We paid $50 per night but read reviews that say it was $20+ a night, not sure why we paid more. If we had driven into the park to see the sites, we would not have stayed. The weeds are out of control and the dead trees make you wonder if anything is being done to improve this campground. The sites are all sand with no gravel. The WIFI is all but non existent and hard to get into. We will not stay in this RV park again unless it is improved. This park is also in a city that has one of the highest crime rates in the area and the flimsy gate does not make you feel safe. Having spikes if you come in the exit gate is something we have never encountered before and only made me wonder from the beginning who they were keeping out. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

Date of Stay: March, 2017 - $50.00
Overall Rating:

This park was very nice and well maintained. Understand this park is in the middle of the California desert, grass is in short supply. All sites are tightly packed gravel. I noticed another review the same time we stayed, and I wondered about the dead tree comments. All the trees we noticed were alive and well, and we paid particular notice of them because my husband had to remove a small branch that was rubbing on our unit. The hook-ups are set rather far back, and we had to be close to the one at the end of our site. They are currently working on what appears to be a fenced-in dog run, and it appears that it will be divided for large and small dogs, perhaps? A good idea if so. The mineral spas on the property were clean, quiet and relaxing. Trash receptacles were hard to find, and they definitely need to provide more than were available, we carted out our trash as one couldn't be seen on our way out of the park. We stayed here because we wanted to see the desert flower "super-bloom", and we weren't disappointed. Mentioned this to the gate attendant as we came in, and she was very helpful providing me with suggestions where to go and when to go...(some flowers close up in the mid-day desert heat). Everyone was very nice, and very helpful. Internet is provided by Tangonet, which isn't very wonderful but it worked as well as any camp provider normally does. My tablet, which doesn't have IE explorer or firefox search engine didn't work, but my husband's computer worked fine. It mentions that in the instructions they provide you, but I spent a lot of time trying before I noticed that. The surrounding area is rural, with few activities. No store in camp area, be aware. No fire pits provided, nor do we know if allowed. BBQ's not provided but are allowed. High winds prevented us from using ours, so we cooked in the rig. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

This was our 2nd time to stay here, this time for 2 weeks with one week being PassPt Am. Nice park, clean - even rake the sites between occupants, handles big rigs easily, Several times a week lunches or dinners are offered that we enjoyed a couple times, also ice cream sundaes twice a week all for a modest price. Would pass next time on the cinnamon rolls as they were obviously from a "pop em open" carton. The activities director not only plans the activities but she also leads them, 3 - 4 activities a day; we enjoyed the water aerobics. The hot tubs and mineral water are the draw. Don't let appearance deceive you; the mini golf is very difficult. Bathrooms with showers and laundry in back of park very clean. Showers at pools very hard to regulate temperature. Probably won't stay here again because it is official that it will become a KOA, with some minor improvements but mostly price increases. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Lovely park. Friendly people. We participated in more activities at this park than we have at any other park we have been to in 2 years of full timing. The mineral swimming pool is clean and inviting and does not leave you stinking of chlorine, great for laps. The mineral hot tubs are delightful. Made new friends in the pools. The hosts are friendly, a wide variety of social and physical activities are scheduled every week. There are shuffleboard, horseshoes, pickleball courts and miniature golf. We look forward to going back. The only thing it lacks is a dog park. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Very nice park in a good location. The staff were very friendly. The grounds were well kept. The sites were level and long enough for the 39 foot RV and the toad. Everything worked well. The internet is spotty and there is an additional charge of $2 per day for it. The pool and spas were very nice. The roads are a little bit narrow but doable. The utilities are at the back of the site so you may need extensions for sewer and water. Across the road, there is a great large open area where you can walk your dog or yourself. There are no tables at the site. We would definitely come here again. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Three Jacuzzi style natural mineral pools with temperatures 104, 100, and 96 were just great. All pools and the park itself have been totally refurbished in the past year. Highly recommended. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.

This site had a nice view of the snow covered mountains. In warmer weather we would select a site next to the tree line for shade. Casa Blanca Mexican restaurant in DHS highly recommended. Food was delicious.

We stayed for 2 months that is the $22 a night rate. Staff was wonderful, park has undergone a lot of upgrades. Pool and spas were clean. Not good wifi as you had to pay daily rate, and it was not that good. No cable but over the air is good. Verizon worked great. Power was good, water pressure was good. Sites are either sandy or gravel. Easy to use and good space between sites. News was the park has been sold and may be a KOA. Price was excellent for what is offered. The only pool is good, thermal pools excellent. Park very well maintained for its age. Mini golf is toughest ever encountered and in need of renovation. Only one bath house for 300+ sites. Only 2 toilets in men's room. 2 pool tables are in fair condition. Park shuts down end of April so while we were staying there we no activities. This park is geared for seasonal seniors. Not really family or kid friendly. Staff excellent. Sites mostly level and larger than most, and many are 50 amp. No picnic tables. No store. Only a soda machine. No run down units on premises. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Old park, good for an overnighter, not a stay.

Dirt lots, no patios. Low-class. Lots of coming and going, noisy, no peace.

Inadequate amount of showers and washing machines for the amount of sites. Showers in disrepair, backing up.

Was it not for the discount off the regular rate, it would have been a total rip-off. So with the discount we only paid around $22 which is all the place was worth.

Some very friendly staff, some not so much.

No free wi-fi (seriously????) We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Desert Hot Springs is a high crime area, and this park is hopefully a bit out of the way, so it's worth having to drive to town.

Town itself doesn't offer much, except for some very nice, some not so nice spas with hot springs. But apparently the Desert Pools hot tubs are also mineral water, just getting a chair around the pool is very difficult.

We have stayed there 3 times this winter and it is a wonderful park, everything is very clean and well kept. Most of the staff are work campers and all we have dealt with are very friendly. The staff at Desert Pools were very professional, courteous, helpful, and accommodating. The natural hot springs were refreshing, as was the pool. We have been full timers for a year now. Very friendly staff. Campground was very clean and quiet. Pool area and hot tubs were warm and well maintained. Sites were large gravel areas which were fairly level. Park was not very busy so we had plenty of room. There were a few scheduled weekly activities during our stay.

The park is in a windy location (near a huge wind farm outside of Palm Springs ) So we couldn't put our awning out for fear of the wind.

There are no picnic tables at any of the sites which surprised us.

The wifi costs $2 per day and the staff said it wasn't worth it as it was very unreliable so we went and purchased a hot spot at ATT.

Desert Hot Springs community is quite small so for eating, shopping and entertainment Palm Springs is about 10 miles away. You definitely feel like you are away from the busy areas in the valley which was nice. We camped at Palm Springs / Joshua Tree KOA (formerly Desert Pools RV Resort) in a Fifth Wheel.
