Large RV section with some landscaping. Sites are gravel and require some blocking to level. Pool and hot tub/spa area was great. WiFi was good, bathrooms mediocre. Overall wood return for a relaxing day in hot water. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.Undo

We have stayed at Sam's on several occasions over the last 10 years. Winter guests might call it a destination RV facility, and no doubt many do if one looks at the numerous northerly license plates on RVs. For us, however, Sam's is just an overnight or two-day stay, usually traveling to or from Arizona.
On a positive note, the pool and spa area are superbly maintained. The landscaping in the pool area shows a lot of creativity and desert ambiance. The water is pleasantly warm in the cool months. The four spas have varying temperatures--all quite conducive to relaxation.
The RV spots vary in desirability, however. Some sites are reasonably level for a dirt and gravel park. On our latest stay, the automatic leveling system in my fifth wheel had to go through many iterations to get the job done! Another issue has to do with the declining water pressure at Sam's. Perhaps the overall water table has declined as a result of the California drought. Nevertheless, our Girard tankless water heater had some difficulty just producing hot water within the RV due to low water pressure.
For the most part the staff at Sam's is very welcoming and quite pleasant to deal with, the only exception being a woman who makes it seem like she's doing a major favor to accept your business.
We like the desert area but would recommend Sam's consider upgrading their RV sites as other parks/resorts in the area have done. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.
The desert area can be very windy so bring appropriate clothing.

Stayed in January for four nights. Friendly people at the counter at check-in.
No allocated spots, just go and find a suitable spot yourself. There are different sizes available, so skip the narrow ones. Clean park with many permanent residents in an older part of the park.
Swimming pool area very nice. Good landscaping. Hot pool area (4 pools) outdated, needs an upgrade. Laundry facility perfect and the restrooms are clean.
Park advertises that WiFi is available. That is correct, but WiFi is provided by Tengo Internet (2 days free) and disconnects very often, many times already after a few minutes. In the evening speed is very slow. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.

We used to go here all the time, but this was our first visit back in almost 10 years. Good old Sam's. It has not changed much at all. The hot tubs and the showers have all been redone. Also, they are not as permissive about cigarette smokers as they were, which is a good thing! One of the reasons we stopped going was all the people smoking in the spa area. The hot tubs are great and everyone is very friendly. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Travel Trailer.
This is a great place to sit in hot tubs. They have four - from warm to hot. So, you can go back and forth and stay for hours if you want. The water is lovely - it makes your skin feel so soft - don't shower afterwards.

Sam's is well-known, with locals as well as snowbirds, for being the best kept secret in the Mojave deserts. After day-visits for more than twenty years, I was thrilled to come and camp here for an entire month. True to my memories, the gardened grounds, water features, and mineral pools are immaculate. The park is several miles outside of town, so it could be considered a destination resort-of sorts. Along with park-owned rentals and a motel, there is a small snack and dry goods concession in the office. There is also a big laundromat and three restroom/shower facilities throughout the park. Roughly half the park is occupied by full-time mobile homes, while the other half is set-up for RVs and campers. Of these sites, most are spacious and somewhat level. Sam's is a family-friendly park, so the pools may be crowded on weekends and holidays. But if you are here for a while, there are plenty of other things to do in the Palm Springs area other than vie for a spot in a crowded pool. The only problem I found was in the park's outside services: There is a propane delivery service. But Sam's management has no control over the delivery dates, which are inconsistent. However, there is an RV service station a mile or so down the road that sells LP for a fair price. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Rate paid is based on a one month stay. This is a rustic park, half RV sites, half mobile homes. Sites are fairly close together and are sandy dirt with a concrete patio pad and picnic table. You cannot reserve a specific site, just pick an open site when you arrive then go to the office. Very large and inexpensive laundry onsite. The pool complex is lovely with multiple mineral hot pools and two cooler pools, plus a pretty lagoon and grassy picnic area. Excellent Verizon signal. Did not use the park wifi but heard it was awful. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

