views due to high dike around the park to protect it from the ocean. Good proximity to town and bike path.

Be aware there is a fog horn fairly close that literally blows every 10 seconds ALL the time. The sound intensity varies from faint to headache inducing depending on the wind direction. Ran air conditioner, a fan, and had ear plugs and still could hear it every 10 seconds. I would not go back again. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Wow, looks all new and spiffy! And the lady in the office was pleasant and helpful...great start.

Unfortunately after getting checked in and the RV connected I noticed my site had a lot of goose and seagull droppings on it. Yuk... threw the door mat out when I left.

The hook-ups all worked fine, though the TV channel selection was limited. Their laundromat was a nasty looking place with old worn machines scattered haphazardly. The one down town was good.

Should also mention, for any light sleepers like myself, that this park is right on the town's emergency vehicle response route. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

This park has been completely redone with new WiFi towers throughout the park & also new 30 & 50 amp electrical & water. It has gravel road ways and might have had grass at each site except for the 2015 CA drought restrictions. Elk Creek flows by the park & into the harbor. We liked staying here, my wife liked no big lights at night. We'll be back. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Many shops & restaurants are within walking distance.

We stayed here 15 years ago and it was worn and tired then - it's about the same now except that there seemed to be a lot of permanent dwellers here now. Too bad, because it's a great location right on the harbor. Sites are "old style" (very close together - maybe 20 feet between pedestals) and 30a. Water bibs are in some cases right on the ground - not exactly sanitary (bring the bleach spray bottle!) Was told by the Office lady that the park will be closed in Oct 2014 for several months while they renovate. I hope they do a complete job of it (utilities, etc) because it is past due. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

Narrow sites, no parking for towed cars, very dirty, weeds growing everywhere, sites not level. The whole place needs a serious maintenance program. The office is a disorganized mess. You should verify your reservation dates! We will not return to this park. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.

The reason why I give only a five-rating: Park isn't particularly nice, it looks like a supermarket parking lot with the difference that it's grassy. The only bathrooms are located at the entrance which means the closer you're to the shore, the longer you have to walk there. The showers/restrooms were rather clean, but the hand dryer wasn't working and no paper towels available. Wi-Fi wasn't working anywhere in the park when I've been there and the staff didn't seem to eager to have it fixed. The rate is for a ocean front site. Sites that are further inwards are cheaper. If I stayed there again, I would chose one of those. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Truck Camper.

Big open field with long pull-throughs. As someone said, it is very rustic. There were about 20 RVs here in April, and about half were permanent, mainly in the front area as you enter the park. We stayed on the beach row ,and they let us pull in so we have a view from our rear window. We used the site next to us for hookups which you probably couldn't do in the summer time. Lot of places to walk and a nice lighthouse to visit. It has a laundry room with 3 or 4 washers and dryers. The Chart Room restaurant has the best fried shrimp and fish & chips that I ever had. Don't get the dinner, it costs $10 more and you get plenty in the basket. It is a long walk to it, better off driving. Office personnel were very helpful and friendly. Would stay here again. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Fifth Wheel.

This is one of our favorite stops when we head North or are returning from the North. It is all about location. The sounds alone make it a great experience. It is a bit rustic but that is part of the charm. The Wi-Fi has been improved and we had great hookups while we were there. The row of sites along the beach is our favorite. From here you can hear the seals, the fog horn, the waves breaking, and the sea gulls. There is a long beach to the South suitable for running and hiking. We always come here if we are even close to the area. We camped at Shoreline RV Park & Campground in a Motorhome.
