First, the park is wonderfully shaded and has a very nice campground feel. Our space was spacious and we had plenty of separation from other people. Our reservation and site assignment were on the board outside of the closed office when we arrived (about 4pm). We have a small travel trailer and used the park's restrooms. They were in need of updating/maintenance. A report to the camp hosts about a maintenance issue in the restroom was met rather rudely. Plus a rude comment upon on our departure would cause us to look into another park should we return to the Lake Shasta area. - coffmake

We've stayed in this RV park before. It's a nice place with friendly staff. Most of the sites are pull through. Some can be pretty tight. There's a nearby stream that you can hike down to. Mosquitos are prevalent, so factor that into your plans. - neuronz

This park is tucked back in the forest about five minutes from Interstate 5. It is very peaceful and quiet. Down a short path is a small very cold stream. We had an easy access pull-through site. The park is clean and staff friendly. Just down the road is the hotel and restaurant. Perfect place for a quick overnight stay or a longer vacation to visit the beautiful sites in the area. - Tinas

VERY loud campground - right next to I-5. Campground is rustic, treed, and pretty. But the overpowering road noise obliterates ANY sense of peace or tranquility of being in the forest. If the road noise was less, the rating would be higher. Interior road are very narrow. Spaces are very short, tight, and narrow. They say they take trailers 21-27 ft and they aren't kidding ! We struggled to get our 26 ft 5er in a spot. No hook ups, water spigots dispersed. Do have flush toilets and showers. If not for the pounding road noise this would be awfully close to a 10 . We will never return here. We were the only RV. Everyone else was in a tent. The host was in a 17 ft class B. Do not recommend bringing a bigger rig in here than about 25 ft. - theresal58

Been coming to this park for years and generally had a favorable impression. Not this time. We were there for a week and the men's room was not cleaned once. Someone spilled coffee behind a toilet. This was not cleaned up the whole week. A shower drain was plugged and the place was a swamp the entire time. I alerted the office that there was no toilet paper in the men's room, and there continued to be none the rest of the time we were there. They do have a soap dispenser now by the sink which is a welcome improvement from past years. - dinksdad

This is a destination park near Mt Shasta City. We were there with two grandsons, 9 and 11 years old. The beach area is large and has the Splash Zone which has a fee. Our grandsons spent 4 hours playing on the park's VERY large, inflatable water structures. They were exhausted but had a great day.
The park could be labeled "rustic" in appearance, but we had one of many full hookups, including cable tv. Our site was nearly level, high water pressure (80psi). The sites are fairly close together and have tables and fire pits.
We were concerned about late night noise, but we didn't hear anything from 11pm to after 8am. All of the other campers we came across were very friendly.
We were very happy with the park and will be back. - retired fireman
Jul 2016 - $35.00
Great location in the large pine trees. Full hookups in most sites and you are in the forest. Some sites are set up a little different with fire pit and table on driver side of unit, so you have to walk around your trailer to get to them. Great marina with boat rentals very reasonably priced. General store on site has most basic essentials. Full restaurant on site. Big portions but priced at regular restaurant prices, which is ok since your about 5 minute drive from town. The best is the beach. Sitting on the sand and looking at the beautiful Mt. Shasta across the lake. Large water structures for kids to climb on in the lake. $8 for 1 hour or $15 for 4 hours to use. Must be 6 years old to use with life jacket, and under 6 can use with adult supervision. Great fishing since the lake receives extra fish throughout the summer from the fish hatchery down the road. Boating is limited to 10mph so no ski boats. There are also cabin and single wide trailers for rent. Daily outdoor movie nights. Laundry facilities. All in all highly recommend. We love it here. - Greygoose1

This is a good one night stay while on the way up/down I-5. No frills, but a great value for the price. Beautiful view of a grassy pasture across the street with mountains in the background. If you have a reservation they'll tell you the site # and when you show up you set up and then pay. If no one is in the office just put your CASH in the drop box with site # attached. They have cable but we found our satellite worked fine in site A and would work in all sites on that row except B & C. Roads and sites are paved with grass between. Convenient on/off of I-5. The highway is close and there is a train track nearby, but this is the case in ALL campgrounds along I-5. I wore earplugs and didn't hear the noise at all. They ran mostly in the early morning. This is mostly a mobile home/full-time park but there has always been a spot for us when we wanted one. - Hands For Him
Aug 2016 - $25.00
Mostly mobile homes but spaces are long enough for 35ft and toad. Couldn't put out one slide because of tree. Not the easiest to maneuver into Park. The picnic table was on quite a slant. But for the price, it was clean with full hookups. 51 channels of cable. Verizon worked great but didn't try wifi. - lb0456
Jul 2016 - $25.00
Perfect park for an overnight or an extended stay. Staff is present and visible, mix of overnighters and permanent residents. It was very quiet, friendly staff and residents and the hookups were brand new at my site. When I left the manager called my mobile phone and informed me that my antenna was up! Great service! - Kingjosh