Campground is maintained nicely. One section is older mobile homes with the other section being RV sites. We were told to drive around and find our spot then come back and pay. Roads are paved with sites being packed dirt/sand. The sites are fairly level side to side but most sites slope significantly from back to front. For motorhomes I noticed most had two of their wheels at least 6 inches off the ground. There are many palm trees in the RV section but not many other trees to offer any shade. Pool area is very nicely maintained and landscaped. They have 4 mineral pools each at different temps. Wi-Fi is not free. Most sites will handle big rigs but then parking your tow vehicle can be tight. There are a handful of very long sites that would allow parking both easily. You are about 14 miles from the heart of Palm Springs. Park was nice but in my opinion was over priced, however the other parks in the area are the same price. Staff was very friendly. Nice park with a nice view of the mountains. Good level sites with easy utility hookups and good line of sight for a satellite dish. We would stay here again. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.Undo

The good part about this park is the pool area. It has several hot pools and a normal pool. There are ducks and fish in a pond and various birds to look at. It is great for families in that way. The bad is the spaces. They are so narrow and close together that we had to re align several times to be able to get our slides out and open our sewer door. When another 40' coach parked next to us, we couldn't both have our awnings out at the same time. Some of the full time residents made us uncomfortable, but others were very friendly. The park was really loud on the weekend days and evenings, but this was a holiday weekend. My biggest complaint though is the nightly rate. The weekly rate was reasonable, but $50 for these tiny spots is really out of whack. We would grudgingly stay here again, but only because so few parks in this area are kid-friendly. Stayed two nights. Quiet park. Easy back in for 38' coach. RVs only go left at the office, so park on the entrance road prior to the parking lot. Mobile homes are on right side of the park and going right is not fun. Got a space the same day of reservation. Price maybe why snowbirds don't full it up. Will return. We loved the birds, pond, pool, and hot baths! Wi-Fi was usable. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.Undo

Very nice park. Relaxing and fun. Lots of families. Pools are great and they have a lake with birds. Very nice. Hot in summer perfect in the winter. Will return. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Travel Trailer.Undo

We come here several times a year and we have seen an impressive array of upgrades. The steam room is a real joy. Bathrooms/showers are always kept clean. They have a game room with billiard table as well. The only complaint I have is that most RV camps provide repeat customer incentives in the way of free weekends after so many paid. There is no loyalty program for those who consistently return. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.Undo

Ladies at check-in were friendly and helpful, even when dealing with the difficult people in front of us. Great pool facilities! Sites are plenty big, and not too off-level. I checked Yes for Pull Through sites because if you park in the southern Overnighters and Groups section, it's pretty empty so you can drive through a neighboring spot. The drive into Palm Springs is an easy drive, so it doesn't seem so long. Quiet at night. Full-timers and residents are friendly. Above average dog park. Would love to return. We chose this park as the mineral pools sounded nice and they were! Staff was also very friendly. The downside was that there was no Wi-Fi unless you set up your own account with a separate company for $30 a month. As the previous reviewer stated the park model homes were very rundown and in some cases deserted. The surrounding neighborhood was also not very nice. It was a 30 minute drive to Palm Springs or Palm Desert. The bathhouse while clean was "cold." It was a bare concrete floor - a type of bathhouse one might find in a state park, but not in a private campground. The sites were also close together. We could hear the dogs barking in the Motorhome next to us. Rate was based on the monthly rate. I would probably not stay here again. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Travel Trailer.Undo

We rolled the dice and stayed here as it looked like it would be fun for the kids. So here is my take on it. The good - The hot pools are great. The spaces are very generous. In contrast to many of the reviews, we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. We had a maintenance issue with our site's dump, and they were out and fixed it in a reasonable amount of time. The bad - This might not even be truly bad but rather not our taste. Once away from the pools, we didn't think the park was that nice. There is a large mobile home area that looks like a run down trailer park. A large portion of the park is considered "overflow" and as a result, it looks like a wasteland that they forgot about. Most of the sites are fairly uneven. We saw a lot of rigs with wheels off the ground and they still weren't quite level. If you are looking for a night or maybe two to relax in a hot spring spa, this place is fine. If you are looking for a nice place to vacation or call home for a month, I would look elsewhere considering the many choices in the area. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.Undo
