They had great facilities but they have so many ridiculous rules that it ruined our stay. They will drive by your camping spot on their golf cart and continually watch you to see if you are breaking any of their rules. We are fine with a RV Park having rules but we do not enjoy a place that overwhelms you with tedious rules. The customer service was terrible and they were not very friendly. We enjoying staying at RV parks that have good customer service, it makes even a short stay more enjoyable. Our stay here was not very enjoyable. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Travel Trailer.

Overall Rating:

We stayed at Sam's for three nights. The park is nice enough. Pretty clean, the staff was generally friendly, lot's of palm trees. The sites are fairly cramped and about half have a severe slope, back to front. Our front jacks were at their limits and we still required two 2x12 pieces of lumber under each pad. Water pressure is low, about 20 psi at our site. Our ability to park our toad was hampered by a palm tree and light pole. But that is partly our fault. We choose poorly but we did discover that the "Overnighters and Travel Clubs" area is lightly used and generally level. We confirmed with the office this area is open to anyone. The highlights are the hot tubs and the pool. The park was close to full, save the overnighter area, yet the tubs and pool aren't really crowded. Those are really the attraction and what make this park a good place to stay. The lake and water falls are nice too. Keep in mind, this is a "find your own site" place so choose wisely. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Nicely paved road. Site was gravel with small cement pad and picnic table. Full hook ups. Our cable did not work so used our satellite. People rave about the 5 naturally spring fed pools but we didn't use. Lots of snowbirds. Site 289A was great. No site on door side. Other side stayed empty most of the week. Everything you could ask for within few miles. Would definitely return. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Travel Trailer.

Love the hot springs! 4 pools, from 105 degrees to cooler. Big swimming pool, wading pool for the kids. Lovely landscaped picnic area under the palm trees with peacocks and a pond that attracts wild ducks. Campground is good. Utilities all work dependably. A little small, once it got warm and we had our windows open the neighbors seemed close. Lots of trees, palm trees, cactus and flowering hedges. Older park that has been kept up. Really enjoyed that it is a family park - locals coming to enjoy this little paradise in the desert. A Verizon cell tower in the park, excellent bandwidth. ATT, not so much. Never even tried the campground WiFi. For the monthly rate they ask to do a credit check. The wind can really blow! Watch your awnings. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Tips for other Campers:

Take the windmill tour if you are interested in alternative energy. The tram up to the top of the mountains is spectacular. "Downtown" Palm Springs is only a couple of blocks long but lots of fun. Buy some dates from Sam Cobb Farms. There is an excellent RV Parts/equipment place a mile East on Dilllon Rd. The less expensive super market it 2 blocks further on Palm Ave from the Vons.

Stopped in to rent a lot and management was very rude. Separated from husband and needed a place to relax and think. Would not rent me a space because I am separated andwould not except husbands income. Would not except credit card payment. So be perfect in life. Make up lies to stay at this place, because they do not care. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Nice staff. Recreation area lovely. Whole park is clean. But....getting a motor home in to a site is very difficult. The sites are truly very narrow. A tight, tight squeeze between electrical/sewer and picnic table concrete slab. Plus sites not angled so it's a real trick to back an RV straight in to a site especially given that there is a good-sized palm tree right at the front corner of each site. Sites are gravel and very close to each other. If I owned the place I'd rework that entire back RV section in to wider and angled sites. We were driving a 27' Class C. The recreation area of the park is lovely. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

Date of Stay: February, 2017 - $20.00
Overall Rating:

We stayed two months - Jan/Feb. Very nice park. The 4 hot pools are drained every night and filled up early in the mornings. We went between 9-11am and the water was generally very clean and variable hot temps. The large pool was very warm. The tags you pay for at checkin get you into the hot pool area and are refundable upon exiting. I was told the wifi is not good but we have our own. It is Tengo - and run by a third party company I believe. Also we have own laundry but the laundry room looked very clean. I did see people coming in complaining that they lost their money in machines. Again- it is run by an outside third party company. It got windy several times and when the wind picks up it will last all day. We went into Palm Springs when it got windy and there was absolutely no wind there. The parking was tight at our site but we managed. My only real complaint is I didnt feel confident just driving into the park with no reservation. The day we pulled in, the monthly section was almost full. We got the last spot. I was told it got busy suddenly in December. Walking outside the park was ok. We walked down Bennett Road and there are a few foothills you can walk up for a bit of a hike. There are dogs down this road to be aware of at times. We will return in the future. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.