This place is basically a parking lot with trees. No privacy, garbage overflowing, and even though I walked all over the lot, I could not connect to wifi. Basically, no wifi. Never again. Don't stop here. With all the beautiful forests in the area, why not provide a site with a view, trees, shrubs, scenery? I hated this place. - ShirlW
Jul 2017 - $38.00
Delightful space amongst tall, mature pine trees. Cool on hot days. Can see Mt. Shasta from the park. Owners are friendly, dedicated, attentive and helpful. On our 'Return When Able' list. - Stryker31415
Jul 2017 - $46.00
Sites are closer together than we prefer (awnings are within inches of the next RV's slide-outs), grounds well kept, facilities clean, staff very nice but the owner is as arrogant as anyone I've ever met. We reserved and paid for a tent site and RV site for 3 nights. On our last day while taking everything down THE OWNER decided to pull up the tent the kids were staying in 2 hours before checkout with all their things inside and drag it to the dirt so he could water the lawn. When I confronted him he did not apologize or seem to care in the least only saying he needed to water the lawn - keep in mind this is a $30 per night tent site and again, this was THE OWNER who did this. When we told him we would not be back he said that was fine as they "were always full". A simple apology would have been fine by me. Instead I'm making sure as many people as possible know about our experience. - David T

We stayed there overnight on a stop in our 32' trailer. Gravel sites, may take some leveling. Bathrooms are older but clean. Don't forget to turn on the heater when you take a shower. Would stay here again. One way road at the entrance does get a little narrow, take you time going through. - Ed N

Woke up by train twice whistle blowing loudly but didn't bother us. Nice place the spend a night. Sites are dirt so unlevel. Very cute town!!! We would return. Good cable and WiFi. - Ncogneeedo

Oct 2013 - $29.00
We were here when it wasn't busy so had plenty of room. Site not very level. Manager had gone home but someone else checked us in and she was very pleasant and helpful. We parked near the office and Wi-Fi worked well for us. Quiet enough and have only heard 1 train, so far. You can see Mt Shasta through the trees. Would probably stay here again. - Thedogsma
Aug 2013 - $29.00
This is nothing but a gravel lot with utilities. Sites are long but VERY close together. Don’t try to make reservations because you will NEVER get a call back. That’s just rude. How can you run a business like that? When we got there the office was closed - naturally so we picked a spot. The map of the facilities is drawn on a white board and not very specific. The information provided in an outside box had a Mt. Shasta map that was unreadable, NO information on the park (like a map) and the TV listing was wrong. What a terrible way to run an business. We would not recommend this park and will not return. - Ruffella
Jul 2013 - $27.00
My high ranking is because this is a very nice spot to be and everything works. Power, water and sewer, all good. Spot big enough for our 42' plus tow. Park is located in a pine forest. People operating the park are friendly and helpful. Rate is reasonable. This is not a big fancy deluxe park, but a nicely situated comfortable one. Quiet too. - RFCN2