Incredible place! So nice and clean. Super clean mineral hot springs/tubs and large swimming pool too! Awesome location, close and convenient to Palm Springs and Desert Hot Springs for shopping. Great cell coverage. Verizon, AT&T, & TMobile all work fine. Park has a few 'theme' nights with dinners for a cost of $10.00 per person, Italian, Mexican, ect...Lots of folks from the park attend. Lots of OPEN SPACE outside of park for dog walking, but park also includes a smaller dog run that is grassy for your pet. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.

Lots to do in the Desert Hot Springs/Palm Springs area, but also a great place to just relax and spend the winter months out of the cold! Temps in January and February range from the 70s-80s to the 40s-50s. Can get windy though! :)

Great facility although some sites can be tight. Watch the speed bumps. Multiple dog friendly, small pens allowed. Lot of long term rigs and park models here now. Bring bathing suit to use mineral springs pool and hot tub. It can get very windy, wet and cold in the winter. Don't put your awning out without checking the weather forecast! I enjoyed my stay there, nice pool, hot tubs, spas, I however would not purchase there wifi again. I purchased the fast version for $37 and was so bad I complained but no refund just excuses. I also lost money in there laundry room, the office won't reimburse you, more excuses. They do have Yoga and Water aerobics which I enjoyed. After I paid $550 a month I still had to pay for yellow tags showing them I can use the facilities, weird. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.

This is a very large resort. It is divided in half, which keeps the temporary RVers separate from the regular/long term residents. The RV sites are narrow and very close together. The grounds are well kept. Walking around the pool and lake area is very pleasant. After a day of driving, it was great to relax in the various hot pools. The pool area was well maintained. There is a code for the bathrooms/showers, which were clean and maintained. No complaints. Would stay again if in the area. Only issue was how crammed in everyone is. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.

Overall Rating:

A quirky, fun place to relax. Our second time, so likely we'll go back as it's close for us. Hard to rate high because it's very old and a lot is original, plus their customer service has a lot to be desired. Spots are so narrow, many new larger RVs won't fit in the space between the concrete pad and electrical on the other side.

What we liked: Easy to get in, can pick your own spot, they drain the hot tubs every night so they don't use chemicals (though think they should not allow small kids in them, saw a few, ugh), just low key atmosphere and they don't seem to nit-pick. Sauna and steam rooms were nice and working, and grounds were pretty and spacious if you have a big group.
What we did not like: They won't allow ANY reservations for a specific spot or saving. It was important to our group to camp together for meal preps, kids, etc. and even after the first person arrived and offered to PAY for the other couple of spots, they would NOT allow any "saving" of spots in any way. Are they trying to be difficult and piss people off? We get that they don't want to start assigning spots and have to reserve, but why not let the first to arrive PAY and put things in that site so others realize it's taken? We'd hate to accidentally take a spot right between a group because we didn't know any better. Easy fix, but they seem stubborn and don't care. Only solution is everyone arrive at the same time, and that is not always possible.

We loved visiting the nearby (as in 10 min at most) Cabot's Pueblo Museum. Interesting, informative, and neat grounds. We were there 2 hours. Area has a lot of hiking, and the Palm Springs Tram would be fun to take up. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

So many have raved about this place but we found it marginally acceptable. Sites are all gravel and not level. Tenters are allowed in any site so we were encircled by tenters, some of whom also slept in their cars. Showers were a mess. I question whether they were cleaned as often as advertised. Office staff were curt and did not seem to be responsible for anything other than the day use of the spa's. Dogs running around off leash. Price reflects a weeks stay, in retrospect a bad decision. We will never stay in this park again. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Motorhome.

We have stayed at Sam's on several occasions over the last 10 years. Winter guests might call it a destination RV facility, and no doubt many do if one looks at the numerous northerly license plates on RVs. For us, however, Sam's is just an overnight or two-day stay, usually traveling to or from Arizona.

On a positive note, the pool and spa area are superbly maintained. The landscaping in the pool area shows a lot of creativity and desert ambiance. The water is pleasantly warm in the cool months. The four spas have varying temperatures--all quite conducive to relaxation.

The RV spots vary in desirability, however. Some sites are reasonably level for a dirt and gravel park. On our latest stay, the automatic leveling system in my fifth wheel had to go through many iterations to get the job done! Another issue has to do with the declining water pressure at Sam's. Perhaps the overall water table has declined as a result of the California drought. Nevertheless, our Girard tankless water heater had some difficulty just producing hot water within the RV due to low water pressure.

For the most part the staff at Sam's is very welcoming and quite pleasant to deal with, the only exception being a woman who makes it seem like she's doing a major favor to accept your business.

We like the desert area but would recommend Sam's consider upgrading their RV sites as other parks/resorts in the area have done. We camped at Sam's Family Spa in a Fifth Wheel.