Apr 2018 - $40.00
Stayed one night in a 40' MH with tow. Had pull thru site, but it was only 42' with another site butting up behind us. They were not busy so there was no problem with us hanging into site behind us, but we were told if they were busy we would have to unhook. A 42' PT site is not large enough for a big rig that is towing and having to unhook defeats the purpose of a pull thru if you are stopping for the night and moving on the next morning as we were. Lots of truck noise - realized next morning that there is a Pilot that almost surrounds the park so we heard trucks coming and going all night. Staff was friendly but would probably not stay here again. - denvercats
Apr 2018 - $40.00
Staff was friendly on check in and the escort to our site knew exactly how far to pull forward for our utility hook ups. Wifi was excellent but only 4 OTA channels with no networks. Management offered to let me borrow a cable so I could watch the Final Four. The laundry room was clean with 2 washers and dryers. They were not coin-op so for $2 you could manage the dry time. Intended as only an overnight stop, it was easy to extend so we could see a couple of the nearby sites. We would definitely stay again if in the area. - Betsy_02
Oct 2017 - $36.00
What a hidden gem of an RV park!! We arrived without a reservation because of a mistake in making reservations for the night. The office staff were very pleasant, offering to relocate another camper who wasn't arriving for another night to a different site so we could fit into a back in site. We prefer a pull thru so my 40' Class A towing an 18' car hauler trailer can fit and remain connected but only back in sites are offered. A guest parking was available to store my trailer during our stay at no additional cost. It was easy to access and to drop and hook up the trailer. The 45' back in site was paved, level with FHU, 30A service only (no 50A service available), but was close by. Cable TV is offered and is the best signal I have ever received from a park cable system. WiFi is also offered. All included in the nightly rate. The park is small with some long term residents but the park is well-maintained. One of the cleanest parks we have been in. Each site has a grassed patio with a picnic table that doesn't have a weathered appearance. They appear fairly new. Laundry and bathrooms provided but we did not use. The great thing about this park is it is at the base of Mt. Shasta!! You have a view of Mt. Shasta from the rear of the park. Park is close to grocery shopping, fast food restaurants and a Pilot Flying J truck stop. It has interior roadways that are easy to navigate. After you register, you are guided to your campsite and assistance in set up is offered. The campground has trees that may impact those with a satellite system. The park is quiet even though close to the commercial elements mentioned. We would certainly return to this park when in the area. - kihei7

The RV sites are in a row at the back of the motel lot, backing up to a small creek. Over half of the RV sites are taken up by long term stays. Since the utilities for every two sites are shared, we had to run our hoses and electrical under our rig to hook up. If you have a motorhome and could pull in forward, this would not be an issue. Interstate 5 is not far away so there is freeway noise at all hours. The park Wi-Fi was decent, but did slow down during peak usage hours. The onsite cafe is excellent. This place is okay for a one nighter, but there are better options down the road in Mt Shasta City in our opinion. - Metamorphosis Road
Jan 2013 - $26.00
This little RV park is in the back of the Hi-Lo motel with back in sites. Very quiet, with a great dining cafe associated with the motel. They gave us discount tokens for gas and free coffee at the diner. We had both dinner and breakfast here and it was very good. If you have a large RV you can pull in through a back road. We have a 36' RV and made it through the front entrance. We would stay here again. - pttraveler

ADMIN NOTE:
In March 2018 it was reported that the Lake Shastina campground no longer allows camping. It is strictly a day use area now.
We were looking for a place to stay in the general area to break up a long drive. We're self contained and don't use the facilities. We stayed on a weeknight in September in our 25 foot MH. This is a nice, free primitive CG with great views. The road in and main road through the CG are paved. The main road ends at a boat launch. There are at least 10 sites with picnic tables/fire pits and several others without. The sites are a mix off large and small, shady and full sun, most need a little leveling. Some are more private than others. The sites closest to the lake are largest. The roads inside the campground are dirt and some have tight turns. There are water spigots which we did not use. We saw police drive through once during the evening. A maintenance person did some clean up in the morning. It was a quiet night. There's good Verizon and usable ATT coverage. - dsvt
Jun 2015 - $1.00
A blm campground - i.e. beautiful surroundings, sparse amenities, and free during the summer months. Camped in a 40' class A with toad down by the lake. There are sites back in the trees, but not large enough for our rig. Plenty of space near the lake and these have a best view. There is a fresh water spigot and pit toilet located back in the trees section. Great outdoors experience - quiet and very scenic. Night skies and star gazing were awesome. Lake water level was down when we were there (June 2015), but it wasn't an ugly sight. Local law officer patrolled about every other day just to check on things. We were the only steady visitor during our 6 day visit - very few seemed to camp here at this time of year. Mid-days were somewhat hot, so had to run the generator and A/C. Just be prepared for rustic camping when you come here. Bring your camera and binoculars and be prepared for some great afternoon naps under a shade tree. Be careful of the trees (evergreens) they do drop sap - I had to clean our dog and awnings before leaving. There is a Pilot south of Weed for fuel and a dump station ($8). - MarksOnTheRoad
